Not good but saw it coming

Ive never seen 60 minutes for MS except for opening week. Very odd

I saw about a 2 hour+ wait during the Christmas holiday, and over an hour about a month ago. Haven't been to Epcot since then so can't comment about the last month.

So...I saw a 60 minute wait a month ago.

If Disney had made a multi-million dollar mistake, don't you think they would do whatever it takes to cover it up?

No. I don't think they made a mistake. It is not in Disney's best interest to "kill people".

You're extrapolating from the past. Two totally different instances. I understand why it makes sense to relate the two, but there isn't much relation. The symptoms were different, the ages were different, the people were different, the lurking variables were different. The most recent could have been anything that none of us are seeing because we don't know exactly what happened.

Let's be rational and not so quick to place blame. IMO, blame is impossible. There is no one/thing that is at fault. Just a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Someone recently got very hurt on the Peter Pan ride. Should Disney shut that ride down as well? I believe a kid has died on Space Mountain as well if I'm remembering correctly.

And someone HAS died on HM as well.

Not to mention numerous rides I left out of that list for brevity's sake.

Your right. Two totally diffrent cases. Diffrent age, ______, ect... The only thing thats the same in both is MS...hmmmm...And your right...we dont know exactly what happened...but you can't use the arg. that this was a freak accident anymore. There has to be a thorough investigation on the ride's effect on the human body before they can just re open it and say everything is fine and dandy. Two deaths means theres something wrong.

Don't forget about BTMRR at Disneyland. Someone actually died on that one, and it was the mechanics fault. But wait, what did they do? They fixed it and re-opened it, Disney will not be closing M:S. Get it out of your heads.

No, it just means that people who shouldn't be riding it are riding it. Even if they know of their condition or not, Disney can't police that.

Actually people have died on Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain, and Space Mountain. And people have been injured on the Safari and the Speedway.

You know what I don't get ...

When a large tube (of a water ride) breaks and crashes down to the ground with "only" 20 people in it, in Wet and Wild, a couple of years ago... 12 died... it was a dissaster people were scattered everwhere on the grounds...
There were warninig signs about warning people NOT forming a snake, there even is a W&W employee at the entrance of the tube...
But people don't read signs, and therefore you can't blame W&W because they formed a snake half way inside the tube...

W&W repaired the attraction, and re-opened it and nothing was ever mentioned about the accident ever since...

But a when grand Mogul has 2 or 2 deads.. in one of his parks... everyone starts shouting...

It was a tragic accident... Yes, indeed, but it might as well could have happened, in Rio del Tiempo!!!

Or in Bush Gardens while riding Shekra... then the blame would be on Busch Gardens, because Shekra would be unsafe... No Sir.

Some years ago there was some guy who bumped his head in S:M because he came up from his seat... Tried to sue Disney... C'mon..
There ARE warning signs...

I regret the accident, but it was communicated on the warning signs...

Example:

Girl dies in TL... everyone jumps up!!!
Disgrace... Disney Shame on you!!!
The girl actually, had litterally been frying in the sun for more than 2 hours... in the Florida sun, she came up too fast a had a fatal stroke...

Agian Disney's fault...
Maybe it's Florida's fault!! they should punish the State of florida? it's the their Florida sun...
Should a CM come up to you, sayn' excuse me... but your laying in the sun for 20 minutes now, without a drink, please be careful, yoú might get a stroke when you come up again...

C'mon... it goes too far...

Just a note

I normally don't post but just thought that I would mention that this incident did make a news blurb on the AOL Welcome page today. I am sorry I did not think to grab the link and post it here.:(

Don't worry about it... It was just a hint! :D

Two observations to add to the discussion:

1) Mission Space gets more attention because it is not like other rides. So someone dying on MS seems more "suspect" than someone dying on a roller coaster, just because it's different. If someone dies on a roller coaster, people generally think, "well, I've ridden lots of coasters before and I came out OK" but if the same thing happens on MS, people think, "wow, that "new" ride sounds really dangerous".

2) In this day and age, people with "medical conditions" can do just about anything they want - run marathons, climb mountains, teach school, etc et. Due to the wonders of modern medicine and improvements in society, we just don't view most "medical conditions" as limitations. I take medicine for high blood pressure, but other than popping the pill daily (and forcing myself to diet and exercise), I never even think about it. It would be very easy for me to hop on a ride, even if warnings were posted, because I just don't consider myself to have "medical conditions" (even though I do).

Wow, this has been one hell of a thread. And read my first post on the first page, guess it didn't help much huh?

Guess not. I tried around page four or so, but it seems that cooler heads just don't want to prevail. :brick:

Everything you just said is true, but sadly none of these "die hards" are ever going to even consider that this ride is at fault....It's best to just let it go.
It's funny that you think others are "die hards" cauase they are against your thoughts in M:S. Will next time when you defend some attraction in WDW, you become the die hard fan thinking disney would never go wrong. Just becasue people think M:S is fine to stay doesn't mean they are "die-hard" fan.

You should do some research before you posted them.
