Genius. Newsom waits to send a team to Florida until after Florida relaxed all their guidelines so they can report back "not enough social distancing!" and slam Disney even further.

Really this isn't about Florida's state policy regarding COVID, but Disney enforcing their own policies. If Disney can't guarantee enforcement of the same policies they intend to use to justify reopening, then they shouldn't be allowed to reopen.

It may benefit Disneyland, because if the parks at wdw are operating at 50%, and the policies are being upheld by Disney, maybe the governor will feel better. Also, I’m sure Disney and universal are giving the team a wonderful vacation.

Hope everyone is enjoying their Indigenous People's Day.
Columbus can shove it. Creep.

Anyway, i was sitting back today enjoying a grape juice and thinking about something positive regarding DIsneyland on this cold grey afternoon in happy Massachusetts 2,684 miles away.

Ya know....
We should ALL REJOICE.
REJOICE !!

Why?

Even though Disneyland is still closed, we can REJOICE in the fact that there will be NO 'Haunted Mansion Holiday' overlay this year.
For the first time in , what, twenty something years...the 'Mansion' will be its ghostly self for Halloween.
YES!!
YES!!!
YASSSSSSSSss!!!!!!

( woo...that was strong grape juice....)

Even though none of us will actually be able to go on it on Halloween, the fact that Jack and Co. won't be there just makes my heart happy.

Newson just hinted that he is sending a team to Florida this week, To look at the operations of WDW. This is great, just don’t know why it wasn’t done earlier.

Geez, he should have just contacted me.
Would have saved the State of CA some money too.....since those guys wouldn't have to fly back n' forth coast to coast.

I could have told him everything he wanted to know since i was just there at WDW two weeks ago.
Could have told him exactly what 'worked' and what 'did not'.

In a nutshell -
For the most part, WDW did just fine.
No reason why DLR couldn't do something similar.

o. If Disney is saying that they can enforce social distancing and mask wearing, then they have to show that they can. Consider this a test of how serious people respect Disney's own policies.

Yeah, Disneyland is never gonna reopen.

Sure it will. Gotta try to stay positive!

>>Gov. Gavin Newsom said a team from his administration will head to Florida to inspect the reopening protocols of Walt Disney World ahead of issuing COVID-19 health and safety guidelines for Disneyland and other California theme parks.

Newsom commented on amusement parks reopening guidelines during a news conference on Monday, Oct. 12.

Disneyland and other California theme parks remain closed amid the COVID-19 pandemic while they await long-promised reopening guidelines from the state.

Newsom said his administration will be sending a team to Florida to visit Disney World to answer a key question: What can California learn from other states that have successfully reopened sectors of the economy?

“I have a whole team that spends their time not only getting the answer to that question, but asking those same questions,” Newsom said during the news conference. “And so this week, as a proof point of that, we have supported an effort to actually find out directly by sending our own team to these sites, as relates to theme parks, to get a better sense of what’s going on. While we absolutely take people’s word for information that they provide us, we want to see things for ourselves.”<<

If it's not about Florida's state policy then why didn't Newsom send a team months ago??? Seriously, how much is his staff paying you to post here???

If I might throw my 2 cents in here for a second.

I think it comes down to two points:

1. Why now and not a couple months ago? Because they wanted to wait a couple months to see if there would be any issues.
2. And why sending them. Because its "show me" not just "tell me". They want to make sure what Disney actually says they are doing is indeed what they are really doing. Now I hope they do it like a "secret shopper" where they go in as an actual customer and not an escorted VIP.

It's just a get out of Cali and go to WDW while writing it off as an official business type trip. Tax payer money at work cough, cough.

Regarding point #2, Florida has rampant reports of hiding the true Covid case numbers. Florida often doesn't report their daily numbers including cases, deaths and hospitalizations. The state has been fighting what constitutes a Covid death, which is leading to undercounts of death totals. Contract tracing in Florida is often non existent. Newson has every reason to not believe a word Florida is saying regarding Covid.
