Nibblesandbits Amazingly Wonderful Trip Report Number 7 (Feb. 3-9)

Hello all and welcome to another installment of my wonderful trip reports. Let’s see, I think I’ve now made it down there 4 times in a year for a whole year (if the year started in Feb.) APs really are dangerous! And sadly enough...I still have another TR floating around on the main page here...maybe I do go down too often...:lookaroun

This trip was just me and What’s His Face (WHF from now on for those of you not in the know) and our vacation dates were from Feb. 3-9.

This really was a quick jaunt down to the House of Mouse, since WHF and we have our APs and well, we get free hotel stays since WHF works for a hotel chain. Also, it’s our (apparently annual) Christmas present to each other. However, we were also trying to budget ourselves and spend as little money as possible, while getting a nice “warm” getaway. (I use warm loosely…as you’ll plainly see later.) So, off we went.

As with any vacation, to keep the place getting stale, we tried some things we’d never done before. And we had a really great time with each other, which is the goal, right? We also experienced our first AP preview ever, which was really great.

So, now, what you’ve all been waiting for…let’s get on with it!

WHF really loves the San Antonio Spurs. I'd love to take him down there to see a Spurs game and go to Riverwalk (that's what it's called, right?). He really has raved about San Antonio...as he's been there before. He hasn't stayed at the Hyatt there though...that sounds really nice.

Hahaha...when I first started calling him that, the girls and guys in the Magic Friends thread in chit chat were all thrown by it too...it's just so much easier than typing out What's His Face everytime. Even though it looks so wrong... Either name would fit though...:lookaroun

My mother-in-law is a Spurs nut. I'm talking over-the-top nutty. She doesn't miss the games on tv. It's so weird to watch an otherwise sweet, mild lady turn into a jumping, screaming, wild fanatic! The in-laws go over to San Antonio at least once a month or so for weekend trips that are conveniently scheduled when they can get to a game, too. They have stayed at the Hyatt you're thinking of. I think it's the Hyatt Regency. It's downtown right on the Riverwalk which is really a neat area. And, of course, the Alamo is a few blocks away. The Hyatt Hill Country is a big resort with a golf course, lazy river that really looks like a stream thru the woods, super-nice restaurants, and of course a full service spa. It's very nice...just pricey. (I priced it for spring break the week after next and it was like $299/night) If y'all can go there for free I'd soooo recommend it. It's beautiful.

And WHF sounds much like my old man...considering either name fits! :ROFLOL:

Okay, first I must say how jealous I am of your and Fishy both having finished your reports, and I'm still working on mine, when I left way before you guys! :brick:

Someone needs to come and babysit so I can get that wrapped up.

Thursday Feb. 5
MK and Trail's End

The meal at Trails End is amazing. If you’ve never been, go! It’s a buffet and it’s fabulous…and thanks to DisneyBunny for letting us know about this place. The fried chicken is amazing, the have great mashed potatoes, green beans, corn bread, plus they had a really great brownie! Keep in mind…Vince still isn’t here and we’ve already pretty much eaten the meal portion (hadn’t had dessert yet.)

Finally, Vince comes strolling in the door. He’d thought he could take his car to Trail’s End…not realizing that he had to take the internal bus system to get there…so he drove his car there, realized he couldn’t park, drove it back to the main parking lot and then had to wait for a bus. Silly Mermaid!

I got myself a delicious Magic Cookie Bar!!! :slurp: Then back to the hotel it was.

Okay, first, what's a Magic Cookie Bar?? And where can I get one!!?!?

We thought of you when we ate at the TE in January... I don't think I'll ever be able to eat there without thinking of you guys

But, yes, the bus system does STINK if you want to get to dinner in time. We took the buses last time because it looked a lot like rain, and it was way too cold to have the girl outside on a boat, so we were stuck with a loooooong bus ride. Boats from now on for us!

Friday Feb. 6

After that, I was supposed to meet one of my podcast listeners so we could see the American Idol Experience together. Unfortunately, our planning was poor, as we had decided to meet right as Block Party Bash was coming. So, I got to experience this with a show stop for the first time. We were in the Monster’s Inc section.

It really is a great parade. We had a lot of fun watching it.

Is it me, or are these some of the most unflattering costumes in Disney history. Those poor performers...:dazzle:

Oh! And I gotta tell ya that your abbreviation for Whats-His-Face totally throws me off in a very funny way. I keep seeing it and my brain immediately reads it as "What-The-F***" because the abbreviation is so similar. Go back and read some of your report and insert . It's pretty dang funny! :ROFLOL:

That's so funny, I do the same thing!! LOL

Bunny- Yes, very unflattering costumes...poor girls!

-Great Studios night shots! I know you said your camera's not that great, but you got some great pics!

-BTW, was the new plumber guy's name Joe...:ROFLOL:

-Fun TR...I'm sure you'll have another one in a few months!!

Ooh...I'll have to try it there sometime. I think WHF and I will like it.

Sweetie, you know I'd babysit anytime. If only I lived a little closer. :)

A Magic Cookie Bar is actually something that's very common, but I think they taste better on Disney property. Here's the link the the recipe. You should be able to handle it. :D Probably taste like Disney's version, too. At Disney you can find them at Roaring Forks in the Wilderness Lodge. (Oh and a note, when I made them, I used more graham crackers then it says...there wasn't going to be enough for the size pan using the amount stated there...it would have been a really thin layer at least...I at least doubled the amount of graham crackers.

We thought of you too while we were at Trail's End. It wasn't the same without you all either. :( I thought it was so funny once I found out what happened to Vince. At least he got to eat and we waited for him...sort of...

And yes, those are awful outfits.

That's so funny, I do the same thing!! LOL

Thank you for the comment about the nighttime shots. I have a new point and shoot I've been playing with. It actually worked here, which makes me happy. No tripod used on any of those either...so, I'm actually really please with the quality of them because of that.

I'm not sure his name...:lookaroun

And thanks! I should possibly have another TR in May...and if not then, definitely Sept. :)

Great TR Nibbs. It was cool when we were there too, at least at night. Daytime was not that bad though.

Thanks! Yeah...the cool air was just so weird. It's like, I'm in Florida. It's nice that it was at least warm for you in the afternoon. The days we were there, as you can tell, it obviously wasn't warm in the daytime either.

Thank you!!!

Great Report Nibbs wish we could have met ole well maybe one day!:)

I know...I wished our schedules would have meshed. :( Next time. :)

I'm glad you didn't get sick again!! I'm like you, I'm not a fan of driving. We used to do it all the time and now I avoid it like the plague. It just seems like we're wasting so much time!!

I'm glad you had fun though!:)

Thank you! And so am I! Matter of fact, a couple of times I was reminded of the fact of how sick I actually felt and how much better it was to be feeling in 100% condition again now.

Yeah...that's why I'm not a fan of driving...although the fact that we did it at night helped a lot...it didn't feel as if we were really wasting as much...although being so tired didn't really help things all that much either.

Yep...a hotel in an airport, which was awesome.

Great TR Nibbs! I'm glad you guys had a great trip!

Thanks Sammie!

:wave:Thanks for sharing. Report was awesome as usual!

Thank you as well!
