my sister is like that. when i talk about disney world she just kind of looks at me and nods slowly. then she says ''I'd rather go to six flags" she's never been to Disney and me and my boyfriend keep telling her it's more than she thinks. She thinks it's just for kids....boy, is she wrong...because everyone turns into a kid again when they step foot on Disney property!

Turning 5 again in 13 days!!!!

Hey there!! The problem is that your sister wont turn 5 again when she sets foot on the property. She doesnt believe in pixie dust or dreams come true or happily ever after where Disney is concerned so she wont get it!!! We can have hope that she will rediscover her inner child though, but if she doesnt, dont ever let it ruin the Magic for you who believe!!! Belle

If a Doctor could prescribe a pill for you that would make you smile and make you and your family feel wonderful, safe, happy, and make you forget about all your problems would you ever get tired of getting your prescription refilled?

BTW...My Prescription is being refilled in May :animwink:

Perfect!!! I feel just the same way!!!

As for negative behavior... well, I have such experiences almost every day at home and at work. Being a Disney freak in Brazil is not easy at all, many people here don't even know what WDW is about, some think it's just the "amusement park with the castle", few of them know that "there is a huge ball", but don't know if there is anything inside. Many people DO go to WDW, but it's just one trip, usually when they are teenagers. Very few families try to go more than once, or love Disney like I do. I used to get sad, to feel lonely... But now I don't even try to convince them anymore. I decided to shut up, and talk to you guys here (thanks for everything guys!!!! Love you all!!). My husband doesn't even know that I am already saving money for my next trip, whenever that is. I am still trying to move up there, to make things easier (money is my worst issue at the moment, as I don't mind going to WDW by myself anymore, I had the best time of my life in December).

Don't get angry, dixie. Such people don't deserve it. If they laugh at you, pity them. If they keep talking, turn your CD player on, Splash Mountain music. Or come to wdwmagic!!! It's always great to know you're not alone, and that there are people that share the same magic feeling!

IMO. If I had the money to go to Disney 2wice in one year. I would go once and then go somewhere else for my next vacation. I couldn't see going twice in one year. I agree it's kinda a waste of time and money. Maybe a trip to Disney once and a trip to Universal the next. or somewhere other then Fla.

Just my oppion. I have nothing aginst Disney.

I wonder what you would think of me!! I did six seperate trips to Disney in 2004 alone for a total of 24 days!!!! Some were weekend trips etc but I can assure you I do have the money to choose where I want to go and no place calls to me just like Disney does!! Belle

I agree with you, Marie! If I had the money, I would go up there every month!!! I went to Europe once, it was a great trip (London is just fabulous!!!), but I missed Disney so much that I ended up taking a train to Disneyland Paris. Oh, how I would like to be able to take weekend trips to WDW....

I'm envious of all of you! I've only been twice- once with kids and once before kids, but still as an adult myself. It is definately my and my husband's favorite vacation spot. We definately know the magic. In fact, I recently discovered that my husband doesn't really care to travel (and we live in the midwest), but he would go to WDW every year if we could afford it. When we took our kids they were 2 & 4, and we NEVER imagined we would take them so young- you know- thought it would be a waste of money, they would never remember it. Well it was right after 9-11 and the airfare and hotel rates were cheap, so we couldn't say no and have never regretted it. Our kids literally talked about the trip afterwards EVERY day for a year. My daughter (now 5) still plays "going to Disney" for make believe frequently. We are planning our 3rd trip back for this November.

Why not try something new and different. I think it would get borring to go so much. Heck when we lived in Orlando and dad still worked there. we went 3-4 times a year and it was too much. Got borring. I mena don't get me wrong. I enjoyed the parks and all. but if I had had to pay for it. I would have rather done something new.

My wife & I are both Disney nuts. My wife turns 50 in May and we're planning on going for 6 days to celebrate her birthday and we'll the 50th Celebration. We're not taking the kids and trying to get her twin sister to go with us. We go at least once a year for the last 5 years (some times twice). Some with the kids and some without. We have a ball and even though our kids are now in college, it's easier to go without them. I enjoy just walking around and watching others. We have a blast. I get ask on a regular basis when I'm going down again. I have a Mickey bobble-head in my window at work & Disney key rings.

Tell them not to knock it if they haven't tryed it. Then enjoy the MAGIC..

i think i'd go once to disney and once to the beach...or a disney cruise! because i have a place in my heart for that white sand and crystal blue water, just like for the mouse...but i don't blame people at all for wanting to go back to Disney many times....rock on! if i had the money i would too! :) i just really love the beach also, and it doesn't cost as much as Disney, so i'd like to go there once a year, and to the beach once or twice.

I have actually!! I have gone to the Islands and it just didnt rock me the way Disney does. After 2-3 days I was bored!! A friend of mine who has traveled extensively around the world still really digs Disney for her vacations!!! It really is just a question of what matters to you and what makes you happy. Belle

We hear that all the time--to try something new. And we are, hopefully this summer we are going to Schlitterbahn, in New Braunsfel, Texas. But I know that WDW will be calling us back......
I get criticized often about my love for WDW, but now I've learned where I can go and talk about it, and I know who shares my love for it and everyone else can KISS IT.

I've gotten to a place where I don't even bother discussing it. For whatever reason discussing a love of Disney is as controversial as bringing up politics or religion...maybe worse.

So if someone has a question on Disney, is not familiar with something, or is considering a visit, I'll be happy to talk, but for those "mature" and "worldly" folks who have "outgrown" Disney, fine for them, I'm just glad I've "never grown up" if that's what enjoying Disney is.

I have a little harder a time dealing with those "Disney is stupid" folks when they visit the parks, but that has been discussed on other threads, and to paraphrase The Mom, just ignore the ignorant...you will always loose an argument with them as they have been at it much longer...

I have friends AND co-workers who are Disney nay-sayers. I've gotten to the point where I don't even tell them when I going down anymore. Funny thing is, I'm the FIRST person they come to when their kids have finally broken them down and they decide to take a trip to WDW.

Long live WDW!!

tell me about it!

I can't tell you how many people ask (or harrass) me about why I am going back to WDW.. I just have to tell them it is my favorite place in the world. It does get tiresome trying to explain this to everyone that ask me this question.

I think I am going to make little note cards as to why my family is heading to WDW for a trip again, so I can give them to everyone that asks.

Is it b/c I am escaping reality for a little while?
Is it b/c I can become a child again?
Is it b/c my children a smiling the entire vacation?
Is it b/c we can basically do everything there together?
Is it b/c WDW is the epitomy of a family vacation?
Is it b/c of the feeling I get when I start to walk down Main Street USA?

I could go on forever with reasons why I choose WDW over the beach, skiiing or cruise (however, we may be doing the land & sea trip next year).

Little over 1,000 days until we will be @ WDW. I haven't started the countdown yet, b/c it is too depressing. (We are waiting this long, b/c my wife is due w/our 3rd child in May. I want my son to be 6, daughter to be 4 and new born to be 2.

We first went to Disney World 5 years ago. Neither my husband nor I had ever been there before, and we told ourselves that we were doing it for the kids. We never expected to love it as much as we did. We will continue to go as often as we can afford to, and when the kids are grown the two of us will go by ourselves! I can't think of a better family vacation spot anywhere.

In my cube, I have pictures, posters, etc (and I'm a male) all over. I even have a set of Mickey ears on top of my monitor.

One guy in HR who does the whole day orientation with new employees will mention me if during a break or something the "get to know you" conversation turns to Disney. ["There's a guy that works in the OPS building who is a Disney phanatic. He helped me plan my last trip.]

So, I'm slowly getting to be known as "the Disney guy" here at work. :king:

I don't know. I guess you can't "make" poeple enjoy WDW. Especially with the way some parents are with their kids "We spent alot of money to come here, so you are going to have a good time."

The same thing happens to me at work!! And I was known at college as "the Disney girl" !!!

Well, I went to WDW twice last year and I hit DL about every three or four months. It's gotten to the point when I say I'm taking a few days off, my boss says, "Are you going to be visiting your pink (Piglet) and gray (Eeyore) friends?" I had a photo taken with them and sent them to her.

The best part is that when I dragged the boyfriend last December he wound up liking it. He was amazed at how much WDW has been built up and he really loved staying at AKL. We even discussed our next visit and he's going to pick our resort!! I knew he'd have fun once he gave it a chance.
