Sad to see a classic attraction remove an iconic scene. I agree with the others who have stated Disney should have at least kept the "we wants the Redhead" line and had the Redhead shoot towards the pirates who said it. In my opinion, that would have been a tasteful update that honors a beloved scene and script while showing sensitivity to those who found the original auction scene offensive. On a side note, I will sorely miss Paul Frees performance as the original auctioneer's voice. New audio just doesn't measure up to the old.

I think the new dialogue/voices bothers me more than the change of the scene, selling the women was a little creepy, but I'm going to miss hearing Paul Frees' Auctioneer.

"We wants the red head!" was the iconic bit of that whole scene though, she was "the star of the show" and now she's just a supporting character, and her new "bubbly, up beat" attitude is kind of odd, it not only seems a little off for a pirate, but she's gone from being a "femme fatale" to a weird kind "cheerleader" ...and for some reason the big, clunky, boots they gave her bother me, "flashing some leg" was like her "signature move", but she seemed more mysterious and dangerous without the guns, boots, and voice. Like the "pre-Constance" versions of bride in the Haunted Mansion, I think turning her into a character makes her less interesting. I used to always wonder if the Red Head from the original auction scene "liked the attention" or if it was just a ploy to get out of that situation, is she just biding her time? maybe the drunken pirate who buys her might end up getting stabbed by her or something so she can then make her escape... she seemed more dangerous before

I have a Christmas Tree ornament of the Red Head that hangs out on my desk, it's modeled on the original Marc Davis concept art of the character, but it she has this sly, mysterious, expression on her face... and I have no idea what she's thinking

If people want some good news the mermaids have been taken out of the cave scene. So it’s back to the old Dead Man Tell No Tales audio.
If I recall correctly there was supposed to be mermaid projections in the water, which I had never actually seen. The whole mermaid thing never really lived up to the expectation. Was the mermaid skeleton part of that addition?
