I just wanted to say that if anyone was on the fence about getting PhotoPass+, I whole heartedly 100% recommend getting it! I am currently going through my pictures! They must have taken over 150 of us! And all the meal and ride pics! Its just amazing!!

I'm adding the pics to my trip report right now and love being able to relive the entire trip!!

I just looked on the Disney website and I cannot see where to purchase the Photopass+. If I book through my AAA travel agent, will I be able to purchase Photopass+?

Here is the link for the PP+ preorder http://www.disneyphotopass.com/wdwphotopassplus.aspx

It doesn't matter how you book your trip, the PP+ is separate and you have to pay for it yourself (and upfront if you choose to preorder). If you plan on getting the PP+, preorder it as this saves you a few dollars. PLEASE NOTE, that you need to order it at least 14 days before your trip because it is mailed out to you. If your trip is closer than that you will have to wait and purchase it at the parks photo centers for regular price.

Question...well, sort of. ;)

For those of you that do Photopass+ or at least normally buy the CD, how many pictures on avg are you taking with Photopass photogs? I know this # goes up when you add in meal pics and ride pics, but on avg...how many Photopass pics are you winding up with in the end vs. pics you've taken on your personal camera? And even deeper- out of the pics you've gotten on those CDs...how many would you have skipped buying if you were just buying individual pics?

I'm just going through the dilemma I have before every more recent trip...i.e. is it worth it for us??? On our girls' first trip we took around 37 Photopass pics, but had a little over 1,300 personal pics. Out of the 37 Photopass pics from that trip, only 1 was something I'd purchase...but I wound up getting 3 since I had a buy 2 get 1 free deal- and I do like a deal :D . On our girls' second trip... we took around 16 or 17 Photopass pics and close to 2,000 personal pics. Not a single Photopass pic was worth buying. We also pretty much never buy the meal pics. In fact, even when they're included with the meal- I've preferred mine. This trip DH and I have upgraded our phones(i.e. more camera pics) + I anticipate taking at least another 2,000 pics on my DSLR...so I'm finding it really tough to justify doing Photopass+ or even the regular Photopass CD.

Any thoughts?

We easily stop at 10-20 different photographers each day. Figure 3-5 photos per stop. 3 day DLR trip last month, ended up with 250 or so photos, before edits. A normal 7 day WDW trip ends up with 500-600 photos before edits. As much as I like taking pictures with my own DSLR, the only shots of my DW and I are the ones that photopass does. I'm just a smidge leary about handing 3k+ worth of body/glass over to a total stranger and asking them to take my picture.

Each trip we do end up with a few great shots. Most of the others are ok, and there are usually a few duds. I wouldn't justify buying just a single image as I load up my digital frame, and then we end up printing a bunch for scrapbooks.

So if I order a cd I can take it to Walmart and get the photos printed? I would assume that's cheaper than buying all of them from the photopass site.

Yup. You may need to show the release form that is included on the CD, that all depends on the person running the machine. Most don't care, but some do and won't sell you the prints til they can see a release.

I'm just looking for clarification for PhotoPass+...for photos taken at meals, you automatically get the hard copy as well as the digital copy but not so on rides? You only get the digital copy?

It's just two of us going but since this trip is in celebration of my DS' graduation, I'd also like to be in the photos so I'll probably be pre-ordering this weekend. Being in the photos with my son is worth the price alone to me.

Thanks in advance.

I pre purchased the photopass + for our trip so I'm glad that you think it is a great value. I've already started writing down pictures I want to make sure and get and where the photographers are suppose to be. I think you are right having the resturant and ride pictures is great that is what sold it for me. Although it didn't take much we usually always do the photopass pre trip package...this time we just get more.

Great!! You will love it! I mentioned this before and I have no facts to back this up but I feel like the photographers go above and beyond a bit more when they see photopass+ card around your neck. :) We got some crazy good and fun extra photos! And don't forget all the Magic Shots!!!

At meals, they preprint the pictures, and then walk around and try to sell them to the tables. Since they already have the picture preprinted, they will simply hand it to you when you should them the PP+ card. On the edge of the print should be a Photopass number that you can use to add the digital versions to your account. At the rides they don't print them until after they have been purchased, so they will simply scan your PP+ and add it to the card. So yes, you only get the digital copy of the ride photos.

Correct. You get the photos AND have them added to your acct. At O'Hana we had to go to the photopass counter and have them added at the end of our meal. And at Tusker, they added them for us before they gave us our pictures. But either way, they were added to the acct. You only get the digital copy of the rides - they don't print them for you.

You can wait until you get home FYI. I didnt add any of them while in WDW...i added them as their own PP cards and they all popped up. One big plus was we got hard copies and ALL the digital ones they had taken ( at CRT we had 5 images).

I was skeptical before our trip, but am SO glad we bought the PP+. Instead of pictures where either myself or my husband are missing - depending on who's holding the camera - we have over 200 pictures of the whole family. I am a bit sad that no one took the pixie wings shot for us...:(

Our experience with the photographers varied greatly from exceptional to a few who seemed bored and cranky. If you get the PP+ be sure to ask every photographer if they can do any "Magic Shots". An extremely helpful young man explained to us that every non-tripod photographer should be able to do the special shots, but not all will depending on time and/or how comfortable they are with their ability to do them. Also some shots are area specific: we missed one that is only done at Tiana's gazebo.

If you attend any of the special events the Plus is a must. We got the most amazing shots at the Halloween party. Even my husband has declared the card paid for itself in just a few days!

This is definitely a must get for me. I had already planned on it but your reviews were quite helpful, and, the pre-order price really clinches it. It's important to me to have this trip in photos so the price is well worth it in my book. I'll make DS crazy with trying to get Magic Shots, but since I'm the Mom and paying for the trip, he'll have to suck it up :) Thanks everyone!

Yes you can, however, if you can, try and do it there. I made sure to do it there b.c I wanted to make that they could add the photos and the correct photos were there. For example, on our last morning there, our photos at DHS were not on the card and the next day I went into the photopass center and they found the pics and added them. Its just harder to do over the phone.

yeah..for me sometimes waiting in the line to add or such is a pain with the kids in tow..so I find it easier to add once home. We are gone for so long that I do not log into my PP account until I am home..

If you create and log into your PhotoPass account while you're at the parks, that begins your 30 days to edit photos, etc. correct?

If you claim the pictures, by adding the number to your account, yes it starts the 30 days counter for editing. Doing so or not is really up to you. As my editing ends up taking me the full 30 days, I would never waste several editing days by claiming them early. I'd rather stop multiple times at picture locations while in the parks. That helps to cover any possible lost pictures, as well as greatly increasing the chances of getting a different picture or pose. Since the initial moment already happened, you can't recreate that one, so make a new one.

Thanks for the clarification. I'm on vacation until after the new year when we get back so I should have plenty of time for editing, etc. (I hope ;) ). I'll just make sure they are all loaded while we're at the World by checking at the kiosk as you suggest.

I use the same acct so its not from when you log in, but you have 30 days from the first day of pics...so we started taking pics on September 13th...and we were there for 10 days ... and I had until October 13th before they started to delete. So that means that for everything to go on my disk (disks in my case), I had to make sure everything was edited and added before Oct 13th to make sure I got them all.
