Pirates Of The Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides thread

I loved this movie. I still am not sure if I like Black Pearl or Dead Man's Chest more, but I now know that Stranger Tides ranks right up there with them. I can't wait to go and see it again.

Spoiler

As it was mentioned before, I too was kind of confused about the powers that Blackbeard held. It looked like maybe the sword and boat were the key and not necessarily Blackbeard. Barbossa held the powers at the end. Still wasn't properly revealed.

END Spoiler

That said, I really am starting to despise critics. I am very much into reading reviews, checking movie sites and even posting my own reviews often, but I have found reviewers to be so down on movies lately. I know they are critics, but damn are they critical. I feel like they need to relax and just enjoy a movie for once. Most of the general audience does not have the mind set of a critic and don't necessarily point out the fact that the story is too convoluted, that there just isn't a romance between characters or that plot jumps around too much. We all go to the movies for fun and to enjoy a good show. Sometimes we are let down, but that is only because we enjoy characters and people in the films so much. There is no reason to be let down by On Stranger Tides. It was a blast!

There be spoilers ahead!

When it comes to the Blackbeard powers thing.....We can tell from the end of the movie that it is somehow connected to whomever wears the sword and not Blackbeard himself. We do not need to know everything. Something needs to be saved for the next one

While I enjoyed this 4th installment, and would not mind seeing it continued into part 5. I am hoping that for the sake of the franchise, that they hire a new writer and director. We need a new fresh take, otherwise this franchise is headed for the locker.

Yeah, I'm really perplexed how it has a lower tomato rating than AWE when virtually everyone on here has said that its a huge improvement over AWE.

What does everyone think happened to Phillip since they left that completely open?

I imagine that he was taken to wherever the mermaids live and was made into one of them. My assumption is that there are mermen but that the women are much better "equipped" to be the hunters, considering that most sailors and pirates wouldn't be seduced by Gerard Butler with fins.

I don't know if that's fair. The critical consensus on a lot of recent action movies like Thor, Fast Five, and Source Code has been very positive.

I agree. I know its not every action/adventure movie but the vast majority it seems they have the review written and their mind made up that they are going bash it, before the movie even comes out. It seems most of the critics think if you like a movie like this, it makes you less respectable as a critic. I feel that its worse with sequels.
