Pixie Hollow To Replace Swiss Family Treehouse?

People, Tinker Bell and her merry band of nitwits, I mean fairies aren't going to be replacing Swiss Family Robinson... Fact is, since Avatar has seemingly went from a huge land to one ride, TDO has decided to save money, yet again... They decided to turn the Swiss Family Treehouse into a Na'vi clan hometree... They figured, this will give the parks the Avatar content Iger wants while saving them the cost of having to design and build new rides and a new land... No, there will not be any blue cat people walking around, just a few props from the movie inside the treehouse... Each Na'vi clan lived in a hometree.. This is perfect... Set up the treehouse as a Na'vi clan hometree, add no attraction, sames millions!!!! Bigger bonuses for the execs, and the rubes who visit WDW wouldn't know the difference... Yes, best decision EVER!!!

***this post is sarcastic in case anyone thought I was serious about this being the best decision ever***

WDWs 'Swiss Family Treehouse' is pretty spectacular. Very cool and 'old school' classic diversion.
I would like to see it stay for a while..but we all know how Disney seems to love to cram in character references everywhere. Let us hope it will be a while before they feel a need to do this with SWT.

raven24, you will love exploring it 'again'...!

I barely remember anything LOL. I just remember there being a treehouse, then Tarzan was released in theaters and not too long after, the treehouse closed and reopened as a Tarzan attraction. That's really the only memory I have of SFR, but I can clearly remember when Tarzan's Treehouse opened. I remember Jane, Tarzan and Terk used to meet there, but now they're nowhere to be found in the park, except Terk who's in the parade. I'm looking forward to SFR.

Two not very deep thoughts since I'm just now noticing and digesting this rumor - 1) SFT is beloved by us hard core fans, which doesn't guarantee it will survive (see - Horizons, Mr.Toad, WoM, AE, etc) but maybe, just maybe, the company considers backlash from serious theme park aficionados a bad thing?
2) A really well done PH area would be a nice addition and boys and girls would like it. Of course, I'm picturing something way cooler than what they would do...little fairies flitting around your head whilst the leaves in yonder trees twinkle in a come hither fashion that only the hardest of heart could resist.

Properly positioned the castle could be included in the sightlines as could the Crystal Palace making for a very nice tableau of an English countryside. Add a reimagining of the Swan Boats and you have a seriously magical mini-land for young girls. And the MK needs that.

Sorry if the thought of this makes Lee's hair fall out.

I have the utmost faith in Disney's inner destructive politics and inability to actually spend money to keep this from ever happening.

The problem is, due to the precise factors you mention, if it did happen where it will fall on the continuum between god awful and super impressive is pretty much random chance.

That stereotypical boy-centric land balances out the girl centric-ness of everything else.

Outside of the new Fantasyland, what is girl-centric? There is an entire land decicated to cowboys and another dedicated to space. The resort as a whole skews towards traditionally male interests. There is actually relatively little that is aimed specifically to girls.

And there is far less princess stuff than people think. Even with the FLE.

Total Blue Sky fun: Leave the SFT as is, there's a good bit of space in the woods around it that I think is where the old Swan boats went to sleep at night. They could use the old dock next to the castle to transport guests to Pixie hollow is boats shaped like leaves, the ride would take them around the hub and back in to the woods in adventureland where there would be Tink and all her friends nestled in among the trees. A)You would be able to see glimpses into Pixie Hollow from the walkway along the entrance of AL till you got to the SFT. B) This would create a nice relaxing trip to a secluded area for a meet-n-greet, because of the time needed to acomplish getting there via boat, meeting everyone, and getting back, it would be a nice capacity boost to the park and not infringe on anything existing, but utilize some "forgotten" areas and add more themeing to others.

This sounds like a reasonable idea. Or in the new Fantasyland area you just opened would be better. Leave the tree alone for heavens sake.

Interesting that this has received a similar reaction to what FLE 1.0 got. PH in AdvLand might be the consequence of killing princess mountain. Be careful what you ask for and all that.

Here is why PH makes sense in this scenario.....

It is a relevant franchise and the MK needs more girl-centric attractions. A few M&G's is not enough. SFR has long since past its prime. And I can't ever imagine Disney wanting to bring back this property.

PH can be secluded and not be an intrusion on the overall aesthetics of AdvLand. The current architecture of the tree house can easily be adapted to a new storyline. It would be magical for the target audience and that is what matters.

It makes it possible to incorporate the swan boats again in an amazing way should they choose.

The themeing of the treehouse to Swiss Family has absolutely no bearing on the existence of the Swan Boats.

Most here hate the idea because they covet that expansion pad for an E-Ticket Adventure. I agree that the land needs at least another E-Ticket.
The plot of land it is using is way too small for a "E" ticket attraction and has never been considered a viable expansion for such.

Might I offer a simple solution? Simply move the Jungle Cruise concept to DAK with a unique application unseen at any other Disney park.
Probably the WORST idea you have ever come up with JT. Plus there is already a viable "E" ticket expansion pad just waiting to be used right behind Jungle Cruise.

Then there is plenty of land for all sorts of new Adventures. And even a modest expansion of MSUSA.
The only MS expansion it would afford would be backstage unless they totally rebuilt the west side of Main Street.

Because everything is not all about you.
What does that have to do with any of your hypotheses?

Alright folks, let me clear this up and say that this is a Blue Sky rumor. Says so on WdwThemeParks.com and I trust the source. His spirits I've been told roam this site.Plus in addition it ignited from Jim Hill (who's a hit or miss on insight) so that says something as well. If this were to come into fruition, I would not set foot in Adventureland (well okay just POTC and ETR). Anyhow like @Lee and others have said, this would reek of desperate times and measures for TDO. But not that it's a shocker to most here. And to those of you who would see this as a nice or welcome addition to this area, what in the bloddy hell does Pixie Hollow have anything to do with the theme of Adventure or exotic wonders of the World. Remember on that Disneyland TV Show that debuted on ABC in 1954, that show taught us Adventureland is supposed to be the wonder world of nature's own realm. There's a reason why PH (or to a broader extent PP) ONLY belongs/works in Fantasyland, not Adventureland. So yeah don't get worked up about this as it is a blue sky rumor. Although I like the idea of making a modern day SFR movie to make that IP relevant agian.:)

Yet they could so easily be tied together.

Size matters not.

OK, so add two E-Tickets! Or even three.

The only MS expansion it would afford would be backstage unless they totally rebuilt the west side of Main Street.

Something like the add they did when they added the W.D. Story could work or a new restaurant or boutique hotel. Any one of which could have access through a repurposed guest services.

Obviously you do not have young daughters. The concept is perfect for families with young girls. The MK could use this. And please no SFR. Just no.

The selfish part of me understands the nostalgia of SFT, plus we go on it every few trips. But that's the key - its not a must-do for us, its just something we like to do every once in a while. If they put in a well thought out overlay or update, shoot, go for it. I always try to keep in mind - its not a museum, its a theme park

I like it better with the Anaheim and Orlando tree houses having different themes. I don't see much value in converting the WDW treehouse to Tarzan anyway; it's not a popular enough franchise to warrant the money spent.

okay see that's the thing with Disney movies. they could become popular and treasured classics by the public. if they marketed them properly. and in a way i'm not just talking about in the parks, though that does help significantly. just in general i mean, but Disney barely touches like a good 75% of what they have, give or take a few percentages. Tarzan could have such a huge presence in Adventureland and Animal Kingdom, they wouldn't even need the treehouse really. like marketing Tarzan to make it popular enough is so easy for them to do and they just aren't doing it and it just irks me so much!

and you make a point, but really it's not so much that i want what DLR has (even though they have a fair amount of exclusive things that i'm just a tad bit jealous about  ), it's more like how did DLR come up with that idea and we've been stuck with SFT for decades after its prominence was gone, ya know? like logically Tarzan's Treehouse makes more sense NOW than Swiss Family Treehouse.

idk whatever it's just one more wrong thing in Magic Kingdom that hurts my brain. Adventureland can be so much more than it is but instead they're focusing more on the one corner of the land for Pirate BS and just *bangs head on keyboard*

Yes JT, I have not yet been able to get a birdseye view of my girlfriend's baby oven being put into action or proper use. The Mk could use it, but I don't want it in AL. I want it to be in Fantasyland and still wish PH was built north of Storybook Circus. Just a fundamental disagreement that's all. Not gonna lie, even though I detest the way they have handled Tink over the years (mainly having her talk), I do like all those Pixie Fairy films they've made. Why the hate for Swiss Family Robinson though?

By some of the logic here, the solution to supposedly alienating one gender is to re-purpose an attraction so that it alienates the other. Might just be me but that makes no sense.

The SFT is an attraction that is gender neutral and perfect for the whole family, if you don't like then that's fine but gearing it more towards girls is not going to make it more popular if families with young boys are going to avoid it entirely because it carries no appeal to them. If they have to re-purpose it then do so with a theme that appeals to everyone, regardless of age or gender.

Here's just a thought..... Possibly a more realistic one, or more financially feasable one.

Instead of Avatar, Why not put Pixie Hollow in DAK? You could totally out a themed Tinkerbelle land where Camp Minnie-Mickey is. Much easier IMO.

Just don't think SFR translates to today's audience. I understand the nostalgic attachment some have but it just is not relevant to a younger generation. I was all for PH in the FLE. And would love another expansion of FLE towards the north. I just do not think that is in the cards. The MK really does need some attractions for young girls and this seems to be a reasonable solution to that idea. Especially considering the potential of the Swan Boats.

JMHO. It is not like I have any influence over such decisions.
