just put the fairies in the princess hall meet and greet
and if they feel they need to update the tree house they could re theme it like the one in DL to Tarzan

Do kids today just not understand the concept of a treehouse? The Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse doesn't need any explanation or relevance. It is exactly what you see and imagine.
And it is a great attraction for that very reason alone. Ambience & adventure without princess, pixies, or Pixar jumping out at you every turn. Simply fun classic Disney.

TDO: Leave the Robinson's alone!!

What i dislike is all the talk about boys versus girls areas. It is Disney and people like Disney because it is Disney. All Kids like Disney movies like POTC because it works for all kids not just boys. Pixie Hollow works for all little kids not just boys or girls. Disney is not gender specific and was never meant to be. It is about families enjoying time together Yes there are things girls or boys like more however they go to Disney for the full experience not for a girl or boy thing. My grandkids love all of Disney not just what you are calling gender specific things.

BTW as a Disney lover since the 50's when it all started the SFRT needs to have something done. Making a movie to be relevant is cost prohibitive. SFR is 60's and not remembered by few under 50. It is so irrelevant today. It needs to be changed into anything that would make people actually use it. I go to WDW a lot and seldom do I see any one in the tree. Another area that needs rethinking is the Tiki birds another irrelevant item due to it's age just like the SFRT. Sorry folks sometimes things get old and need replacing.

If only that was true.... How many 7 yr old boys like princesses? No Disney is not gender specific but to deny that there is not a princess overload is simply.....well being in denial.

There were plans to remake the SFR movie. The rumors were that WIll Smith was going to star in it. Not sure what happened to the plan. Sure SFR isnt relevent to young people today. But the parks are supposed to have something to appeal to everyone. I am over 50 and it appeals to me. Old? So your old....lets replace you. There are a lot of attractions that are old. Some get refurbed but not replaced. Relevant? Is CBJ relevant to anything?

This is another post.....I dont like it so it needs to go.

i think the fairies is one of the best meet and greets in the park surprisingly i dont think they belong in the tree even though it fits a fairy theme id like them to be in a more visible area cause they are great for just watching great guest interaction

I'm sorry but I believe fairies have no business in adventure land! I always thought they belonged in fantasyland! They need to turn the old Peter Pan bathrooms an use them to build a fairy m n g where it belongs! I always thought it was so out of place and random that the fairies and Peter meet here!

Now onto the tree... I say either leave it be, or update it to Tarzan, which both are cohesive to the adventure land esthetic!

Exactly!! I loved going through this as a child imagining myself being able to live there and how cool it would be (5yrs old 1980). We always go through this every trip. I would be deeply saddened to see this go. There is plenty of room elsewhere for the Pixies to go. The original FLE was supposed to have a space for them, so put them somewhere over there.

I'll end this debate once and for all. Those who think transforming the SFT into an Ewoke village is a much better idea vote "like"!

I, too, am skeptical that a fairy treehouse would really happen. But this thread got me thinking that SFR probably has outlived its relevancy there. Of all the aging MK attractions, this one would seem to be the cheapest to fix up to regain some capacity. The question is what else could replace it?

I'm surprised so many have mentioned Tarzan. I think the DL tree rehab turned out just as cartoony as anything I can imagine for the fairy franchise. The plastic mall window display figures are really out of place. Even worse (and does anyone know why?) they reversed the direction of traffic when they rehabbed DL's tree, so all of the pathways designed to show you views of the jungle now face ugly rooftops.

The key word someone mentioned is "atmosphere". That's what makes the treehouse special. It doesn't matter what you see when you get up there, its the experience of climbing the stairs and discovering the creative home that was built. If the attraction was named "Disney's Treehouse" it would be just as interesting, since I don't think too many care or know about Fritz and Ernst. Obviously Disney would do something more than a name change. But they wouldn't have to add many new props to inject some new interest.

Interesting that this has received a similar reaction to what FLE 1.0 got. PH in AdvLand might be the consequence of killing princess mountain. Be careful what you ask for and all that.

Here is why PH makes sense in this scenario.....

It is a relevant franchise and the MK needs more girl-centric attractions. A few M&G's is not enough. SFR has long since past its prime. And I can't ever imagine Disney wanting to bring back this property.

PH can be secluded and not be an intrusion on the overall aesthetics of AdvLand. The current architecture of the tree house can easily be adapted to a new storyline. It would be magical for the target audience and that is what matters.

It makes it possible to incorporate the swan boats again in an amazing way should they choose.

Most here hate the idea because they covet that expansion pad for an E-Ticket Adventure. I agree that the land needs at least another E-Ticket. Might I offer a simple solution? Simply move the Jungle Cruise concept to DAK with a unique application unseen at any other Disney park. Then there is plenty of land for all sorts of new Adventures. And even a modest expansion of MSUSA.

Because everything is not all about you.

When my family first took me to WDW in the 80s SWT was closed for refurbishment. I remember being so disappointed because my Father loved Swiss F. R. and as a result I loved it too. I was thrilled when I finally got back and was able to climb the treehouse and heard the Swisskapolka music from the organ. I really hope TDO rejects this terrible idea. I doubt there is ANYONE that would be disappointed if they just left the treehouse ALONE.

Let's see, where to continue with other comments on this idiotic idea.

1. MK is too princess centric and the boys as well as girls need Adventureland to remain pixie free.
2. Pirates was "irrelevant" to younger generations until a recent set of movies re-ignited interest. Seems like a cheap attraction that would be prime cross-promotion for not only a new movie, but the original as well. Never mind that a book (reading, what is that?) exists to ground this whole experience.
3. It would cost too much money to convert to PH with no ROI, a re-booted movie would offer box-office returns.
4. Every other objection raised or yet to be raised.

Unfortunately, these are precisely the reasons why lack of sense will have TDO put PH at SFRT before there are any real additions/repairs done anywhere else in WDW.

why?

just. put. Tarzan. there.

I like it better with the Anaheim and Orlando tree houses having different themes. I don't see much value in converting the WDW treehouse to Tarzan anyway; it's not a popular enough franchise to warrant the money spent.

Two not very deep thoughts since I'm just now noticing and digesting this rumor - 1) SFT is beloved by us hard core fans, which doesn't guarantee it will survive (see - Horizons, Mr.Toad, WoM, AE, etc) but maybe, just maybe, the company considers backlash from serious theme park aficionados a bad thing?
2) A really well done PH area would be a nice addition and boys and girls would like it. Of course, I'm picturing something way cooler than what they would do...little fairies flitting around your head whilst the leaves in yonder trees twinkle in a come hither fashion that only the hardest of heart could resist.

The Rescue Rangers are always ready for an ADVENTURE....plus they like living in trees ;)
Even a Jungle Book theme would work!

No. That's not a good enough excuse to have a Chip and Dale in Adventureland. Peter Pan and the Darling children love adventures, but they don't belong in Adventureland.

The Jungle Book is a different story. That fits better than Chip and Dale.

If SFT needs a 'update', convert it to something more befitting to Adventureland.

Perhaps a refurb into a WDW version of DLs 'Tarzans Treehouse'..? That would 'modernize' the theme if need be, and bring a classic character that has been associated with 'adventure' for ages into the Park.
Seems a perfect fit, although i am not usually a fan of 'cloning' attractions.

'Tarzans Treehouse' in DL is special.
