I get sad, then i get sappy..then I realize "Hey, I might as well start planning my next trip now!" to get rid of the "I just left the World!" blues! :ROFLOL:So I pick my dates (which is 99.9% of the time Thanksgiving week lol), and start working on what days to do what park, what restaurants haven't we tried...what tours can we possibly swing...stuff like that! keeps me focused :)

You sound like me!!:ROFLOL:

I remember being in the car on the way home last time and I heard myself say that I was ready to take a break from Disney for a while. I was thinking we would take a cruise or something. Two days later I felt the same way, as I was still unpacking all of the things and getting settled back in. A week later I was watching youtube videos and tearing up wishing I was back in the magic :ROFLOL:

The best way to fight this is to plan another trip. I don't know why, but planning the trip, making the ADR's and all of that is just about as much fun for me as being there.I just love it. :D

We came back on 9/13 and boy I know what you are feeling! I promise the feeling will eventually subside and you will get involved in holiday stuff and will just have pangs of heartbreak instead of full blown depression:p

But as everyone else says... just know you will be back again.

Such a wonderful place, thank goodness we have it to go to!:)

Since I drank the Disney Kool Aid at age 3, (and I am now 38), my Disney depression seems to be getting worse and worse each year. I am seriously obsessed with my March 2011 trip. I too cry a bit whenever I arrive at my happy place and I am just miserable for weeks and weeks after we return. *sigh*

Same thing happens to us. Hmm......mind control. I'm pretty sure they totally have ours under their control.

we go through it too. hits me as i shuffle back sooooo slowly from the park toward the monorail or car, i feel a little jealous that we're leaving while other people are still there or are just getting there, that someone else will be in "our" hotel room lol. the idea of leaving makes all the over doing it catch up with me and makes me feel bone tired. when the economy took a nose dive it hit us hard knowing we wouldn't be able to go like we did in the past so we did things like the volunteer day to get to do one day in the park, we did just the mnsshp (got there at 4 and were like the last people to leave the park) but it still gets me every time we come home. our next trip (combo bday, anniv, xmas gift) is just after thanksgiving and i've been looking forward to it for so long i don't know what i'll do when we get back (sigh) so i guess it's hitting me a little already and we haven't even gone yet.

Heck im still in post Disney depression and we went in May of 2009! It looks like we might possibly be going back in October of 2011 so that is helping a lot....I'm a 27 year old man who seriously gets misty eyed just thinking about getting back there..no other place on earth like it

Im 23 and...yup:D Not so much misty eyed, but definitely overcome with emotion and a BIG smile!

OK, I guess I get a little misty eyed when we have to leave. But now we live close enough to make weekend trips, so that helps. Although we've lived down here for almost 2 months and have only been once since we moved, have to get on that.

We went in September 2009. At the end of the two weeks I got depressed, then came up with an idea to tag along with my parents in March 2010. My wife needed very little convincing, it was automatic. After that I was hoping to go to California in the fall of 2010 if it was possible. Obviously Disneyland (never been) would have been a must do.

Well, things happen. We didn't have the money and my wife is now pregnant with our first child (4 months in) so the trip might have been a little less enjoyable for her. So we didn't go. So at least the bulk of you have trips planned in the future, as for me we don't and it is a little depressing when you think of it.

I am excited for our child to be born in April, but a part of me would love to just take even a weekend trip sometime next year (the two of us) a few months after the little one is born. Who knows if that happens, but there is the slightest bit of dreaming.

As for the OP, all I can say is that I feel your pain. I myself get very sombre at the end of the night when we are riding the ferry back. I look at how beautiful the castle really is and watch it the whole way back.

Look at it this way. Don't be depressed. Be happy. You experienced Disney World! I am biased, but in my opinion you are a richer human being for doing so. You've created timeless memories. Think about this, there are people who NEVER get the chance to go and would love to, as kids, or adults. Savour it.

Disney Depression

Post Disney depression occurs after every single trip we have taken. We go at least once a year, the last 3 years in early December. Love the holidays at the World. Each time we leave, I think, we'll take a year off next year. But with a couple of weeks I begin to get the Disney need. So planning begins and the anticipation increases as the year progress. We are getting close. :xmas: :sohappy: :ROFLOL:

First Trip To Disney In Three Years

The first trip back to Disney in three years and it was the BEST trip ever!

The reason why we haven't been to Disney for such a long stretch of time is because my wife and I were unsure of our jobs as they were talking about furloughs, cut backs, lay offs, terminations, etc. Our jobs have been secure now for the past year and neither her employer or mine are talking about further cutbacks which is a good thing.

We went back to Disney with a new addition to our family, our now almost six month old daughter. We took her around to the different characters for pictures and just had a blast with that. The next time we go back, we're going back to sign up for the Disney Vacation Club. My wife and I talked to several DVC reps while at the park because we had questions and took notes. Then, we signed up online for additional information, and now we're talking to a sales rep over the phone. The math is clear. The justification is made. The DVC just makes sense. For now, we're working on acquiring a home (we're renters right now) and after that transaction goes down, we'll put pen to paper and make our DVC plans a reality. :)

We live 3.5 hours away from Disney so we don't get the post-Disney depression as hard as some of you who live out of state. Disney, as they say, is in our "backyard." It's a "trip around the corner." It's like visiting the neighbors for coffee. It's like going over to your best friend's house. Well...you get the idea. :D

I live in New Orleans and when I was younger I cried the ENTIRE way back from a trip. It was terrible.

When I lived in NY as a kid, I remember doing this on the flight back from Orlando, FL to Islip, NY (Long Island). My mother was ready to shove me out of the plane because I was a mess. But, when we got home that night...I passed out and dreamed the best Disney dreams. It was almost like as if it was yesterday. Memories.....

I live in Naples. Do I need to come by and pick you up? You have direct access over there via the Florida Turnpike which dumps you off in Mickey's backyard! :D:wave:

Disney depression can be life altering. I returned from the World at the end of August. I just finished up completing my Masters and knew I had to find a job in Florida. When I was at the World in August, I knew I was coming. I took the next 6 weeks and found a job and a place to live in Leesburg. :) Im moving out of Indiana this saturday. My whole life I have wanted to live in Florida, the main reason is to be close to Disney World. I know it will not be quite the same as I will go home at night and sleep in my own bed and not a hotel. Since I was little, I would always be sad and then get down right ed off that I had to leave Disney World. So lets hope this move cures me of Disney Depression!!! Buying that Annual Pass ASAP!!!!:sohappy:

We just got home two days ago from what I think was my best trip ever. We had an absolute blast! However now, I'm really depressed that it's over. Seems more so then any other trip. Anyone else out there?

Ohhhh yes. I was really down after I returned from my 3rd trip to the World. But I was prepared: I bought a CD of Spectromagic at the park, and when I returned home, I played it the first day back, and every time after that when I felt a little down. It was a great tonic!

I agree- the best remedy for my post-WDW depression is to play some good ol' Disney music- like the park soundtrack. Cheers me up until the cd ends. :)
