News Paradise Pier Becoming Pixar Pier

I understand this, but Pixar lands are clearly a mandate at all Disney resorts, therefore it was inevitable that one would eventually end up at DLR. Considering all this I think a reworking of Paradise Pier around Pixar is much better solution than devoting acres of land in Anaheim for another Pixar Playland. This is one of those instances where not having endless acres for expansion works out to DL's benefit.

I never really thought it was invetiable at DLR unless they built a third park. Especially considering we have Buzz/ Nemo at DL and then Monsters, Bugs and Cars Land at DCA. I think it's once again a Marvel dominoe effect. Bugs Land going away for Marvel. Reworked backlot which probably means some Marvel which means Monsters are out. So Pixar Pier was the remedy. I personally hate what Marvel has single handedly done to DCA. I won't even get into TOT again. To clarify I don't care about Monsters Inc or Bugs land going away but I hate the thought of Pixar Pier and for a guy who likes variety, a "20" acre Marvel Land I feel is overkill. I would have liked to see a couple others IPs get some love and/ or a San Francisco themed original ride.

At least with Soarin they can switch it back to the California version at any time.

Me if they ever made such an announcement for DL's Tomorrowland:

So....just making sure I got this straight: WDW's getting Tron, Ratatouille, a new indoor coaster, a new skyway and a MICKEY MOUSE DARK RIDE.
And DLR is getting...signage.

You left out two new hotels, a Guardians of The Galaxy attraction, and WDW's own on-demand taxi service. All of this on top of the recently opened World of Avatar and the forthcoming SW: Galaxy's Edge and Pixar land.

Goodbye Disneyland. This mouseketeer is going to Disney World! :D

I only say this because once the Pixar thing opens in Florida DLR will be the only Disney Resort without a dedicated realm bearing the Pixar brand name. It was pretty clear to see what their business strategy was before the announcement, at least to me. No question now after yesterday's announcement.

Remember it's a very short project. I don't think they're touching the entire land, just the pier section around Midway Mania. A lot of money was put into the Paradise Park area. There's no reason to touch Silly Symphony Swings or the massive Paradise Grill. Those could be woven into "Paradise Park," or whatever they call that area that is home to the Little Mermaid and World of Color. Maybe in the future that no-man's-area will get a classic Disney animation theme and we'll see Goofy's Sky School (or even better, the awkward Little Mermaid ride) replaced with Mickey and the Runaway Rail Road.

My prediction:

Screamin', Fun Wheel, and Carousel get rethemed. If we're lucky, we'll get a new flat ride replacing the old Maliboomer plot as well.

I'm not sure if they'll touch the Cove Bar but if they do there should be no functional changes as it's already hugely popular. I'd love for them to get rid of the textures in that structure that don't jive with the victorian details (awnings, teal, metallic accents) but it would be at the expense of a thematic downgrade.

You could be right but I would imagine retheming JJ, GSS, And Silly Symphony can be done relatively quickly and that it's the most likely scenario being the land will be called Pixar Pier I have a hard time believing Goofy and silly symphony don't get overlayed. The Paradise park / grill area will probably stay the same. Not sure about Cove bar and Ariels dining.

We do have a Pixar land though. Cars land, one of the most universally praised lands in the world. It's crazy because single IP lands aren't even enough now. Now we re getting aquisition lands. It's like what ties any of the Pixar stories or characters/ stories together aside from the fact they are all Pixar? What ties them to a land themed as a Pier? At least with Star Wars they found a creative way to pull it off. Same can't be said for Pixar Pier or Marvel Land ( it's looking that way at least).

"Acquisition lands."

Man, that really sums all of this up. And I really dislike it.

I'm 1000% fine with them getting rid of most of this area of DCA. That goes for the gigantic restaurant with no indoor seating, Six Flags rides and everything around it. Just not as a re-skin, which is what they did before. I don't understand why California Screaming has this really charming little beach themed area and the rest of the land looks like crap. Did they spend all the budget on the sand?

Yep.

This is exactly what I meant when I said SWL, now Galaxy's Edge (really?), would be just the beginning and would open up doors to ultimately more bad decisions. People told me I was exaggerating, but look what we have here. Guardians/Marvel in DCA and now Pixar Pier (terrible).

The buffoonery is far from over.

Yeah I don't like it at all. At least with Star Wars Land they found a creative way around it (placement aside). But Pixar Pier?

Oh ya I hate the name Galaxies Edge too. Who the heck is coming up these names!?!
