Obscure Extinct WDW Shop

not sure but those shops sound so much more interesting than what it is now, shop after shop of the same merchandise with little variety between shops.

From the placement on the map, I'm betting it was just a stand or kiosk. There really isn't room for a building there.

I don't have any pictures of it, but I certainly remember it. As I recall, and some details may be a bit hazy, it was a small, open air kiosk type of shop pretty much themed to fit in with the Haunted Mansion...or perhaps I just remember it themed that way due to its proximity to HM. As a little kid I used to think the "invisible dog on a leash" gags they sold there were the coolest thing ever! Shows what a little kid knows! haha! As a kid that was indeed one of my favorite places to get a souvenir at WDW, I would always get some small little magic trick thing. I also remember the masks being for sale there, which of course you wouldn't be allowed to wear these days. It was a great little place and one of the things I miss every time I go back actually.

Funny you say that because there were two other magic stores in MK at this time.

I find this location interesting because Mike Fink and magic are an odd couple and I wanted to find out if this was more than a stand.

Steve Martin worked at a Magic Shop before he got into show business. I can't recall if he worked at WDW, or DL though.

This shop was what Mme Leota's is now, it was located in the drive shed/horse carriage building, to the right of where the fast pass distribution was located. I believe its used as an office now, or storage...

I vaguely remember that little shop.
I think I got my super-cool Haunted Mansion puzzle box there eons ago.

Wish I still had that box ..........

This is pretty much it. It was a kiosk selling "spooky" items outside the Haunted Mansion. If I remember correctly, in many ways, this little stand was a trailblazer because it was one of the first WDW Attraction Specific "store" located outside an attraction. Back then, almost all the stores (aside from the Emporium) were Land Specific. There was also the full-fledged PotC store at the top of the moving walkway too.

I remember the magic shop on Main St, as we always stopped there every trip. My husband has always enjoyed doing little sleight of hand tricks. We also purchased the most incredible dragon mask there one year. It's still in our Halloween closet.

The shop over in Adventureland had many imported items, and I actually bought a few pieces of brass jewelry and some skirts there. I lost the earrings, but still wear the bracelet from time to time.

We purchased a fireplace bellows that had hammered brass decoration in the Morrocan pavilion one year. We haven't seen one since, as we specifically wanted to purchase another to give as a gift.

I remember it as a kiosk more than as an actual walk in store.

And Steve Martin worked in Disneyland. He writes about it in his biography. :)

That`s exactly how I recall it. I got a magic wand from there in `79 :D

Called the Keel Boat Shoppe from 1975 to 88.
I found one brochure calling it the Keelboat Hat Shoppe in 1976.
Re-named Ichabods Landing in 1988, last listed in Guide Map in 1995, last in Birnbaums 1999.

Yep. I remember that place as well. I recall getting miniature replicas of the stones outside of the HM.

As for the House of Magic, that was one of my favorite stores. I think I still have the hand buzzer I got from there some where.

I remember the dog leashes! Also I can very much recall a fake broken egg and fake vomit. Disney used to have wonderful unique shopping. Every area had a theme. Frontierland sold frontier stuff, Main St. sold miscellaneous things, etc. Now it is all the same....I guess they think each ride having a gift shop gives us our mix of shopping and it's more economical to have a bunch of World of Disney stores.

Wonder if there are any photos of this magic shop floating around. That was the store I always looked forward to when visiting MK. If only I had the numerous glow-in-the-dark skulls or magic sets I got there......I think Mom threw them out long long ago. :(

Loved that place.
