I've spent time in both, and they have such distinct personalities that I can't choose. It's like picking a favorite song . . . it all depends on your mood.

If I'm just hanging out, I'd rather hang out with the people of Chicago. If I'm in a fight, I'd rather have the people of New York on the same side.

Hows that for a cop-out?

Yes, it's called CHICAGO STYLE DEEP DISH :D

Often imitated, never duplicated... Although I have seen it on many menus in many towns in states far, far away.

I've spent time in both places (spent, not done!) and would have to choose.....

New York, New York! :sohappy:

(I've also spent time in Philadelphia and Boston...New York still wins.)

My Broncos pretty much handed it to them last night.

a. we suck in pre-season.

b. our defense rocks.

c. you were playing our third string QB and offensive line. :)

d. I didn't care who won, I was on an emotional high last night while I was AT the game. In Champaign. 6 blocks from my apartment. amazing.

and Grese looks good so far this year. :)

On the highlights, it looked like Urlacher pretty much had his way with the Broncos. I'm hoping Griese stays healthy, but Beurline is a good backup.

How big is the stadium in Champaign? Who's going to be your starting QB? Chandler or ?? ??

I can't believe there's even a poll on this ... Chicago all the way.

Nothing beats sitting in the bleachers in Wrigley ... and no other city can touch Chicago pizza.

And Chicago style hot dogs aren't too shabby either - anyone for Gold Coast Dogs? ;)

I've learned never, ever to eat pizza in any other town other than Chicago ... other cities just don't *get it*.

So Chi-town ... definitely.

:D :D :D

pre season does not count...:p half those guys wont make the final cut....and come sept they will be all set.

Champaign...welll its was great...my sister drove down from Milwaukee to see the game..tons more room to tail gate..compared to the museum campus at Soldier.

Security was non existant in and out of the stadium..but I expect that to be beefed up in the reg. season...... oh and a fight broke out between a Broncos and bears fan in front of my sister....lol...lovely......

Traffic was a mess from the start of I-57 all the way down pretty much...its a college town so of course there is a bar every 5 feet....the school really made out with the bears playing there...meaning the bears gave them big money...not to mention a new state of the art JumboTron and score board....and damn is it bright as you may of seen in the highlight cuts....

all the hotels from I-80 south were booked solid....even for a pre season game...:hammer: :)

Yeah, My sister claim that Urlacher is her future husband. haha. But he is so a favorite. I swear that half of the stadium had his jersey on, including myself and my sister.

The stadium is actually a bit bigger than Soldier Field. It seats around 72 thousand. The noise level is absoultly insane when at full capacity.

And Chandler will probably be backup, though both him and Jim Miller are both injury prone guys. Miller was our guy last year, I have a feeling he will be this year too.

And to what DMC-12 said,

Yes, TONS more room to tailgate. Both assembly hall and memorial stadium are right next to each other, so they both benifit from each others parking. and they are on the very south end of campus, with tons of room for grass parking.

Haha, that fight that took place was near my sister too. (she had tickets thru the YMCA, I had my season tickets. so we were in totally different spots.)

My seats are in the horse shoe, and we can see and hear perfectly well. they put in a brand new speaker system, I swear you can hear it for miles around. the new scoreboard is compliments of the chicago bears, and it looks amazing! I nearly cried looking at it for the first time. The scoreboard/jumbotron is in the middle, with 2 large pitcures to each side. Halas was a UofI man who actually started the bears orginazation. (thus the orange and blue). And the other three guys are all bears who played for illinois.

rambling on....

um, oh security. they are doing it a bit differently. instead of doing it right at the gates in the building, you do it at fenced in places away from there. yeah, non existant, but so much faster to get in there.

The university gets 1/2 of all ticket sales, parking, and they had the coaches offices re-done, the new jumbo tron, and not to mention the revenue they gain from being in town. there will be 15 weekends of football at memeorial stadium between the illini and the bears. so area businesses are really happy.

We have a huge campus anyway, with 36 thousand students. so many bars are needed to quench our thurst. ;) but seriously, our bars are great. (Legends is hosting ESPN radio for every home game). Some of them have great food! (Legend's is so the best.)

The only problem with traffic is that there are two was to get out of there. I-57 and 74. I-57 goes north to Kankakee/ Chicago. thus, that is the way everyone is going. I can't even imagion what the traffic will be like for regular season games. yikes!

And even Kankakee was booked solid for this game. Training camp is still there, but jeez! And what an impressive game turnout for just preseason. At least 60,000 showed up.

I am done now. :) Any other questions!? hahahah ;)

I agree with what Holly said in that I've had pizza in other areas of the country and nothing compares to pizza from Chicago. Also, ditto everything Fan o' Dinsey has said.

I'll add that even though the Cubs are the biggest bunch of pathetic losers ever, the greatness and glory of the White Sox propels Chicago baseball over New York.
