I do...but trying to teach you .....you are so filled with hate and a passion so revise history that you won't even listen.
It's very sad that you are so willing to censor the past simply because you don't like it.
Just disgraceful.
You shouldn't try and "teach"...that is not what a discussion forum is about.

You have a point, they have a point, you discuss.

But you aren't going to teach.

And, sometimes, you just have to agree to disagree...

Woah, wait a second... You don't honestly believe what you're saying, do you?
Do you? Do you honestly think he was motivated by a flag hanging in an educationally focused pre-queue for a show?

Or even the flag at all?

Do you HONESTLY believe that his crazy and sadistic was motivated due to some fabric?

....

Do you?

The flag should stay. We as American's should not forget where we came from. The Civil War was a defining moment for this nation.

So, that said. Show me where it's "racist" please? Assuming you can apply context, and not flare up with your latest google find.

...I don't really even know what to say about all of this.

These products have become necessities of the world, and a blow at slavery is a blow at commerce and civilization.

This is completely accurate, considering the economic landscape of the time. Again, not racist. Just accurate.

Uh...seems pretty racist to me. That line of text literally says that slavery is a necessity.

You can't separate the racist sentiments of this document from its economic concerns. I mean, that IS racism. Trying to separate the two. That's straight up racism.

You need to take the context and time period into account. What sounds racist in today's society, was based in commerce back then.

Pre-Socrates people thought the Earth was flat. Pre-Galileo people thought the Sun revolved around the Earth. Society evolves, and it's absolutely not an excuse for the philosophy during the Succession times, but you can't just slap the racist tag on it without the context.

In today's age, it's illegal immigrants and their cheaper labor. As a business, why pay more per hour for your workers when you have people who accept below minimum wage no questions asks. If that goes away, businesses aren't going to be happy, because they'll have to pay more.

This is such a complex issue that is about so much more than a piece of fabric. Our country is wounded and somehow needs to be healed. I feel that discussion on such a difficult topic is key to getting to the bottom of these issues. I'm not sure that this is the place though. I'm glad we gave it a shot and I'm very thankful for those who discussed it thoughtfully and respectably. I've learned quite a lot from many of you. Thank you :)
