Possible Frontierland expansion

Here is yet one more take that was circulated here years ago, with the intent of keeping the Liberty Bell Running. Although they'd still likely need the Canal to run along the North end.

This one just shows possible plots.

They certainly are not short on options. Whatever happens, I would be very surprised if the "on stage" water running from Haunted Mansion to Big Thunder was affected. Even if the filled in a ton of the back of ROA, it shouldn't really affect the current aesthetics apart from dry-docking the Lilly Belle.
What if you dry docked the Liberty Belle, but also added an entire fleet of new boats to the river the size of Discovery River boats from AK or the old Swan Boat Size, appropriately themed and sized to fit under 2 new bridges.... Reconfigure the backside of the Rivers Of America into a wild rivers of the west with rockwork similar to Disneyland Paris...Natural bridges and buttes...Maybe add some thrilling elements like the Hong Kong jungle cruise on the back bend... Make it a real attraction everyone wants to ride....
Now TSI with new bridges retains what it has but gets some new widened paths, a wider bridge to Fort Sam Clemmons,....which is now the entry point for a new ride. I have dropped the Haunted Mansion Show Building onto the island for size comparison..... With more foot traffic, Aunt Polly's becomes a real restaurant. Frontierland is expanded...another attraction added though regretfully one becomes a set piece, but the traffic on the water increases....Better than filling in the waterway completely and losing the kinetic movement on the waterfront... Frontierland is also no longer a dead end.

Nice idea! AND maybe add a path through the woods behind Haunted Mansion connecting it all. Not taking down the trees but using them for some much needed shade.

I agree it's impressive, but I think it is in some ways over-rated. The queue is phenomenal. The ride itself looks better on a violent ride system. Traveling slowly, many scenes would look similar to the dark rides they have at state fairs.

To be fair, those elements were designed to be seen from a violent ride system. In a show like this, you only spend as much money as you need for the show to look good under show conditions. Same way that The Haunted Mansion isn't designed to look good with the work lights on, and why the backside of the Pirates sets are unthemed - guests are meant to experience the show in a certain way, so you maximize the use of finite cash by making the show only as good as it needs to be to convince the guests. Had Indiana Jones been designed for a slower ride system, the show elements would have been designed to hold up under such scrutiny.

That said, it's true Indiana Jones is not perfect - the blacklight work in the blow-dart tunnel is pretty ineffective, as is the rat tunnel, and the snake isn't the best even under show conditions. Many of the rest of the rides set pieces are left to do the heavy lifting in creating an immersive experience, along with the fabulous queue (designed to be seen close up by guests waiting in a long, slow line).

Like Dino, there are large portions in near complete darkness. But, of course, it's better than Dino. Nothing matches the detail of HM for me.

Mansion and Pirates really are the gold standard for detail in dark rides. That people can still be noticing things in them for the first time after nearly a half century of ridership speaks volumes.

Indy holds its own in a style that can be more closely described as "loud and fast". I think Dino has more going on than people realize - I always find something new when I ride, and am surprised to see there are more effects in it than I ever seem to fully remember - but agree that part of an attraction's mission should be communicating that there's a lot going on, even if you can't determine fully what on the first ride. It should make you want to get right back in line to see what you missed. On that front, it doesn't seem to succeed. Dino feels more like a jerky romp in the dark than it actually is, to the ride's detriment.

After looking at the maps a but, I realized that the reason for all the congestion on this side of the park was due to Frontierland being wedged between Jungle Cruise and Rivers of America. Here is a way to open-up Frontierland while keeping Rivers intact. Just a thought...

I like this! Just add 2 bridges to the island. One near BTMRR and one on along the side of HM making the path go north from the existing queue line. This plan keeps a longer route for the Liberty Bell and keeps access to the service canal. And they could relocate Ft Sam Clemens. Nice.

Yeah.. And where is your contribution to this thread?. Are our images not relevant to the discussion?
I made sure not to single people out on purpose. Posting images of possible expansion areas is commendable and appreciated. Posting your fantastical dream park in the "News and Rumors" forum is not.

Excuse the stick up my rear end, but the former often turns into pages of the latter.

Just a thought. One potential drawback with this scenario is that a greater portion of the attraction budget would probably be allocated toward exterior theming since all sides of the attraction would be visible (think 7DMT). Plus, it could limit additional, associated shops/restaurants due to poor backstage access to this location.

One big difference would be the loss of the show scenes that are around the larger island that you see from the Riverboat. If the Riverboat is changed to only travel around the smaller, lower island it would be a much shorter trip and would lose those show scene -- which IMHO are a big part of the fun.

Those show scenes havent had attention in years, sadly. Half of them dont even work from both river and railroad views, and the burning house has been out for how long now? I would love to see all of that get plussed, fixed, and added to. More details that they have slowly and quietly let go.
