The belief that one object is a weapon, and another object is not a weapon is precisely why discussions like this one prosper.
ANYTHING can be a weapon!!!!
It doesn't have to be sharp, pointed, or shoot projectiles to kill a human.
Just so we are clear...

This is a WEAPON!

That's because the top two were made in Switzerland, which has a nanny Parliamentary Government where everything pointy is considered a weapon.
And the bottom one was made in Finland, a Democratic Republic where it's only a weapon if it's used to harm someone. :D

Agreed, though I would ask which state he was from first, then report him ;) . There was someone earlier said they didn't take "to high school obviously". Why? Because it's the effin rules!!! WDW has rules, if I see one broken I'll report it. Maybe that police officer that just got fired for strangling that student til he passed out could now do security at WDW, he did things his way until he got caught?
But, even the law in FL (or here in GA and I can't think of a state that has any laws much different than this)...defines a weapon as this:

Fla. Stat. § 790.01 (2012)

§ 790.01. Carrying concealed weapons

[A] person who carries a concealed weapon [...] on or about his or her person commits a misdemeanor of the first degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083.

“Concealed weapon” means any dirk, metallic knuckles, slungshot, billie, tear gas gun, chemical weapon or device, or other deadly weapon carried on or about a person in such a manner as to conceal the weapon from the ordinary sight of another person.

“Weapon” means any dirk, knife, metallic knuckles, slungshot, billie, tear gas gun, chemical weapon or device, or other deadly weapon except a firearm or a common pocketknife, plastic knife, or blunt-bladed table knife.

"Except a common pocketknife, plastic knife or blunt-bladed table knife."

Disney doesn't ban knives in their policy. They ban weapons.

From their site (which you linked earlier, btw)

"You may not bring the following types of items into the theme parks:

  • You may not bring the following types of items into the theme parks:
    • Wagons
    • Skateboards
    • Scooters
    • Inline skates
    • Shoes with built-in wheels
    • Strollers larger than 36" x 52" (92 x 132 cm)
    • Suitcases, coolers or backpacks with or without wheels larger than 24" (61 cm) long x 15" (38 cm) wide x 18" (46 cm) high. Coolers required for medication may be stored in a locker or at Guest Relations.
    • Any trailer-like object that is pushed or towed by an ECV, wheelchair or stroller
    • Wheeled mobility devices with less than 3 wheels and devices that cannot maintain stability and balance when stopped, unpowered or unoccupied. Training wheels or similar modifications are not permitted.
  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Weapons of any kind
  • Folding chairs
  • Glass containers (excluding baby food jars and perfume bottles)
  • Pets (unless they are service animals)
  • Balloons, straws and drink lids are not permitted in Disney's Animal Kingdom Park for the safety of our animals
  • Tripod stands or monopod stands that cannot fit inside a standard backpack"

After reading 17 pages of interesting discussion, I would still prefer that pocket knives, or knives of any length, not be brought into the parks.

Having stated the above, I believe that the people who have responded to this thread, that they prefer to carry pocket knives for tools or convenience, pose no threat, IMO. I realize many have used these since they were kids.

My concern is not about them; It's the ones that you'll never hear from (on a friendly, community discussion forum like this), that could enter a park concealing a pocket knife for all the wrong reasons. True, the chances of this ever happening are probably slim, but it's something that crossed my mind.

So let WDW interpret it, and respect their rules on their property, which is what this is all about. And if anyone doesn't want to respect their rules, that's fine, just don't visit their property and all is hunky dory.
I completely agree. But, considering the law in any state doesn't consider a pocketknife a weapon, why would it be unreasonable for an individual to consider the "ban on weapons" to apply to their penknife or multitool?

It wouldn't.

Now, if Disney said NO KNIVES, different story. But they don't, they say no weapons.

A pocketknife is not a weapon, it is a tool.

Except that I've proven that by Florida law it is NOT a weapon. And I doubt that the majority of guests are concerned with who has what. I'd bet my paycheck on it.

However, please don't get what I'm saying mixed up, each person has their own opinion on the subject and that's fantastic. I'm simply arguing this from the logical standpoint now.
Oh, I'm way behind you in the thread. Hahaha, didn't realize you already went there. Sorry!
