I've noticed recently, mainly amongst members who primarily post in Chit Chat, that there is some anti-Premium Member Lounge (PML) feeling. It seems to me that some of you have a mis-understanding about what the PML is, and what goes on there. I would like to try and clear a few things up.
1. The PML is a private board for members who help support WDWMAGIC by giving a financial contribution. The PML was first introduced years ago, as a way to give a small thank you to those members who chose to contribute. As you will realise, there isnt a lot else that a forum can provide to someone as a thank you.
2. Members of the PML tend to be members who take a big interest in the well-being of WDWMAGIC. Because of this, PML members will often be amongst the first to report posts, using the REPORT TO MODERATOR link, that anyone can use to notify moderators of problem posts. This is not a case of PML members ganging up on a post. It is a case of people with the same cause, seeing a problem.
3. The PML does sometimes contain posts that discuss various issues that may be taking place on the site. This, I think, is normal amongst members who have been here for 5 years+. However, any such discussion abides by the rules of the forums.
4. The PML does nothing that other groups of people dont do via email, AIM, or other independent forums/chat rooms where WDWMAGIC is discussed. There is a chat thread, much like several of the chat threads that run in Chit Chat. It mainly consists of people talking about their daily lives, having fun, and sometimes just killing time.
5. The rules of WDWMAGIC that govern all the other boards also apply to the PML and its members.
6. PML members have been banned before, as have non-PML members.
7. I do not, and cannot reply to every single PM I receive. This is the case for both PML and non-PML members. However, all are read, and where required action taken.
8. If you are really intrigued by the PML, skip buying a magazine or a Starbucks, and buy a WDWMAGICPass, and see for yourself. You will find a very friendly bunch of people, who just have the best interests of this site in mind. You will not find what some of you think is there.
9. Some members forget, that without the PML members, sponsors, and advertisers, this site would not exist due to the financial resources that this site demands. We would not therefore even be discussing this issue now.
10. Banned (or nearly banned) members often try to leverage a 'PML vs Non-PML' atmosphere in order to cause trouble and to disrupt the running of the site.
