Hey:wave:

I can tell you that the new Potter E-ticket will be mind blowing and will, in my opinion, be better than Forbidden Journey especially from a show standpoint. This of course is assuming that JK and Warner will finally green light the plans. I can also tell you that, as of now, Transformers is coming along with something to replace Fear Factor.

Well, well, well.

Another country heard from.

What an interesting thread...

Some at WDI knew about the deal, but not until it had been decided what park would be involved. They were ordered to come up with something for Avatar in DAK, yes without consulting with Rhode first.Art exists...but it is extremely "top secret" at this point, and is so blue sky that the final product may well be totally different.

I've wondered what he thought about this addition, especially since it seems like a different direction for his park.

i was at the show on the 2nd of october too, was really annoyed at there being no mickey. i had some first timers with me and they really enjoyed the show but i just kept on telling them that the fireworks at the end have a reason not just as a show finale but because sorceror mickey is casting the spells at the top.

So you were at the second show on Oct 2nd too and witness no Sorcerer Mickey too, right??? That blows the pixie duster out of the water who claims Sorcerer Mickey was at the end of the show... Thanks for backing this up!!!

The Avatar deal was pushed by Staggs, on the orders of Iger.
Iger wanted to land a big fish, like Eisner did with Lucas, especially after letting JKR get away.

Another tease - there's discussions on both Potter expansion and Avatar on our show coming out at noon on Sunday. I'd be interested to see whether the info the two of you have correlates with Jim Hill's info.

And now we're in the second decade of the 21st century and there is a gread deal of impressive new technology that could improve the WDW show, not to mention using newer or more popular Disney material (Hello, Pocahontas, your agent called to let you know you haven't had a call-back in years).

Why does everyone hate Pocahontas so much??? She's my 3rd favorite "disney princess" and the Pocahontas scene is one of my favorite parts of Fantasmic because it's just so beautiful it makes me cry. And I wish people would stop saying she's unpopular because she's not. Disney just likes to try to ignore her cause she's not a "traditional" princess. In reality i've met a lot of little girls who say Pocahontas is their favorite princess. I even know a bunch teenagers who love that movie because they grew up with it just like a lot of other disney movies that people try to ignore. She is popular Disney just likes to pretend she's not cause its easier that way. Its the exact same thing they do with Mulan (just look what they did to those to at Rapunzel's induction.) And even if she wasn't popular, popularity doesn't mean quality. I think the Pocahontas part of the show is beautiful and emotional and should be kept around.

Actually, the post you quote just says they were at "the" 2nd of October show, not which one.

So, doesn't blow anything [or anyone] out of anywhere or back anything up.

I agree with what everyone has said about Disneyland caring for their Fantasmic! and WDW, not so much. I grew up going to Walt Disney World (live in Indiana here) and Fantasmic! was always my favorite show. Then, this past year, I went to Disneyland for the first time ever and experienced their Fantasmic! It was like watching the HD version of the show, lol. It's so awesome looking and it's sad that WDW's isn't matching it. Not even close.

It pains me to say this, but what if they did away with Fantasmic at WDW and installed World of Color? That show is amazing and could give Disney's Hollywood Studios something fresh, new and exciting. Thoughts?

It is kind of sad, isn't it? Especially because the WDW version has the more comfortable aquacade seating for the show, and there's just so much potential there. At Disneyland they work around an operating Rivers of America major attraction area. The Mark Twain, the Columbia, the Island, the Canoes, the Rafts; they were all things you probably experienced that afternoon as an attraction, but then at night it all transforms into this major water spectacular and you sit on the ground or stand to watch it. Plus it opened first at Disneyland in 1992 as a three-year "temporary" offering until they could get Toontown up and running and Indy opened in '95.

Fantasmic! shouldn't be better at Disneyland, it shouldn't have even made it past the 1990's. But there it is at Disneyland in 2011 looking fresher and crisper and far more polished than the tired WDW version. It's just weird. :veryconfu

There's merit to the concept of turning the Fantasmic! at DHS into an East Coast version of World of Color. And yet... it would seem to be a step backward and a diminishing of WDW's overall offerings. WDW is so huge, and has four separate theme parks, why the heck would it have fewer night spectaculars than tiny, little Disneyland?

Tonight, Saturday, October 15th, Disneyland Resort and its two little parks will be offering the following night entertainment, after the various afternoon parades and stage shows and street cavalcades are done;

Disneyland 08:00AM to Midnight
Fantasmic! at 9:00PM and 10:30PM
Remember Fireworks at 8:40PM
The Magic, The Memories, And You! at 9:30PM
Swing Dancing at Plaza Gardens with the Tim Gill Orchestra 7:00PM to 11:00PM
Contemporary Dancing at Tomorrowland Terrace with The 80z All Starz 7:00PM to 11:00PM

Disney California Adventure 10:00AM to 10:00PM
World of Color at 8:00PM and 9:15PM
elecTRONica street party/dancing/gaming from 6:15PM to 10:00PM

So if DLR's two small theme parks can cram all that in during an off-peak period, during major construction in DCA when its two parades are on hiatus until next summer (Pixar Play Parade and Disney's Electrical Parade), why would it be okay for WDW to lose Fantasmic! simply to gain a version of World of Color? There's still no night entertainment at all in DAK, and there's no water show of any kind at Magic Kingdom. Either of those two parks would be a good candidate for World of Color II.

I would hate to see WDW's four big parks lose an existing night spectacular to get a clone of World of Color. World of Color was created as an addition to Disneyland Resort, not as a replacement for Fantasmic! If World of Color is added to WDW, it should be used the same way, as an addition not just a replacement for a badly aging show.

The real answer here is to fix the DHS version of Fantasmic! and get it up to Disneyland standards or beyond. And then add World of Color to one of the other WDW parks that lack a major nighttime spectacular or water show.

I think it's great that some people love Pocahontas, but unfortunately, product sales or even any quantifiable measure of popularity don't back this up. Even if Pocahontas were the most popular Disney princess, the movie's time in the spotlight during this vignette-style show would be incredibly disproportionate. It's clear that DHS' Pocahontasmic--I mean Fantasmic--was created during a time when the movie was still fresh, and hasn't been updated.

As for the substance of this news, I think (I think I've posted here like 5 times without commenting on it once) it's terrible that the show goes on like this, but I'm just glad it doesn't affect me. I won't watch this show anywhere but at Disneyland now. WDW's version is a joke by comparison.

Think for yourselfer

I was at DL for part of my honeymoon in 2010, we got the priority dessert party seating for Fantasmic. We were completely blown away by it. That video brought back some great memories. Thanks.

About WDW's version. I have not seen it in almost 2 years, the last time I did see it, it was less then crisp. And it is pretty sad to hear about the state of it now. I think we will probably be skipping the 1.5 hour line for a less then stellar show this year. Leaves more time for F&W anyway. :sohappy:

Yes, that WOULD be ideal! I was just thinking though how it seems they don't even care to keep up with maintenance and updates, maybe just put something else in. I don't know. I would NOT like to see Fantasmic! go, but if it HAD to go and it was going to be replaced, World of Color would be a fine replacement. I wouldn't mind it seeing it going to any of the parks either, though. Where could you see it at MK?

IMO, I'd love to see a WoC style show go to Animal Kingdom, It's one of the only things they can do there really.

Regarding Fantasmic, Sadly, what ive read on here will give me a reason to not want to see it Until Further Notice (Im an AP Local so ive seen it alot).
Fantasmic is a DHS Classic, I'd love to see some scenes added/replaced, but not the entire show (The dragon could use an update also)

It is time to close Fantasmic and install WOC (based on Disney animation) or possibly adapt the location to show the Nemo show from DAK integrated with WoC technology.

If you want to see Fantasmic, go to Disneyland. If you want to see Illuminations, go to WDW.

That is what I would like to see happen.

Frankly, I'm surprised that Steve hasn't banned '74 from this forum yet. :hammer:

Yeah...we wouldn't want someone intelligent, extremely well-connected and honest to come in and maybe spread some real insight and knowledge.

Better to just Praise Mickey and keep hitting the pixie dust, 'cause we all know Disney can do no wrong...

Good grief....

The Pixie Dust Brigade do not like when people speak the truth about the mouse... They don't like when Mickey is questioned... They don't like when Mickey is shown to be just another money hungry corporation which is less than perfect and who, lately, gives guests less and less while taking more and more (in WDW anyway)... The Pixie Dust Brigade wants these people to be silenced...

I've been the same way for years now. But this thread now has me wanting to see the WDW version of Fantasmic! on my next trip just out of morbid curiosity.

I was going to be there this month for Food & Wine and could have seen it within days from now, but I had to postpone the October trip. :(
