The rain held up here almost exactly at 2:37, and the sun came out. I am not the most spiritual man by any means, but at that moment I almost cried, because I realized that the Pope truly was in God's hands, and away from his suffering.
Blessed is he that has blessed thee.
May one of the greatest men that ever walked this earth, rest in peace.

Well Im not that old, im not a catholic, but Im sure Pope Paul was the pontif in my formative years followed very breifly by JPI who lasted barely a month or so.

News channels and facts, they spin so much that theyre incapable of getting it right.

Pope Pius XII was pope when I was a child, followed by Pope John, then Pope Paul, Pope John Paul I, and finally, Pope John Paul II. I don't remember the election of Pope Paul, but do remember the others; waiting for the white smoke, the Swiss Guard locking the doors, etc.

Our morning paper has the first official portrait of John Paul on the front page this morning. I like to think that God has restored him to the strong, vigorous, purposeful, and happy man I see in that photo.

Let he rest in peace, and he was a great guy who changed the world for Catholics and non-Catholics, and all people around the world, and for his own country....

On another note, I learned somehting from my Dad...that just before he died, he was listening to the crowds outside in the Square praying the Rosary and doing prayers, and that after they finished he did a sign of the cross in the air, a blessing for the crowd, and said, 'Amen', and then he passed. I thought I should share that. It made me choke up a little when I heard that...that was so nice....

Right before he passed, it got dark here and rainy. Very fitting I think. God Bless Him.

Same here... cloudy, windy, cold and with a bit of rain throughout the day... amazing...

Right now, thousands of mexicans are in the streets in Mexico city watching the "Papamóvil" (the special car he used in his visits to our country) do the route again... with the things he wore when he was here. It´s very impressive to see how many people are out there this late at night while he is not physically there anymore. At the zocalo, near the Cathedral, there will be big screens to project the live transmission of the funeral in the Vatican. Same thing at the Basilica of Guadalupe which I am watching on tv right now, while I wait for the funeral. Our flag will be at half mast (or however is called) tomorrow.
The Pope will be resting next to the Chappel of the Virgin of Guadalupe that he ordered to be built in Saint Peter´s Basilica... :)
