Possible Frontierland expansion

I don't have any insider info, but I'd say that it the LB and TSI are deemed "safe", the blue area is the most likely candidate. Overall it would require the least amount of infrastructure work to prep the site. Mostly doing something about the retention pond and figuring out what to do with the Big Thunder maintenance shed. The shed is currently at "ground level" with a lifthill running up to railroad track level where a swing bridge gets trains across to the attraction. They could easily rebuild the shed so that it's the upper level of some building in the expansion and disguise the transfer tracks as some enclosed bridge.

The yellow area is highly unlikely as most of it falls within the fireworks fallout zone.

Is there a way to bring a version of Western River Expedition to life? Maybe mix it up with something like the ride system from Grizzly River Run or would that conflict with Pirates?

That northern stretch of the train ride would be a nice place to put in a diorama like they have at other castle parks. The Grand Canyon diorama would be a perfect thematic it as you pass by Frontierland and would help to break up that otherwise monotonous stretch of the strain ride....
DITTO! The Grand Canyon would be a nice touch but I doubt if they would add the Primeval World dinosaur scene. Unless, of course, they finally put Universe of Energy out of it's misery and move the dinos to MK but that's a debate for another thread.

wait what? innerspace was never at wdw. mission to mars/flight to the moon weren't big crowd pleasers. and the one salient point you had was with 20k, but that ride was a logistical nightmare for wdw. iasm still gets crowds. i'm just confused, are you doing a weeks-long bit where you just say insane stuff?

My point was that classic attractions get removed from parks even a classic at the Disneyland. They are not sacred spaces and they all have a shelf life. And I mean all.

PS- since there is exceptions to every rule I will say the railroads may not have a shelf life. Because they are real and so directly associated with Walt Disney.

The problem with trying to make this sort of bet with JT is that you would have to get him to commit to a time frame, and that will never happen. JT is perhaps the world's last unconquerable optimist. Everything he wants to happen will happen...eventually. If it hasn't happened yet, it will happen during the next refurb. If it doesn't happen during the refurb, then that was "prefurb" and it will happen later. If the ride in question has been razed to the ground, they will rebuild it somewhere else, better than ever. Every story has a happy ending, and if you think otherwise, it's because you stopped reading before the end. I picture JT in a room with a "I want to believe" poster, only instead of a UFO, there's a Photoshop of IASW in World Showcase. (And to be clear, I like JT--he's the sugar in our sweet & sour sauce).

I do my best and thanks.

I must say though there are a lot of cranes dotting the WDW landscape so perhaps there is a bit more to my musings than just wishful thinking.

Disclaimer: I do mix critical thinking with wishful thinking to an extreme degree on these boards so everything should be taken with a grain or five of salt.

PS I have never played Roller Coaster Tycoon because tourists. However if they ever make a version for the Occulus Rift I will likely never be heard from again on these boards. ;)

Disney HAS created a rich immersive raft ride - it's called Grizzley River Rapids, and it's in DCA...
Yeah, but even that one doesn't really differentiate itself from the pack in the way that, say, Splash Mountain did from all other Log Flumes, or the Matterhorn from all other Roller Coasters. Grizzly River Run is a really well done Raft Ride, but it doesn't really do anything no other Raft Ride does. It's certainly pretty, though, and then some.

I'd love to see Disney take that ride system to the next level in terms of themed experiences. Maybe the new one coming to Shanghai with the giant Q'araq animatronic will do that.

Who wants to start the Kickstarter campaign?

agreed. And I'd prefer the blue site. Why waste tons and tons of money on moving a river when you can just spend all of that money on the ride itself?

Even with a revamped show? I remember there being plans for that a few years ago. Thankfully, that was nixed....

What about behind Splash?
Well I haven't paid a lot of attention to that area due to all the support facilities there. There is a big building for SM that would have to be themed, and I think some of those other buildings are for the parade floats and maintenance, but I could be wrong about that part. Either way, to use that area for the expansion, they would have to relocate all those facilities buildings. Not gonna happen

This area south would require less amount of work to turn into on stage Frontier Land, but the gate for the parade would have to be moved back. Still not gonna happen:

That is SM show building, with the big ones behind it being parade warehousing and what not, the one to the south is pirates.

Another problem with using this plot of land is that the end point of the AVAC trash collection system is smack dab in the middle of it...

This spot doesn't seem like a wise area to place another E-ticket. Your moving the parade entrance which shuts down the main walkway to and from SM and BTM. This project has to improve the flow of traffic otherwise would cause many problems.
