Possible Frontierland expansion

I know nothing's been greenlit and confirmed yet but if it's not Western River Expedition, Grizzly River Run or Woody's Roundup+Bullseye, or Geyser Mountain, seriously, what could it be? It's sad to say but it would likely have to be IP based. I'd love something original. Would it be a dark ride? Kiddie rides? Thrill ride? LOL

It could be any one of an infinite number of ideas Imagineers could come up with.

Some of Walt Disney World's best attractions are IP-based, so it's not necessarily a bad thing. It's also not necessarily true that it has to be IP-based. Disney has built/is building a couple frontier-themed E-Tickets over in Asia that are original material.

Tokyo Disneyland has a FrontierWesternland... Let's see what attractions they have.
  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
  • Country Bear Jamboree
  • Mark Twain Riverboat
  • Tom Sawyer Island
Oh.
Hong Kong Disneyland doesn't have Frontierland, they have Grizzly Gulch. The only attraction there is the Big Grizzly Runaway Mine Cars. Is this what you meant? Shanghai isn't building a Frontierland yet, so that must be what you mean. One ride.

Big Grizzly and the enormous raft ride going to Shanghai. They don't have a Frontierland but this ride would certainly work in a frontier setting.

So two rides. Thus, "a couple."

True, but I can't think of any popular Disney IPs that are frontier-based. Woody's already over at the Studios, Pocahontas would make for a very boring ride, and Home on the Range bombed.

*unsubscribes from thread* LOL

Ha! Nothing I've read in this thread suggests this "expansion" would happen as part of the 3.5bil budget to be spent (mostly on DHS) from now until '20 or '21. It could be, but this sounds like we are in a blue sky kind of stage of this project, where a concept/design is bring ironed out. Which means it could still be shelved entirely (again?). Any announcements now would be like the Avatar PR mess. Unless, again, this project falls under the $350mil MK is rumored to be getting....

Seems like we have lots of waiting and rumor threads to go before we get anything official.

It's more than blue sky and will likely open by 2021. In addition to the DHS work. Unless, as you say, they end up passing on this project.
