I just thought of something else....

Six Flags must now change their name to Five Flags in order to be politically correct.
No they don't. They just need to use the first national flag of the Confederate States:

Here is the reverse side of the Seal of Texas:

It has the appropriate Confederate Flag.

Yeah, no one wants to touch the much more serious problems either here or in the real world: too many guns, too much racism. ... a piece of fabric is much more of a danger to this country and its people. Sure.

Except the people that spearheaded the issue in the first place? I doubt they think the act of removing the confederate flag is somehow the end of the discussion. I certainly don't.

You are correct that the removal of the flag should not be used to cover up the actual issues the flag represents: racism and gun violence. Just like the legalization of gay marriage shouldn't take attention away from the rampant discrimination that occurs towards the LGBT community.

It's not like I want the thing to be hung back up again, though.

You want to talk about white-washing, just look at the American Adventure itself. It tiptoes into a few areas of our sordid history, then finishes with a rousing "...but everything is awesome" ending that leaves a bunch of white Americans feeling proud of themselves for doing nothing while they rush to use their Soarin' passes. In that context, go ahead and remove the confederate flag. Because it's not like it's presence is somehow affecting anyone's experience of the attraction beyond making some (Edit: probably many) black guests feel uncomfortable walking underneath it.

Disney needs to shut down the British pavilion as well. Britain owned slaves centuries before the United States.
And Britain invaded India and took it over along with a number of other countries that it made part of it Empire.
I am offended by Britain. We must close down the entire pavilion.

Come to think of it many United States citizens owned slaves for nearly 100 years before the start of the civil war.
And that was before the Confederate Flag was flown. So the American Flag should be banned too right? Right?

What I once thought was that WDW embodied America.............not anymore. They have become PC Corporate Shills.

They should definitely leave it in the "Two Brothers" segment. It can serve as a reminder that the Confederacy lost, and after 150 years it may just be time to accept it and move on.
There are quite a few of our American "icons" in that segment in the end that could/should be "removed" due to their unscrupulous manners and "poor choices" they made in their lives ( Michael Phelps for example). Are they going to erase what those very incredible athletes have done for their sport/our country (Tiger Woods)? The whole thing makes no sense to me.

Oh I'm sorry do I offend your desire to rewrite American history? That freedom of speech that you execute here was earned by the sacrifices of those who fought and died centuries before you were born....and like or not...those in the South who fought under the Confederate battle flag....were part of that history whether you like it or not.

Allow me to point out the stupidity in your response. Saying that those who fought under the confederate flag somehow deserve our respect is like saying those who fought under the nazi flag deserve our respect. Bottom line is that both groups stood for the absolute wrong thing and both groups were big time LOSERS in their respective wars. Now, if you want to keep giving props to bigoted losers, by all means go ahead and do so. In the meantime, I will just sit back and continue to LMAO at you.

You know, you see this kinda hyperbole for 22 pages and it kinda loses its effect.

Perhaps we should remove symbols of white supremacy and domestic terrorism even if they started out as something else.... Much as a Tibetan good-luck charm was co-op'd for the ultimate evil this planet has seen.

I find it reprehensibly offensive that there's more vitriol towards people questioning this symbol rather than focusing that vitriol who have co-op'd that symbol into that of hatred and oppression.

So summed up? Don't get ed at the people who want to put the flag in a museum, get ed at the people who use that flag as a symbol of white supremacy and terrorism.

It just strikes me that hanging it with flags of the legitimate United States is kind of continuing the work started by Southern propagandists. The Confederacy was founded by traitors who sought to perpetuate slavery. Several states were part of Mexico before they part of the United States- should we fly the Mexican flag in the right alongside Old Glory?
So then, what are they going to do with the State of Mississippi flag?

No, the revised Texas schoolbooks have done a fantastic job of rewriting and revising history and the Civil War.

God forbid they examine their own secession documents and speeches.

We all know Disney is very well known for knee jerks, politically corrective actions. They will shut down a ride or change the theme if one person complains. They will remove a bust of Bill Cosby before he is proven guilty by a court of law. They will try to erase history and pretend that it didn't happen because it is the current protest of the month by removing the Confederate flag.

So let's make a list of EVERYTHING that Disney has that offends us or could offend someone
- Haunted Mansion should offend Jehovah's Witnesses since they do not approve of spirits or the occult
- Pirates of the Caribbean: Pirates stole, murdered and enslaved people and raped women and SOLD them in auctions. A Woman Auction is even depicted in the POTC ride.
- Peter Pan's Flight: The Native Americans are depicted in a racist caricature in the ride and in the movie they are call Redskins. Close that ride.
- Jungle Cruise: Don't the jungle natives throw spears at or attack your boat? That's racist to portray them as violent.
- Magic Flight of Aladdin: The Arabs and the Jews have been at war for millennia. This entire ride can be construed as offensive by the Jewish population.
- The entryway to Adventureland is offensive. The human skulls they have on the entryway represent jungle natives as savages who kill humans.

That's just a start......but if Disney (and those of you want to support Disney) want to walk down that path....then be careful where it will take you.
