If you only knew...

Considering the positive news I've been hearing regarding upcoming projects, I would call you on that bluff. I can say that from everything I've been told this week, several projects previously on hold have been brought back to the table for serious evaluation. There are some subtle hints regarding additions in the article actually... You just have to read into it.

K, I look foward to proving you wrong in the upcoming months/year

Beyond the reading, there really is a reason that you'll see resort alliances (especially between Disneyland and Walt Disney World).

Let me just sing a little song that reminds me of the new situation that seems to be unfolding:

Resort #1 "Sharing is caring, it can be fun!"
Resort #2 "I'll give you some when you have none!"

:animwink:

Clonning is never a good thing. It's the lazy/cheapo way out of a problem.

Are you related to Jay Rasolu because you seem to defend all of his decisions :veryconfu

If anything, it has helped increase the number of current projects. At least one that was on hold was given the green light this week (from what I understand).

I would confirm with other insiders before making such bold claims. No attraction based projects were greelit this week but again people will decide who is right by watching how things develop over the coming months.

Are those like what JM is doing?

DVC was sucessful during the spending/housing bubble of the past ten years. A buble that finally exploded last fall. DVC is no longer profitable.
Do you have a source? Or is this just more of your random negative speculation?

While I understand that it is cool to hate DVC right now, it is a good program that can benefit both the consumer and the company.

The math is all there for anyone who cares to sit through a presentation and is spelled out pretty simply.

DVC doesn't take money away from WDW. Two seperate departments, two seperate budgets. If you think DVC is taking away from WDW, you might as well start blaming other parts of the company as well.

I wish Disney would stop investing in ESPN and focus on WDW more...

Those doggone HD cameras are expensive! Why do we need to see each sweat bead on Kobe's forehead?!

But in all seriousness, I think he's gotten to the point where his posts don't even merit a response. Before, he at least posted some "supporting" rationale to accompany his opinions; now, it's just baseless derogatory statements with some insults thrown in for good measure. Even if there is a shred of truth to whatever he's saying, his delivery overwhelms it.

lol, I never said DVC takes money away from WDW. It takes money away from unsuspecting consumers and will come to bite Disney in the butt down the road.

In fact the trouble has already began: http://www.orlandosentinel.com/business/orl-diztimeshare1209feb12,0,4931450.story

If you had taken the time--perhaps you did, and just didn't understand the discussion or ignored it--to read the previous pages in this thread, you would've seen that same article quoted and the implications thereof explained.

The only implication of this is that Disney can no longer securitize their DVC contracts and thus profit further on them. This likely has implications on what incentives Disney will offer (to attempt to make up for the lost profit) and what ROFR actions they won't take, but it is hardly dooming news for DVC.

In fact, a full reading of that very article indicates more positive growth for DVC this year.

Yep, the sky sure is falling...

I have asked you about this before and your claim was that the consumer has little or no power in terms of the contract. What specifically do you mean? You say it is a ripoff but do not support that statement.

Small increase is being predicted. I don't see that happening unless the numbers really get a good spin.

Why are BLT and AK Villas being offered on the 7/4 promo then? Demand is that bad that these 2 new "jewels of DVC" can't fill up with members so they are being offered to everyone on a discounted promotion as soon as they start selling to the public?

I actually answered you several times in the past. What I meant was that Disney can change the points and rules at any time along the way. The contract you sign is very much in Disney's favor.

Yes you did, but I am still not quite sure how that differs from a lot of contracts.

Disney specifically says the point totals WON'T CHANGE... So, how is that changing the points??? And what rules are they changing????

Example: Let's say a week at SSR in May 2009 costs 170 points for a 1 bedroom... Next year, May 2010, that same week will cost 170 points... And so on and so on... What MAY change, and they announced they are doing it NEXT YEAR, is raising Sunday - Thursday and LOWERING Friday and Saturday point usage.. HOWEVER, the TOTAL amount of points do not change...

Just admit, you don't like the DVC and will spin things to try to make it look bad when in truth, it isn't bad at all... Over marketed maybe, but not bad over all...

And if someone is UNSUSPECTING, that isn't Disney's fault... People are dumb enough NOT to research for themselves, then Disney isn't to blame for stupidity of a potential buyer...

This was my understanding as well. I am no finance genius but we somewhat crunched the numbers before we bought and it seemed on the up and up.

I know one thing. I would not be able to afford a two bedroom suite at regular prices every year.
