Oh, those poor Ingalls girls...

You're looking quite young in the photo - nice hair!

Oh, that's not me. It's just some of the local youngsters who like to call me "Uncle Shotgun". The laughs that we share are priceless as I chase them throughout the neighborhood, eventually cornering them in someone's back yard and drilling in the head with 12 gauges worth of pellets. Yes, Uncle Shotgun is a neighborhood favorite with the young people. I...I think I'm starting to cry. I guess deep inside I'll always be a sentimental guy.

I hate to blow my own horn, but deep inside, I'm just a loving guy who likes to expose the existing dangers to rabid pioneer zombie girls. I warn them of worldly perils, and then, well, I shoot them. You'll have to excuse me, but my eyes are welling up with tears again. Can a guy be expected to control his soft-sided nature?

As the middle child of 7 kids, I really felt the need to push the envelope during my teens. It's funny, the 2 of us (my next older brother and myself) were the biggest headaches to our parents then, and are probably the most responsible adults now.

Wow - 7 kids?! I have trouble keeping 2 in line.

So I'm considering taking my mom to the movies today just to see how she'll do there. My past couple of outings have been somewhat less than successful, so I'm a bit aprehensive about this.

OK - guess I'd better rethink the movie idea...

Nemo 14 and I are of the same generation, and the average family had 4 kids. My best friend had 11 in hers and my husband's neighbors had 13. We had 5 in ours, which was the same as most of our neighborhood. We were able to play sandlot softball every evening in the summer, along with epic Hide & Seek games, etc.

There was always someone to play with - no bored kids allowed. No supervision (except from windows) either, so we were constantly in danger.

But we were more concerned about vampires than zombies back then, along with atomic mutation creatures, like the Blob. My friends and I would often play in the nearby cemetery - but never after dark!

OMG that's scary.

Glad she's OK! Check how long he movies are - is there a short one playing? May be fun!

She's OK, but pretty confused at the moment. She thinks she was going to get the mail (my mailbox is attached to the house). I thought she was out in the kitchen having her second cup of coffee, but apparently the back door was open, so she just felt the need to "help out".

* breathes*

This is the first time she's done that here.

True - We had a large field, which was the neighborhood hangout, and tons of woods behind us. On any given day there'd be upwards of 20 or 30 kids in the yard.

True story - this was actually one of the participants in the 4th of July parade yesterday in my old hometown....

Nothing says Happy Birthday America better than a 3 or 4 headed Zombie Dorothy riding a bike in mid-air.

Let me just see if I have this straight:

Nemo14 and The Mom were pretty much pioneer girls growing up? With tributes to zombies in a July 4th parade?

It scares me when I feel myself shifting towards rsoxguy in this thread.

At a July 4th gathering, a distant relative was telling me about his recent purchase (he's 14 and into guns) - it's a 6-shot pistol that can shoot a combination of .45 magnum and .410 shotgun shells. I think we have a zombie-apocalypse fighter in the making, or a serial killer, but I think it's the first.....
