Once the bride auction scene is changed, how does the following "chase" scene with the women chasing the men make sense?

Does that mean we can't talk about the Mayor being dunked in the town well either?

Hot button?

The Nanny State moderators, tattle tale morality squads and precious snowflakes on these boards are really beginning to lose it.

"Ignore button" tell no tales. Feel free to use it.

I personally would like to see Pirates turned into the "Happiest cruise that ever sailed the Spanish Main".

"Snowflakes", really?

Come on, the forum has rules, the mods made a separate thread for the social commentary, what's the big deal? All the bases are covered, so why call others "snowflakes" if you're just going to complain about things not being done the way you want them to be done? Folks could really stand to cool down, nobody's rights are being hamstrung, here.

Hmmm....carefully treading into this forum and here are my thoughts as a member of the female section of the human race.

Disney has discarded the moral message of the original Pirates ride by inserting Jack into the mix. They are now following the movies (read IP) more closely than than their original message on piracy. I never did like the "bride auction" scene.

I am an avid fan of actual pirate lore and yes, there were female Pirates of the Caribbean. I wish Disney would go toward a humorous version of something like the reality of pirate cities. There is a book, "The Republic of Pirates" out there. There is a code of rules. Each flag has a meaning. Motive is unique to each adventure.

I would appreciate consistency in the attraction...either humorous fiction or tailored to those ridiculous movies but please, some sense of theme please. A little bit of historical accuracy wouldn't hurt.

If piracy now "pays", as it does for Jack, be consistent. If this behavior does not, then show that.

BTW...I do not "heart" Jack Sparrow. As every freaking shirt in the gift shop suggest. I did buy a men's sweatshirt that said "Dead Men Tell No Tales".

I must offer a public apology to any I called stupid yesterday. That was uncalled for. Posters ignoring warnings, in multiple threads, to refrain from political/social discussions is irritating, and I overreacted. Especially when I log in to discover a couple dozen reported posts, all in the same thread. A thread that was specifically created to replace one that was moved to another forum because it became mired in a discussion of social mores!
A new subforum was created specifically so those sort of issues can be discussed without derailing more general WDW threads. Please keep any political/social discussions there.

No worries Mom. :)

Funny enough about the changes though, the opening of the ride in DisneyLand video popped up on my recommendations feed on YouTube last night. Started watching the video and the following was said at the beginning and I quote "Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world." (- Walt Disney)

I am really starting to roll with these new changes that are coming to PoTC. Disney is just going with new things/themes. I could see other changes taking place throughout the ride in years to come too.

The pirates are still trying to steal, pillage, and plunder so it makes perfect sense. The women are chasing the men out of their house.
You do realize that in the WDW version, the women are holding trays of food, so it appears that they are chasing after food, and not the women. It has been this way since opening day. The original DL version does not have the trays of food.

The trays of food were added in the 90s...it was the women the pirates were after...it was the lusty chase scene...even the rooster was chasing the hen around the fountain...
the joke of the scene was the final balcony, the woman was chasing the pirate with a broom... Of course the joke doesn't work anymore with the focus changed...

1. Please do not post anything which is inappropriate in a family setting.

From the ToS. It was funny, but inappropriate. Anyone interested can look up Key & Peele pirates.

They're stealing and pillaging.. but for some odd reason, still seem strapped for cash, hence they're holding a civilized auction.. as pirates do..:rolleyes: selling their stolen goods to the current town that they are pillaging and burning to the ground. lol.
