Parking Fee for On-Property Guests

Hi everyone!

I have a quick question. I think I have seen this question and the answer before, but I am less than impressed with my travel agent, so I am just hoping to get some "up to the minute" information here...

The Situation: My family and I are staying at the Pop Century Resort for 9 days in July. We plan on renting a car, as we are going to venture off property (grocery store, character warehouse, outlet shopping, etc). We also figured we might use the car to go to the parks, as I know I have read other guests saying that very often that is a faster means of transportation.

The Question: Will we be charged to park at the parks, seeing as we are staying "on-property"? I know in the past I have been able to park for free in the same situation. My travel agent says we are going to be charged "like, $9.00 a day" to park at the parks, and that this policy is new in the last couple of years.

Can anyone who has recently been to WDW answer this question for me?

Thanks in advance for the great advice I know I am going to get!

You do not have to pay for parking at the theme parks if you stay on property. At check-in you will be given a parking pass to put on the dashboard so parking attendants can wave you through.

Hope that helps :)

Your travel agent is incorrect. Disney resort guests park for free. As stated before you will be given a parking pass to place on your dash when you check in.

When you check in they will ask you (your you can tell them) that you have a car and they will give you a resort parking pass. This pass is a white pice of paper that has your resort name on it and the dates you are staying there.

Keep that pass on your dash and you can park free at any of the Disney World theme parks. Another benefit for staying on property.

Your travel agent is wrong. Correct her so that she doesn't keep passing on this incorrect information.

DEFINITELY correct her! That is quite irresponsible of her to give out wrong information. It sounds like she just didn't know and made up an answer.

To the OP: Next time, try Kingdom Konsultants. I've never used them, but I have never read a bad review. They seem to be "on the ball" when it comes to information.

Just want to add that if you choose to valet park you will only pay for that service one a day too. They will give you a ticket to keep on the dash with your resort parking pass.

The only place on property that I am aware of where you would have to pay is if you visit the Swan or Dolphin (i.e. for dinner). Otherwise, your resort guest pass gets you free parking everywhere, including other resorts.

No you don't have to pay to park if you are a resort guest. If you wish to drive to the parks it is usually quicker than the bus, except for MK. The bus will drop you near the gate soyou don't have to cross the lake when you park at the TTC. Good luck and have fun.

I stayed at Pop Century last weekend and when I checked in they gave me a parking pass to put on the dashboard of my car. This time, though, my name was printed on the pass. That was different. I checked in the parking lot and all the other parking passes had names printed on them too. This must be fairly recent because I stayed at The Caribbean the first weekend in March and my parking pass didn't have my name on it.

Hey BM, Welcome to the boards!!!! Well as always the great people on this site have come through with the best information out there. All are correct. As a Disney resort guest you will not be charged to park at any of the parks or at your resort ( Swan and Dolphin do charge however) The bus situation at Pop is handled very well and I wouldnt hesitate to use that at least for MK as the bus goes directly to the park. If you choose to take your car, you will be parked at the TTC and have to take a ferry or the monorail over to the MK. Have a great time on your trip. Belle

Why not use the buses :)

Why not read the original poster's original post? :)

to wit,

"The Situation: My family and I are staying at the Pop Century Resort for 9 days in July. As everyone has let you know, parking is free for anyone staying at a WDW resort.
Dont forget you also may have a day or two of extra magic hours.

When you check-in they will give you a white parking ticket. Put it on your dash while you are at you hotel and when you go to the parks, this is your FREE ticket to parking in the parks!

Let me guess....you're not using a TA that's not a Disney specialist?

Actually we are using AAA. My sister made our reservations through them, and they have been a nightmare. The AAA travel agent actually argued with me about renting a car, telling me that I was on the dining plan, so I had no need to leave the resort. I LOVE DISNEY, but c'mon, there are things in the Orlando area besides Disney.

Thanks to everyone for verifying what I was already pretty sure of!

Next time, go with a Disney-specific travel agent like Mouseketrips, Kingdom Konsultants, Your Magical Journeys, Small World Travel, etc. I've had luck with both Mouseketrips and Kingdom Konsultants (they are a sponsor on this board and made our reservation at AKL for next month).
