How often has management closed a park to make an announcement like this? What other projects/news has/have been announced in this way? Any precedent to go on?

No clue, have they done this when they announced epcot, dhs or dak? I know they didn't do the same thing when they announced FLE initially, an update wouldn't call for this.

This is my issue as well. I understand having two similar rides or two rides with the same story as being a problem, but why not just retheme the coaster to one of the other million movies they have? MK is too big to be getting rid of rides, and what's suppose to take swsa's place? A shop? A meeting greet? Disneyland's FL is still going to be better. As small as it is as a park, it utilizes it's space to it's full potential. I'm not a huge die hard fan of the ride either, I just hate that they're getting rid of it and have all the space in the world but they still have to destroy something classic. Very stupid.

With similar rides in every other park, I don't see a need to close it to open a new ride. The point of expanding with the FLE isn't to ride the park of older rides to make new ones for the same franchise.

Hey, I wispered it because of the flamewar it could cause. But the possibility of a 5th gate would have involved some disney secrecy that that hasn't been seen for over 40 years.

you know i would be the first one in at that park. i do agree that they need to work on the other four parks but i still want my villians park.

i just cant wrap my head around why they would need all of corporate to announce....

1. Final FLE plans
2. Disney Dream christening the day after
3. Preview of Let the Memories Begin

They are closing the park to give the press an exclusive look at the memories, Castle projections photo show. I'm sure they will announce more, but this is the main reason for closing the park early.

But it's not JUST for FLE. It is also for the new celebration, Star Wars updates and the new Ship. They are clearly getting ready for the announcement and considering the recent decorations in front of the train station I think it's pretty clear they are going to be at least talking about the new Campaign. I wouldn't be surprised if the event was held in front of this new sign:

I am really worried that we are all making a bigger deal of this then it is going to be. I mean, we all did this, including myself, for the last one and it turned out to be NOTHING. I mean we are getting a bit far ahead of ourselves....

It would be awesome if they announced any of the things that has been posted on this thread HOWEVER, I am still going to not get myself too excited as Disney has a way of surprising us, but I am still hopeful that this will be a good surprise

More like a mix between darkride/coaster. Think of a small version of MTMRR.

Very excited to hear this. I just hope Disney does 2 things with it:

1. Make it worth the wait. You know the lines are going to be massive like what you see for Peter Pan/Space Mountain. Hopefully it's not like Goofy which lasts only a few seconds.

2. When they break down Snow White, they use a lot of the set pieces for this ride. If not I hope it at least ends up in a museum or something. This is such a classic, old, ride that I would ber upset to see it get trashed.

I think it's safe to say that the most knowledgeable post in this thread was the first one that raven made.

So what we have to look forward to is an official announcement of the changes to the Fantasyland expansion. Thanks to the insiders on this board we have most of the major details hammered down. For me, this press event should be confirming things we already know as well as presenting new concept art.

If I had to guess the biggest unknown announcement that may come out of this would be a better time frame for the opening of Little Mermaid or Be Our Guest. Even that would probably be too far out to have a solid date.

I don't think it's realistic to expect the announcement of new attractions outside of Fantasyland. For most people outside of the few thousand Disney fans that are already aware of the Seven Dwarves Coaster, this will be a significant announcement.

Just speculation, but they might announce something else that could bring some things together and tie up loose ends...
