I'd probably ride it, because, though i hate drops, an 80ft drop is very tame. it's nothing compared to the 300+ drop on the rollercoasster at my local sixflags, (and btw, I do agree that it is horrible when friends or family members try to force you onto rollercoaster!) lol. (i didnt read some of the other posts in this thread, so if someone has already said this i apologize.)

Other people just don't want you to miss out on something you might actually LIKE, but never tried. Kind of like not eating something you've never tried before.

Carpe Diem.

That'd be true if we'd never even tried a coaster or anything of the sort. Drops ruin my day - even little ones like in Pirates :p

I drew a little picture for comparisons. The first bar is Splash, the second is Everest and the third is Kraken (for a big Orlando coaster)

To date, I have been on very attraction at WDW, DL, DLP and TDL (at least at the time of my last visit). I'm not going to break that record so I WILL go on EE, just to say that I did...but that doesn't mean I'm gonna LIKE it (grin). Like others, I'm not a huge coaster fan...you can spin me forever, catapult me as many MPH as you'd like, even swing me upside down...but I don't like drops. I'm not thrilled with Splash Mountain's drop but I agree to go on that a few times per year because I like the AA's, music, theming, etc. EE's drop sounds a little on the scary side for me, but I "have" to go on it, even if it's just once, just say be able to say I did.

Straight down does for me. I still haven't plucked up enough nerve for our tall local tower rides, let alone Tower of Terror. One day I'll get there though... I've managed this one, which only drops a little way down at a time (and isn't exactly tall to start with)
<img src="http://www.inquisitivemonkey.co.uk/images/articles/99/PIC_0017.JPG" width="320" height="240"/>

When I was about 10, we went to Orlando, and my grandparents made me go on Scorpion and Python and Busch Gardens. They put me off rollercoasters for a good 5 years or so. (It even put me off Pirates of the Caribbean, because of the drop). I still think the feeling of loosing your stomach isn't a pleasant one, but eventually I worked my way back into coasters (getting gradually bigger), and now I love them. I think of the drop as a neccessary evil, something that has to be done in order to get the the rest of a fantastic ride. Nowadays, I need a coaster rush every couple of months otherwise I'll go insane... even if it is just a rickety old one at a local funfair.

Yup! Don't try to tell someone what they will or will not like. Of the two of us, I'm the only one who knows what I like. The drop in Pirates is about 0.5 seconds away from being too much for me. I get very tense when we reach that part despite having ridden it a hundred times. You couldn't get my lifeless corpse on Splash Mountain and you certainly won't get me on EE. Why that impacts everyone else or why people insist upon forcing their preferences on others is beyond me.

A drop - of any size - will ruin my entire day. So why would I "just try it" when I already know how my body reacts to drops already? I got talked into doing Space Mountain because people gave me such a hard time that it wasn't fast or intense. It made me cry in absolute fear. You may think that's insane but you know what? It's beyond my tolerence. You might be able to fall asleep during it but I can't. And something like EE is way beyond the intensity level of SM. And there's too much fun to be had at WDW to ruin my day and make myself sick and miserable over a ride that I know and accept is beyond my tolerence level.

Leave those of us who aren't going to ride it be. I'm sorry but it's not for everyone and you need to learn to accept it and not push the issue.

It may be just me,but I do believe there are 30-50 coasters that use launches instead of drops.

That doesn't make them drop-less coasters.

There are plenty of coasters now but when it was built it wasn't that common. And if you ride RnRC you will notice that there aren't any large drops not even the size of splash. Thats something that all those other 50-60 Launching coasters most likely have at some point in the ride.

My point is i can go as fast as i want i can go upside down make any banked turn at any speed, but if you drop me i can't handle it.

Theres just that 80ft drop from the roof midway through the first inversion. ;)

I know what you mean though, RnR's launch makes it all happen so fast you dont really have any sense of dropping from that height.

Count me in. I've never liked coaster rides and I hate dropping. It's sad because I won't even ride Splash Mountain and I would LOVE to see the AAs on it. I wish they had a walk through section or something. I get a little tense on the Pirates drop as well. I rode Big Thunder and didn't have much of a problem, but there aren't a lot of big drops on that one. Needless to say Tower of Terror is a negative as well.

I ain't doin it..ever. No way no how, not if Walt Disney's spirit himself descends out of the clouds and begs me. I will be there in June, Hubby and son can't wait. They can have fun, I will go see the birds or something. :dazzle:

ogryn? you don't like that losing your stomach feeling? lol, that's what makes these rides so awesome for me, the first time you go on, the drop seems to go on forever and by the end you've screamed so much you don't have any air left in your lungs, ha ha ha, may sound odd, but i love that! And by the way, Splash Mountian after all the times I've been on it seems like nothing, so this is only 30 feet more, so it shouldn't be too bad, the thing about the 80 foot drop on EE that I think everybody will be shocked by is that it goes STRAIGHT down, whereas Splash Mountian was at an angle (obviously) .

I read on a site somewhere that the highest track point is 120 feet high, the longest drop is 80 feet high, the highest speed is 50 mph, and the top of the mountian is 200 feet, but I think the part with the 120 feet high mark is the very first drop, which I don't think is the 80 foot one.

I totally agree. That feeling that the drop is going on forever is the best in the world. Just takes some getting used to.

I used to hate roller coasters but then I started riding them and still didn't like the drops too much. Then I got a job at Six Flags and I got to ride roller coasters everyday and you get to where you want that feeling to last longer and longer each time. I've been following EE ever since the ride was announced and I CAN'T WAIT TO RIDE IT :) The first time is always the best

I agree 100% DisneyGuyJake, I'll never forget the first time I went on Splash Mountian, it was during mickey's very merry christmas party so it was really dark when I went on it, and I will always remember when it takes your breath away. But now I raise my arms and I still get that feeling, but I'm so used to it that it doesn't even phase me.

I enjoy rolllercoaster now, but 4 years ago you couldn't have paid me enough money to ride one. I do have my limits however...I was *really* anxious about RnRC but when I got off I really enjoyed it. Space, Splash, and Big Thunder are all top notch! No problems at all. But when the drop starts to increase in height, I get nervous.

I was forced to ride Rebel Yell @ Kings Dominion and thought I was going to die. All it had was hills and it was so rickety, I thought my spine was going to shatter. The drop was about 90 ft. or so. Now there is another ride called Anaconda with a 115 ft. drop (or something in that range) and I love it!

Go figure....

People can have whatever opinion they want on riding rides...I've come from both sides of the argument :D

I'll ride it for you guys! ;)

And I think Steve said it best. You only live once and WDI is making this ride so that everyone should be able to ride it. I say give it a chance!
