That's it? Seriously? The singing penguin at the end was cute, but... that's it?

You just convinced me to go ahead with my tentative plans to visit Bryce Canyon and the Utah National Parks this October instead of Orlando.

I think it'll be a terrific set of supporting attractions once Star Wars opens. It's no reason to go to Orlando right now. I was just at Bryce last week - enjoy!

Because some people are extremely tilted to the point that they take pleasure in seeing one project, one resort, one company, etc. be superior to another. There is nothing wrong with having a favorite park but everything wrong with wanting other parks to become or remain inferior. Real theme park fans hope for the highest quality anywhere and everywhere. Real theme parks fans celebrate projects that raise the bar and laud projects that lower the bar regardless of what park they are a part of.

Yep. I may have said this in this thread, but I’ll say it again, some WDW fans mosey on over here just to defend WDW or try and make WDW look better. I don’t get that. I’m actually convinced a few folks who come here have never stepped foot in California, let alone the DLR.

Definitely agree with your last sentence. Something else I said a long time ago is neither the DLR or WDW deserve Pixar Pier and Toy Story Land. They’re both reflections of the poor quality that Disney has been putting out recently. Both deserve much better.

I have no interest in visiting WDW anytime soon. I will feel the same about the DLR once my pass expires next year. I will be focusing on my Italy trip I’m trying to make happen next summer.

Bryce is amazing...I've actually visited every National park west of the Mississippi (ex Yosemite) and it is a stunning park. Part of the reason we didn't renew our AP is that we were all in on Disney for too long (4 trips to WDW, probably 300 DL visits, 1 Disney Cruise) that we realized we were losing sight of so many of the other great things out there.

The lack of a consistent scale in Toy Story Land is what makes it so awful.

My favorite part is the "you're the size of a green army man" BS that they tried to sell after people realized how dumb it was to have giant static figures throughout the land. The entire appeal of a Toy Story area would be to feel like you're part of Woody and Buzz' gang. How do they drop the ball on that so hard?

Does anyone remember the Toy Story Funhouse in the 90s? I got to experience it after watching the movie at El Capitan Theater and again when it moved to Tomorrowland. There wasn't that much to it, but I think it did a way better job of putting you in the world of toys than the new Toy Story Land does...

Welp, I've made a decision. I'm still going to lurk through this thread from time to time, but I really don't feel like adding anything more to the conversation, because at this point, what else is there to say?

I'll just leave you with my concise, GIF-based thoughts on this project (now, and when its finally done next year).

Enjoy!

The funny part is the scale is so off we re not even Green Army Men. We’re more like Green Army Men of the Green Army Men

The best set of supporting attractions for once star wars galaxy's edge opens is at Disneyland. The park is already a 2 day park to begin with.

I think TSL needed one good dark ride. Is TSMM really the best they can do for the Toy Story franchise? Take me on an adventure where I really feel like I’m a toy. So much source material. Maybe a finale where we escape from Sids room.

Yes
Gatgets Go Coaster sits on, what, half an acre? This ride sprawls across most of the 11 acres that comprise toy story land.

The thrill level is mostly the same though. They’re also both cute, colorful and short. The problem is that Slinky should be more than that.

I think part of the disappointment with Toy Story Land and every other Toy Story ride is that they don’t really explore the danger of being a toy. Being lost, seperated, abandoned, tortured by next door neighbors, etc. Those elements were a huge part of the series but Disney is trying to convince us that being a toy is all fun and games. Did they watch their own movies?

Yup. Seems like they re doing this with all of the IP now. Nothing can be scary/ weird anymore. Look at Mermaid aside from Ursula’s lair. None of the adventure is there. Look at Frozen Ever After where they didn’t even include the wolves. They turned TOT into one big joke. Everything has to be cute or funny now and or ultra/PC. See POTC.
