News Paradise Pier Becoming Pixar Pier

Sorry but I’m not letting him get away with the BAM! explanation. Not for him and a company that constantly remind us of how important story/ immersion are. GOTG and Pixar Pier are the antithesis of these principles.

The only things that bother me about Mission Breakout are the untouched FastPass distribution center which is still TOT themed, and they never added the perimeter line thing or whatever that "explains" how the collectors fortress just plopped out of nowhere.

The only thing that bothers me about it is... everything... except the ride system.

But ya I wouldn’t hold my breath for that. They ve realized for the most part that they can get away with the least effort possible.

Hi Everyone. I ate at Lamplight Lounge recently, so here is my long-awaited review.

I sat at a table with a view of the Incredicoaster. So every single second I heard “Head Back, Face Foward, and Hold On...”

I had a fastpass for Incredicoaster, and the waitress I had was actually very nice and gave us our food fairly quickly.

The only main complaint I have is that it just seemed like the Cove Bar with Pixar decorations.

Also, during my fastpass, the ride broke down. I had to leave the fastpass line.

I was thinking the ride would be back up in maybe an hour, but the ride was closed for a good 4 hours.

I used the fastpass on something else.

Sounds like a big success. Was this the whole review? How was the food?

Remember when they were going to call Bing Bings a Confectionery but then decided we were all too stupid and wouldn’t understand what that meant? Kind of explains everything. Good thing Fantasyland opened in the 50s. Today it would be called Walt Disney Animated Film Land.

You ever stop and think... maybe, just maybe, there are other less-nefarious reasons for changes to theme park plans?

I think, as with any restaurant, when you choose to sit on the patio you are trading away the more unique inside ambiance for the nice outdside view. The inside has a lot more going on with it -- the view on the patio is nice, but it's still just a patio. Restaurants here in LA are the same way. Even though we have amazing weather (except for right now!), I often will ask to sit inside because you miss out on whatever really makes the restaurant interesting beyond the food itself. You are right though -- the portion that used to actually be the Cove bar is relatively unchanged. It's Ariel's that far and away received the bigger facelift.

So are you saying that because they have a store with the name “confectionery” In it at DTD that it would be redundant or repetitive to call Bing Bongs that? Or are you saying using it as proof that they don’t think we re stupid because they have used the name “confectionery” on property? If it’s the former I would say it’s no different than using the word “cafe” in multiple places on property. If it’s the latter, I’d say that it appears that Marcelines has been open at least 10 years. A lot changes in 10 years. My examples of Disney dumbing down are Pixar Pier/ GOTG and both are very recent changes under new leadership (Chapek). Not to mention “Bing Bongs Sweet Stuff” isn’t even phonetically pleasing nor clever. I would put my money on them changing the name because someone thought “sweet stuff” sounds more fitting with the silly (dumbed down) Pixar Pier.

I agree for the most part but I’ve definitely been to a few restaurants where the more unique ambiance is outside. Just a couple off the top of my head... Villa in Woodland Hills (now closed), The Tropicale in Palm Springs and Pump In West Hollywood. Although I guess a lot of this is subjective in regards to what someone finds as nice ambiance.

BTW. Was it you who told me to go to Jalama beach to try their world famous burgers? I took a spontaneous SB/ Solvang trip recently and must say that the long drive through the middle of nowhere was worth it. Not sure if the pics do any justice but...

I just don't think they think their consumers are so dumb that they don't know what a confectionary is... Unless perhaps they think there's a language issue with non-English speaking guests, which I suppose is entirely possible.

Oh sure, there are some pretty amazing patios out here too that are better than the inside. AOC is one of my faves, if you haven't been it's a killer restaurant with the best patio around. And no, that was not my recommendation! I may have suggested Solvang in general though, it's definitely a fun little stop if you like weird theme park-like cities haha

Enjoying those burger photos; they really take me back. Truly a reward for those who brave the road to Jalama. The first time I took that drive was at night, so lots of fun as you can imagine!
