Chit Chat has plenty of inside jokes that most members don't know about. Everything in my sig was in the public forums... and every single one is an inside joke. Why people just can't leave the PML for what it is is beyond me... and it makes them seem really petty.

If you're going to use the argument that anything in Chit Chat is available to everyone than you can use the argument that it only costs $5 per month or $50 per year to join the PML...and by the way I don't know any college student that can't afford $50/year....just don't buy the video game this year...wait for Christmas.

To me, we're all as guilty as everyone else for being cliquish....it happens with grouping of people...and in many cases the people that complain the loudest are often the most guilty...they're just mad that they are excluded from a particular clique.

Personally....I think some people let pointless babble bother them too much. I personally find the VMK board pointless, but you don't see me complaining on the boards about it. No one is forcing anyone or holding a gun to anyone's head making them read anything on these boards. If you don't like it or don't care for it....ignore it. If a particular member irritates you....put them on ignore status.

It's not that hard people.

Ray, I think you have hit the nail on the head with all those points.
Read what you want to read, ignore what you dont want to read.
Accept that you wont know everything about every thread on the forum, and accept that little groups of friends will develop.

These things apply to regular real life, not just the forums. It makes me wonder how some people can go about their daily lives if they are incapable of accepting these things.

OMG you're so far out in left field it's not funny.

There was never a "PML ONLY" trip. :hammer: It was a trip where 3 people who lived in the vicinity of Orlando decided to get together because I (a North Carolinian) was going to be in the area and we're all friends. Details of the trip were posted in PML because we were being a little bit lewd and it wasn't appropriate for the 12-13 year olds who post in the other forums.

During this trip, my 2 year old was being a goofball and licked the monorail window. I told her to stop, and the way it came out was hilarious so Ben said that was great sig material and put it in his sig when he got back. It has absolutely nothing to do with PML.

If you'd like to discuss further, I'm happy to take it to PMs.

Seriously folks....take this off the boards and argue this amongst yourselves with PM's....I don't think anyone other than you three really cares about this.

Being one of the people who has had a problem with PML in the past...while I WAS PML..I may add..I would like to say something.

I joined PML to support Steve..but also cause I liked the pretty lil box and user title next to my avatar. ..

Now I have had plenty of discussions if you will with PML over plenty of things..and I have also thought that PML people were snobby and unfair and downright rude...BUT....that all changed once I started really paying attention to PML threads.

I always stayed in the chit-chat threads..that was where my "friends" were.I now know that really they are one in the same..the only difference is the sparkly lil box and user title.

What goes on in PML's chit chat thread is the same things going on in the regular chit-chat threads and most of the time I feel as if I am being judged more while I am in the regular one then in PML's.

I have made a lot of friends in PML and I have learned a lot from the people there.They are friendly and funny and silly.

They make me laugh and they make me feel better when I am having a bad day and they will support you 100% when you need it.

Far different from what I believed them to be.
I feel more welcome in PML then I do in the regular chit-chat threads sometimes.
Though I have met some AMAZING people in chit chat also.
My point is it is really not a PML thing.

The thing is that this is life and like someone stated before..there will be cliques and groups formed and some people will feel left out and some will be included.
You cant please everyone at all times and thats the thing.

We are all here for one main reason..and that is our love of Disney.
So all of us have something in common with each other and that is something that wont change.

Steve and the mods do an amazing job and without them we would not be rating avatar's,or talking about how happy we are that our packets arrived,we would not be arranging magic meets at ball games or talking about the monorail expansion ot the fifth gate over and over again.

I for one would be lost without magic and I am proud to be a part of it and proud that I can support it.

Lets just all be thankful that we have this place to come to and that we have "met" all these wonderful..sometimes strange people who have made our "real" lives just a lil bit better.:wave:

Well said, Ray and Steve, and I completely agree. I am more than happy to be a contributing member here! Just like with any other group of people, whether on the internet or at work/whatever - participate in those conversations that interest you, and ignore the ones that don't. Avoid offensive people - and BOY, is that easier on the internet than it is at work!!!

Of the three "life discussion" threads that restart every 5,000 post... which one is the most "exclusive".

Honestly... I was a bit surprised...

*Note... the names and numbers are blurred because I didn't want participating parties to feel "outed" if they didn't want to be*

The focus of these should be the scroll bars of the three windows. The longer the scroll bar, the fewer number of total posters in the thread. Now, the MJ thread has the most current post (as of last night) of the thread, but also has the fewest total posters.

The Padding thread, which is exclusive to the PML has the HIGHEST number of total posters. The Huggle thread, falls in the middle.

So, looking at these numbers (which isn't scientific or controlled, just an observation)... the MJ thread is actually the most exclusive of the three... and would therefore have the most "inside jokes".

The thread that ISN'T public, would actually have the LEAST.

I think that is what creates this "us vs. them" mentality that everyone is talking about. The "us" can't see what the "them" is doing, when the "them" has free reign over all the "us" does and says.

I saw a sig a while back that said "It's a PML thing. You wouldn't understand." I won't call a name, because I honestly don't remember whose it was. I just think that's the wrong way to show PML pride. But I don't set the rules around here, so it's my opinion...nothing more, nothing less.

I think you'd be surprised at what you'd find: a bunch of folks talking about their children, work, school, health problems and so on.

You're right on both parts here, however... i can speak from personal experience that often you'll find more than those things listed. For example: Threads complaining about non PML members. Myself included. Which is the primary reason I haven't joined PML at this point. I'd rather hand Steve $50 than spend it looking at nasty posts about other members. That just doesn't feel right.

But I'm thankful that he does. Steve, here's to you. :sohappy:

All in All i don't care if y'all have inside jokes, i don't care if y'all have the money to enjoy PML... i'm glad you have each other, and i'm thrilled that y'all have so much fun. My biggest beef with PML was the "place to vent about non PML'ers" that's just plain awful in my opinion. I know there's been MANY threads to that nature, and many people who agree with me that it's inappropriate, both PML and not. So, having said that. PML seems like a great idea. Lot's of fun - great investment for those wanting to support the site! Glad y'all are doing what you can to keep it up and running. At least you know my reasons for not joining.

As it has been said many times, PML is a perk, but not the reason many of us pay the 5 bux a month. There are a LOT of premium members who do not post in PML, so no one is being forced to join the threads.

And yes perhaps it is wrong to talk badly of others. But we all vent. And it's not just limited to PML. People vent about others everywhere, from PML to myspace, to instant messenger. It's just the way things go. For all we know, you could be venting about us elsewhere, and we wouldn't know about it. Are you being rude, or is it rude when we know about it? It really should not be a big deal IMO and I'm not trying to be rude myself here :lol: I'm just trying to play devil's advocate. But I know where you're coming from :wave:

you're right. we do all vent. no doubt about that. i've made the mistake about venting where people can see it later that i would have rather not. I guess that's the deal. I've learned my lesson. Don't vent in public forums! LOL... too bad PML hasn't learned that yet... But that is good advice, it's not all about the PML thread.... supporting the site is worth it's weight in gold I realize that. I'll take your opinions and think about them.... thanks!

Ok Jess....I agree with you and disaggree with you here.

What you are talking about is a big reason I myself had a problem with PML at first.
I was upset defended a friend and a discussion was started...it ended rather nicely though and I ended up understanding a little bit more then I knew.

People on the open boards also "vent" about each other..all the time.
People are called names and are mean and hurtful to each other over stupid things.

Those threads are then deleted or locked so it does not go overboard.
The things in PML you are talking about are few and far between.

I dont think things have ever gotten so bad that a PML thread was locked and deleted because it got out of hand..if it did then that was a long time ago.

Honestly.. if you go into PML right now you will probably read someone joking around with another PML member or mocking another PML member instead of someone on the open boards.
Its all in fun and we also do have disagreements with each other a lot and thats okay also.

How inappropriate is it to tell people in certain threads to not reply to certain people?

When things like that are done..then some threads in Chit-Chat are far more exclusive then PML ever will be.
PML also welcomes every new person who joins whether they had a problem with them before or not.
I myself truly enjoy it and I love the people there and I am happy to be a member.

I also have developed friendships with people who are not PML..you included and I am glad for that.
I just think that you have to look at it from all sides and realize that PML..Non-PML are really quite the same.

lol the only thing that can be said to that... is duh, it wouldn't get closed as the parties being discussed are not privy to the discussion. LOL... that's the deal however fun and silly it may be sometimes... it can also be cold and spiteful at others... aside from all that. That's life. That's PML the good and the bad. Great People (for the most part ) Both on PML and NON PML... i guess it's a no win. Although i see your point to some extent.

EDIT: and you know how i feel about asking people to ignore certain people. You know i didn't care for that one bit. I'm switzerland when it comes to that. LOL
