So who's going to see POTC4 this weekend? We'll be there Thursday night for a midnite screening.

Has anyone been lucky enough to see POTC4 yet? I know there was some sort of special screening at Disneyland park a few weeks ago. Anyone have any reviews yet?

Either way, I am beyond excited for this film saga to pick up once again on the big screen. Three days and counting. :D

I need to catch up first... I still haven't watched "At World's End". *hides*
I don't go to many movies in the theaters, but I'd love to go see this one... If only my oldest daughter was as big of a PotC fan as I am. :(

Wanna watch the first 3 movies again on Blu-ray then I'll go see it. But I do want to see it hopefully on the standard screen. I hate this 3D bruhaha for full length movies. I had a very hard time with that for Up. (never again) 3D effects for or rides though, not so bad.

Down to about 4 hrs left before our midnight pirate showing. I'll post my review/comments tomorrow. Anyone else seeing it at midnight tonight?

Just saw it, and I have to say I really liked it. Not as good as the first, but probably better than 2 & 3. I brought a non-pirates fan with me, and she enjoyed it too.

Yeah I really enjoyed it. I thought it was a little racy for kids but most of the adult jokes would probably go over the little ones' heads.

I liked the last 2 sequels even though they had their problems. Although I'm disapointed the critic reaction isn't looking so good for this one so far. :(

Oh well, I'm still going to watch it and decide for my self this afternoon.

I was watching the twitter stream for #Pirates4 after I got home last night, as I tend to trust the reviews of the general public more than critics. Most people seemed to enjoy the movie, and many people said things like "I don't care what the reviews said, #Pirates4 was awesome!" I think that word of mouth will work in favor of this movie, as it's far better than the reviews would have you think.

Saw it last night at midnight.

The short review....Not quite as good as 1 but much better than 2 and 3.....and I liked 2 and 3.

MINOR SPOILERS BELOW

Overall I thought the movie was great. It had a good, fairly uncomplicated story line. The movie did not need to be carried by special effects but the ones that were used enhanced the story. About the only real issue I had with the movie was the character Philip. He was a supporting character but the movie left him completely undeveloped. He was utterly uninteresting and his only redeeming quality was that he always did the right thing. Think Will Turner minus the charisma, sword fighting, and brains. It seemed like his entire presence in the move was to simply have that unwavering good guy for one plot point. Other than that he had no business being in the movie at all.

Most critics are full of themselves and take their reviews too seriously. They act like they are writing for a Pulitzer. I think they forget the object of going to a movie is to enjoy yourself and escape from the every day.

Exactly. I go to a movie for the purpose of enjoying myself. Most critics seem to have lost that ability. All they know how to do is look for fault and IMHO it destroys their ability to actually write an accurate review.

Anyone can be a critic, thats why I don't go by what they say, its pretty much their opinion. Half the time the movies they hate, I love and vice versa.

Think for yourselfer
Pirates takes in 4.7 million from midnight showings on thursday. Up 25% from what Fast Five took in its midnight shows. Fast 5 went on to gross 86 mill in the 1st weekend. If pirates follows a similar course, it is going to go over 100 mill opening. Box office success = Pirates 5. So I am rooting hard.
