Pop Century Standard Rooms?

What buildings are considered standard rooms?

How long does it take to get from the standard rooms to Classic Hall?

There are standard rooms in every section 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's.

There are preferred rooms only in 50's, 60's, and 70's. The preferred rooms are the rooms in these sections that are closest to Classic Hall, if that makes sense.

The standard rooms are still very close to the main area. 5-7 minute walk maybe. :)

Even if it takes 5-7 minutes to walk from your room, it does not seem like it. There is so much to see and if you are walking with someone, time flies. You're at Walt Disney World!

Great, thanks. I am looking forward to my first stay at Pop Century!!!

I don't remember exactly what our room number was, but DH and I went in 2004 - we were in the 90's facing the pool. On a hot day in September, I swore POP off at that time - the walk seemed to take forever. Only 3 years later did I decide to go back, but I pay for a preferred room.

If you cut through the parking lot to the main building, the 80's and 90's are not far at all. If you walk the long way on the paths, it is considerably longer.

It's all about the shortcuts in Pop, especially if you're in the 80's and 90's buildings. We were in Building 7 (one of the 80's buildings) and about Day 2 we realized that it was much faster to ignore the walking signs that try and bring you to the edge of the lake and through the 70's Foosball courtyard.

To get to the food court, you just skirt along the back of the long-side of Building 10 (70's building with the Big Wheel) to the far end. Much faster, less meandering, and less foot traffic. To get to the bus stop, walk out behind Building 9 and go across the parking lot.

Best idea is to just take the map, and draw a straight line with a pen from where you are (or the stairwell you'd use in your building) and where you want to go, and then just use the pathways (and walkways by the rooms in the buildings) that keep you closest to that line.

If you go here, you can see a map of Pop with the Preferred location rooms marked. Everything else that's not marked (even about 1/3 of the 60's rooms) is a standard location room.

I totally agree. The walk isn't far if you take the short cuts through the parking lot. Unfortunatley we didn't realize this a few years ago when we stayed at Pop for the first time. We thought it would be great to stay in the 80's (a little nostalgia to remember the good old days) anyway, the walk seemed endless especially after a long day at the park carrying a sleeping child. On one of the last days of the trip my hubby decided to explore early in the morning while I was getting the kids ready and he discovered how much faster it was to cut through the parking lot.

We were in the 50's building, facing the pool on ground level and it only took us 3 minutes or so to get to Classic Hall. That was just walking at a casual pace too, not running or anything! :ROFLOL:

Our first stay at the POP we were in the 90's facing the parking lot and I agree it was a hike. The next time we were in the 50's Jukebox building and it wasn't bad, this year we are paying for a preferred room just to be safe.

I agree all 4 times I've stayed at Pop I've been in the computer pool area. We actually request it now because it's so close without having to pay extra.

Someone said they go behind some building to get to the food court but we just go through the parking lot and through the shop. That way we can jump on the bus and eat in the park if its there or look at the line to judge how much time we have till the bus gets there.

Are you flying or driving for your vacation?

I ask because we drive and usually find that standard rooms at the values are more likely to skirt the edge of the property, as they should. This means we're closer to the parking lot and our car every morning and evening, which we actually prefer over the preferred locations! I would rather walk a little farther to get to the food court (which we admittedly don't use very often) than to take a long hike at the end of each busy park day.

I realize it's a completely different experience when you don't have access to a car, but I just thought I'd throw it out there for you to consider if you are, in fact, driving.

So excited, we are staying there in Sept for the first time. My DS has been dying to stay there. I requested to stay in either the 50's or 70's section. We didn't pay for a preferred room as we are barely ever in the room. Hope this is a good choice, as I would like to be semi close to Classic Hall and the bus stops!

i stayed there this past summer and was in the 70's building and at first it seemed like we were really close but after the first day we relized that we had to walk around our building to get there and we found a path leading 2 the bus stop and classic hall that took us mabey 2 minutes and the 80's and 90's buildings were right next to us so i definetly would suggest going through the parking lot also one night i was visiting family that was also staying at pop but in the 50's although they had a great view of the lake and illuminations at night it took them forever to walk to classic hall and they were in a perfered location so i wouldnt waste your money on prefered spots.
(oh and have fun pop is a great resort! dont forget to do the hustle in the lobby at 6:animwink:)
