They must have the numbers to back it up but I really do wonder how they expect to recoup the cost via a few menu changes and a merch kiosk.

The meet area will cost them, not earn anything (except maybe some plushie Baymax sales, I guess).
I'm not familiar with big hero 6 but a lot of people are and love baymax so I bet it makes some financial sense to do this. Merch and food sales will be quite a lot I imagine.

I suppose they could fabricate or package data in a way to get whatever they want approved. Doesn’t mean it’s good data.

Light menu changes aren't going to move the needle much. (Though presumably they will come with the accompanying rise in prices and lowering in quantity/quality of food. #thankschristine)

And while Baymax is a semi-popular character, I just don't see sales of his merch being a longterm winner. He's not Stitch. They'd've been better off theming to a Hawaiian wharf, doing a Polynesian overlay, and pushing a Stitch meet & merch. THAT would sell. But of course, it's not thematically appropriate for Disney CALIFORNIA Adventure. Ah well.

What a waste of time and money. Lol

No, wait. There's still red patio lanterns from Cost Plus they haven't put up yet.

Wait for the patio lanterns before you judge. I was told there would be patio lanterns.

I just can’t wait until they make this area their center for celebrating Chinese New Year in the parks.

Because, you know — Chinese, Japanese, same difference.

No kidding.

But something tells me there's enough Americans of Japanese descent working in TDA to say "Uh, guys?..."

Lunar.
New.
Year.

Not.
Celebrated.
In.
Japan.

Here's why this bridge in reality looks even hokier than the already hokey looking concept art.

They removed one of the arches from the design in a budget cut. The original artwork released last year at D23 Expo had four Tori arches on each of the bridge's suspension towers.

The reality only has three arches per tower. Which makes it look even hokier and faker than the already cheesy WDI artwork.

On the bright side, if you get a hole-in-one on this hole you get a free round of Cokes from the snack bar.

I wonder if they have to make these this color because the Golden Gate Bridge shade is copyrighted or something.

Must have been a Japanese holiday at WDI for those employees when they approved “Lucky Fortune Cookery“ and ”Cocina Cucamonga Mexican Grill“ for their newly Japanese inspired area. ;)
