Pixar Place Expansion

I agree with a Muppets themed restaurant... that would be something!

Personally, I'd like to see another thrill ride. I'd also like to see a revamp of rockin' rollercoaster, I say this not with any critisism of the ride itself but more the theme. Aerosmith? Yeah... out of the mainstream many years ago. If you asked kids in the que... who is aerosmith, you'll hear crickets.

I agreed. Ever since Monsters Inc. came out I knew the doors scene would make a fabulous e-ticket roller coaster for Disney! The thrill and excitement is built in, plus it is the type of ride that could last for a long time throughout generations. I would love to see "A Bug's Life" play area instead of the HSK's because unfortunately, even though I grew up on those movies, they are outdated. I could see so much creativity involved with ABL play area. In addition to Pixar Place I'd love to see a water ride or roller coaster addition themed with The EAC from "Finding Nemo"...Crush could take guests on a wild ride along with Squirt. When I saw that scene in Finding Nemo, my wannabe imagineering radar was in full alert!

You could have made that agrument maybe even two years ago. But Steven Tyler is more popular than ever now thanks to American Idol, and in that age group as well.

Note my emphasis. I have a quick question. Are these still possible?
Also, I gather from many of your posts that you are a bit disappointed regarding the direction that Disney has taken over the years. I hope that you don't mind my asking, but what is your opinion on the topic of bigger thrill rides in comparison to the "mellower" Disney rides planned for things such as the Fantasyland expansion? Do you think that Disney should expand its horizons, so to speak, and create more of a thrill ride environment? I'm very mixed, and believe that there is room for both.
Interesting question. Sorry to hog the thead.

I`m disappointed with the direction of attractions in Orlando, yes. I`m a great believer in E tickets not being white knuckle. Potter and Spiderman, Star Tours, Indy Adventure and the like all succeed despite there not being 3gs of force, 60mph speeds or the like. There are amazing effects, ride systems and story in their place.

The (relative) success of Seas with Nemo and Gran Fiesta was a bolt to the bosses that dark rides can still work. Hence Mermaid. The fact we have to loose a dark ride for the FLE is a no-brainer and an example of loosing the bigger picture. FLE is a bad example though.

There are tonnes of ideas ready to be built in Glendale, thrill and family, it just needs a management mentality to focus on what the parks used to be - themed parks full of unique, top of the range attractions - and not DVC, Strip Malls, meet n greets, Next Gen, new restaurants and the like. All these would have been the icing on the cake 20 years ago instead of the only news stories for months on end. Mermaid will show the mentality still exists, as will RSR. It shows what can be done when minds and money are put to it. Otherwise we may never have another HM, PotC, or Splash Mountain.

And so far as I know, the MI Coaster is still teetering on green. RSR in Orlando was never green.

Were there ever any blueprints or rough concept art for the Monsters Inc. Coaster that were leaked onto the Internet? Would love to see something. I know about the jim hill article, but it's not that good and his writing style sucks. Does anyone have anything?

Thanks for the reply. I must say that one of the things that makes WDW so attractive to me is the fact that we get a detailed story with many of the rides, as well as with much of the generally ambient atmosphere. I believe that theme is the factor that makes the parks both fun and interesting. I think that this is what makes a flaw such as the malfunctioning Yeti such a shame; the attraction should culminate with his appearance, but his appearance has actually become a non-event. One of the things that amazes me about the Tower of Terror is that a simple drop-ride is transformed into a wonderfully immersive story with an authentic atmosphere from start to finish.
I would love to have a few rides that are "white knuckle", but I honestly don't see them as necessary factors for WDW. I would just like to see them spend their energy on creativity and upkeep. A few more Pixar-themed attractions wouldn't bother me a bit as long as they involved the type of creativity that once put Disney on top of the theme park tier. I believe that Disney's union with Pixar is a reality that is avoided in a sometimes unreasonable fashion by some Disney fans. I really wouldn't complain if Disney focused on their so-called classic characters, but the Pixar characters are today's reality.

I think I would rather have RSR. Of course if was up to me I would do something with the incredibles first. And the Idea about the muppet restaurant, gold! And thats not just because they are my all time faves. ;)

I personally hope that after the Fantasyland stuff they decide to pull a DCA at DHS...construction walls up all over the back areas...beefing the park up with about four or five big new attractions to fix up all the issues DHS has at the moment. Two rides or so in the Pixar Place area would be excellent. I see the moving of Pizza Planet as a thematic must at this point, and IF they finally go ahead with the Monsters Inc Coaster and maybe a Radiator Springs Racers style ride, then Studios will finally be getting to where it needs to be. More rides. Not more shows.

I personally want RSR to stay over in DCA. That park needs as many unique attractions as possible imo, and I think it's kinda insane that they're constantly cloning evey single new attraction that opens at DCA across the Mississippi in the same nation! I'm planing on going to Disneyland very soon, but if WDW & DL continue to share E-Tickets, I just assume head to WDW and experience more parks. Cloning overseas? Fine. Cloning major E-Tickets in the same country? I don't think it's the best strategy to just drop carbon copies of attractions in every single Disney Park there is. If you must clone, you should work to make the experience unique to that Park while still maintaining what made the ride a classic in the first place.
Well there's my rant for the day...

As for what I wanna see in a Pixar Place expansion, I say build the M:I coaster, then expand futher with either The Incredibles, or Up, and top it all of with the Rattitoulle dark ride planned for WDS in Paris, along with Guestux's, which overlooks the load area of the attraction just like the Blue Bayou in DL's PotC.

I just hope they put another ride there, to help with the TSMM crowd problem. Just anything to divert the throngs of people to another choice.

Shows are important though. Shows and restaurants help manage the large number of people there. While I personally avoid most shows like the plague, I'm appreciative that they suck lots of people off of the paths and from ride queues.

True. A new generation knows who he is now. Not sure if thats a good or a bad thing though... I could see them retheming RNR to something American Idol styled if Aerosmith backed out. It gets ratings - two park entities would be positive for them, though losing Aerosmith would hurt some of the male parkgoers.

I would prefer that we get an attraction for a franchise they haven't used in any of the parks already. Incredibles ride perhaps.

Oh I hope we don't get another idol attraction. I don't see aerosmith giving up a nice royalty check, disney would be the party to cancel the contract.
