sign looks great, hopefully it all wrapped up in the next week! Im gonna be going to DL/DCA next month and I look forward to it as well as Tianas Palace (hopefully will be open) and Treehouse (hopefully open as well)

I like that DL/DCA has been constantly evolving for the last 5-6 years. Star Wars Land opens like 4 years ago, Then AC phase 1 2 years ago, then MMRR with an amazing refreshed ToonTown last year, and now the Treehouse, splash mountain, French Market, and pacific wharf are all getting rethemes. Also all the new downtown disney expansion/hotel work going on. California seems pretty dialed in, cant wait to see what the next big announcement is. Phase 2 of AC, or the Disneyland forward, or the eastern gateway...?

There’s a lot of nuance and gray area when it comes to imagineering and the psychology of what makes things click or “just work” for guests. We all have to suspend disbelief to certain degrees but something about all the Japanese writing (and other decorations) in San Fransokyo will always be a reminder that this was a space that was slightly rethemed to Big Hero 6 and in that way it’ll always feel more artificial to me than the original Pacific Wharf. Instead of walking into Pacific Wharf and SUBCONSCIOUSLY feeling like I’m somewhere that feels like a wharf I’ll be CONSCIOUSLY thinking I’m in a space that Disney forced to look like San Fransokyo from Big Hero 6. With poor to mediocre results at that. Maybe that fades after some time and enough visits? Perhaps but all of these overlays seem to feel less authentic and not more.

Something I thought about after seeing this.

For the past maybe 5 or so years Disney has really been prioritizing new lands over new rides. How many people are going to come to this area having seen advertisements expecting a Big Hero 6 ride to be included? In hindsight I feel like it would’ve just been better for a Big Hero 6 attraction to take up that whole plot.

I will never cease marveling how an entire generation of Americans replaced all of their known adjectives with the single world "amazing".

This man is amazed at a basic metal sign being delivered via standard truck and trailer.

Let that sink in that his standards for experiencing human emotion, much less actual amazement, are now that low. 🤣
What makes it better is that he replies to himself with this:

Not to mention the complete lack of the words "Disney California Adventure" in that ad. Their marketing is very, very messy.
