So, you admit it's also a show. :p

Not sure why you have the desire to defend it. lol. It's a glorified meet and greet no matter how much you want to call it a show. The kids hold up cardboard and interact as a group allowing the parents to watch. It's an "attraction", but it really shouldn't be, is the point. But I don't begrudge it's place, I just don't like what they try to sell it as.

Since when were the characters this much of a draw? Im constantly amazed at when I was a kid, you would see the characters around and there wasn't a need for a line/attraction o go with it. I thought I was dreaming it, but watching old videos, seeing pictures, etc...Im amazed that there will just be a character walking around and not getting mobbed, confirming my memory.

Was the "attractionification" of characters something Disney wanted, or is it a response to guest demand? I just find standing in line for 120 minutes to see a person in a costume to be so strange.
As I recall they used to come out and wander around, stopping here and there for a few minutes before moving on. Then as the parks got fuller they used to come out get mobbed, move a little and get stuck in one place and then go back in after a while. Then they used to get out the gate, get mobbed, stay just outside the gate and then go back in. After that they started getting escorted out to a predetermined spot by the handler who would not let anyone approach the character until they reached the spot. They would then stay in that spot with guests mobbing all around. Then they moved the spot to little corners they could cordon off to create a space for a line to form. Since that time, the character attraction was born. They figured out they could put the characters inside in the AC and they could stay longer vs the characters who could not work very long in the heat. Thus we have the indoor character attractions.

The research team just calculated the PCQ at a whopping 99.987%...this is unparalleled!!!

For the most part these enhanced meet and greets are a good thing. All meet and greets should be as "magical" IMO.

The biggest benefit: A family of 4 standing in 45min queue to see Mr Incredible and Jack Jack = 4 less people queuing for Splash Mountain. Win for foot traffic. Win for Disney. Win for me in the line for Splash.

And I don't know what PCQs mean...
“Plans change quotient”...its statistical model that attempts to gauge the actual chance something gets built. It takes its name from the Latin: excusita imagineeros...which means it’s typically the reason discussion reported as “plans” get torpedoed.

Many factors create the algorithm...but the usual computations include overzealous hope, boredom, and failure to make real world sense...

If you notice in this case: this started when the movie opened based on initial knee jerk fervor and appears to have been mostly water cooler - at least treated so by the accountants. Those discussions appear to have originated roughly 12 hours after the films premiere and took heavy input from Rotten Tomatoes user scores.

I wish they would have taken those from last jedi 😉

I have a team of deeply in debt, Ivy League graduate, ambiguous math degree holders who work on these things at night - because that’s all their schedules waiting tables at the Olive Garden and/or PF Chang’s on Rt. 1 outside Princeton, Nj allows...

We’ve made good progress...but it’s always when you’re close that things can go “poof” when dealing with the supposition and here say.

Thanks for the explanations, it sounds like a very interesting project, good luck!

Or you could just make the queue lead to a ride...but that's just my opinion. There wasn't really much reason to remove an Omni ride, like Snow White, and replace it with a line that leads to a themed room and a princess.

and by a "themed Room" you mean an "extremely lightly themed Marriott stlye meeting room"... The loss of a ride for a meet and greet was shocking and terrible. Unfortunately far too many people seemed to applaud this change.

Would there be a way to redo the queue area without removing the retail space and restaurant?
Probably so. It’s hard enough to get to the ride as is it right now as a walk on attraction. Just think of the crowd for a “new attraction”. Now if they would open it around the same time as the Rat ride it could help offset the crowd on one side of WS. Plus, Frozen 2 comes out in 2019 and we will see what f they strike gold again. At least they took their time with the second movie. I haven’t watched Coco yet on Netflix.
