Well...THAT was fast...

People (who care about Pixar Pier in the first place) were smart enough to realize that this was a far better deal than that $300 joke. Even with it being a few days later and even if you had to purchase a Gold membership on top of it, it still ends up being a way better value than what is being offered in that stupid preview.

That GIF was pretty much me when the Incredibles started selling Chryslers. :D

but that's really nothing new, Disney and every other studios has always used co-sponsors that integrate their movie characters with product.
There's a line of obnoxiousness and brand-cheapening that, ideally, a studio won't cross. Both Disney and Universal crossed it for me with their recent car ads for I2 and JW2. It's not Fred Flintstone selling cigs, but it's still obnoxious. Thank goodness we haven't seen any of the Cars characters selling themselves. Yet.

FYI — when you see stuff like that Chrysler tie-in, you should know that Chrysler is paying Disney a LOT for the rights to use Edna + whatever creative costs were needed to animate/cut the spot. Disney doesn’t pay a single cent for that kind of thing.
Yes, and it certainly makes me feel better that Disney took money to cheapen their IPs rather than the other way around. I certainly wouldn't want Disney to go bankrupt or anything. :D

The best value though is still just not paying any additional fees and going on your regular trip...or just not going at all!

This literally happens with every big movie (and TV show) -- you just don't notice it because you're not paying attention to those. All the studios have dedicated agencies specifically tasked with going out and cutting licensing deals with brands for a variety of different uses -- and those brands fork over a lot of $$$ every year to do it. And in many cases, it's actually the brand approaching the studio to ask for the rights unsolicited just because they feel the property is a good fit for the brand. (And quite often, the studio/creative team disagrees and says no!)

As I said before, it's all about crossing a line of obnoxiousness. Disney crossed it. They've done more appropriate and less smug, grotsque tie-ins in the past. :D

Wait wasn't there a TV show about this, Mad something or other, showing the rise of brand ads starting in the 60s..... ;)

Agreed... But others obviously feel differently. And again, point being, if you compare both packages it's painfully obvious how out of touch and ridiculous that $300 offering is.
Well, yeah...ultimately it just shows how important it is for someone to be the "first" to experience something. Is it really worth paying almost $150 more for? I guess for some, it is.

If it was like a month, maybe weeks, ahead of opening and was like a hard hat walk thru with an early ride on Incredicoaster then mayyyybe I could understand it. But 24 hours and with, no doubt, a ton of other people? I just can't understand it at all.

It strikes me now acutally that this event is likely catered to vloggers who turn to their Patreon money for stuff like this just so they can report back to their fanbase "first"...and then seek more Patreons to keep their channels afloat.
