For what its worth... and I realize that we are no long having an intelligent discussion here, but I'd thought I'd throw this in anyway...

In 2005 or 2006 I placed an order with the online Disney Store for a custom shirt with the name "Kim Possible" on it and received a phone call stating that the term is copyrighted and they weren't going to be able to complete the order. They even helped us come up with alternative wording...

So yeah, given this past experience I'm confused as to why Disney didn't do the same in this instance.

Careful what you wish for. Anita Bryant asked for pie and look what happened to her:

Which sums up the direction this thread took.

wbc you and people like you are the reason I rarely visit this site anymore. What happened to the sweetness of this forum? WDWMagic used to get me so excited for my upcoming vacation? People like you just ruin the experience by creating drama where it is not needed. :veryconfu

I'm just amazed this much venom has been spewed...and none of it by me.

Now can we all go back to talking about what really matters? Pool hopping?

As far as I'm concerned, Disney should have done a better job conveying that the order would not be completed, but had the OP been more thorough in reading the website, the mistake wouldn't have been made to begin with. And no one should ever tell someone something they're definitely getting for their birthday anyway (I like surprises) but especially not until the item is in hand, in order to avoid disappointment.

I think the most glaring offense here is that the customer service representative incorrectly represented to the OP that this is a matter of copyright law, when clearly, the matter at hand is one of trademark misappropriation.

Watch it buddy!:animwink:

The whole birthday thing (trip, tshirt, etc) is a surprise, so my son doesn't know at all. I agree that we should have looked at the site better. It was 11:30pm when we were making the shirt, as I work long hours seeing patients and when I am home, I want to spend that time with my wife and kids so that's probably why I missed it.

Again I wasn't angry about not being able to use the word Disney (although I think it is silly that on an official Disney site, with official Disney pictures you can't say Disney), just the way it was handled by customer service.

Maybe I'll have them write "I'm going to Walt's This Knee World" That shoudn't cause a problem should it:lookaroun

By the way, I am amazed that this thread has over 100 replies... crazy. You'd think I was extolling the virtues of using Fast Passes past their return window, or making multiple ADRs during the same period of time:lol:

:ROFLOL: You sure you didn't title this thing "Brazilian Tour Groups"??

WBC is one of those pathetic douches who trolls message boards looking for ways to try to make themselves feel important. Sad...
