News Paradise Pier Becoming Pixar Pier

Saw this on reddit

The pergola shown in the Pixar Pier scale model was much nicer. The character cutout design is nice, but it appears that the budget was cut on most of the structural details including the finished roof. I hope they don't end up scaling back the archway too.

The character lattice work is actually very nice, and I love what they've done with the buildings beside it...

I saw it yesterday and it does look very nice. I wish they had built a permant roof instead of the awning though. Also wish they had extended it towards the ice cream area.

The new knick knacks shop also looks better inside in person than it does in pictures. i was pleasantly surprised.

The rest of the Pier is starting to take shape and actually looks quite nice. The new colro scheme of the buildings really bring out the details.

I really wish though that they had painted the coaster and added themed arches or some of the areas that cross over the walkways. all those tubes and going through the coaster get filthy and some have rust on them

I don’t see a difference.

The biggest difference is that in the model it has a finished roof instead of tented fabric, giving it a more finished look. Also note the difference in the tops of the supports. Not sure if the bases will be executed as shown in the model, but the tops of them are definitely not as nice.

Any recent picture update for the changes of the Pier?

was there on Monday and the advance in construction from videos i saw shot on friday to what i saw on Monday was quite different.

The Incredicoaster queue had its roofing installed and painted, the queue had its saucers mostly up and the incrediarch was already being wrapped with steel.

The bandstand had all its metal supports up and ready to start applying the shell and bing bongs facade also looked like ti was all framed.

Pal around had most of its baskets installed as well and the fountain ball had already concrete poured.

It would be interesting to see what else they have accomplished during the week, the time for them to open this thing is getting closer.

Those look great, I like that they finally gave that structure some height to block some views.
Hoping that future enhancements continue to block some more of those ugly views.
There is still the problem of seeing the convention center in the eastern part of the land.

At least the googie convention center matches the mid century Incredicoaster queue now!

While I'm not overly excited about Pixar Pier I do love the fact that the area is getting a nice (and pretty) refurb. I had no idea there were going to be more lights on the coaster for example but I think they will look amazing at night and have a part to play in WOC when it comes back.

The new eating place looks incredible as well (no pun intended...honest). The Mermaid restaurant was nice but I like the new one because it looks like they will have a great view of the pier. It just seem like a nicer place to have a beer than the Cove bar.

I actually really love the Pixar Promenade so far.

TBH while Pixar Pier thematically doesn’t make sense, at least they are improving PARTS of the pier...

Still think they should just bolddoze everything except California Screamin’, hid most of the supports with fake rocks and repaint the rest brown. Then add a dark ride section to the beginning and ride scenes throughout and make it a coaster version of Tokyo’s Journey to the Center of the Earth. Then add a Tokyo Disney Sea Mysterious Island around the bay. That would be so cool and enough reason for people to go to DCA. But alas that won’t happen with current management.

I worry about the comment to that Twitter feed that said that it looked great. However I do think it could be fairly easy to remove Pixar if the will was great enough.

This is a cool idea. I would just say if they were to go through that much trouble might as well tear down Screamin too and put a proper E ticket there.
