DDP Got people to accept upfront payments for food regardless of the quality...right to left ordering covered declines. It also stopped people from actually judging what they were buying...because it was paid long before.

Free dining...shielded large increases
To the base prices of hotels and food and covered it up with temporary coupons.

Look At the Rates At Port Orleans ! ! ! ! ! ! !

Both were simply horrible mistakes by consumers. Irreversible.
I guess my next question is Disney going to jack up the rates for the resorts that have the gondola system? Having another mode of transportation to the parks is at least moderate resort prices.

In fairness I have nothing against CP, just not a fan of buffets or fixed price meals. We didn’t have a good meal at Skippers but I would give it another chance. My wife on the other hand...probably not. 😉

It really is a shame that the world’s most visited theme park has so few good dining options. Either they don’t care because they’re filling tables anyway, or they want to push those willing to pay for good food out to the resorts on the lagoon. It really doesn’t have to be so bad.
That's a shame on Jungle Skipper Canteen; we really enjoyed it (for a MK restaurant). My husband and I loved the whole fish, and our friends very much liked the chicken. The only dish we considered a "miss" was the noodle bowl.

Oh my goodness a burger I had at Commissary has to be top 10 all time most bafflingly horrible meals I've ever had. 2 bites and into the trash. Love Sci-Fi Burgers though, whatever they do to them there needs to replicated elsewhere. Would much rather drop 25 bucks on that than 12 on whatever those gristly gritty counter service concoctions are.

If your meal was that bad you should of went up and demanded a refund. They will always give it to you, I have done it multiple times when I am provided food that is "inedible" .. Not only that, they more people that do that and involve the managers the faster the food quality will change...

the only way the restaurants are going to get any better is if they get rid of the Disney Dining Plan... and clean house in F&B...Bring in the team from Disneyland as consultants on the reboot....They manage to produce some good quality food out there...I am baffled they can't figure it out here...

Is this a generalization? I always have a great meal when I'm there, granted I only go to the restaurants that have proven that they can consistently deliver a great meal and experience.

- Skipper Canteen gets rave reviews here and from guests regularly. It's sort of an answer to people who think the MK is just a place to get hot dogs & hamburgers -- "here's an entire fried fish!". Many dishes are the same thing you'll find at Tiffins for nearly twice the price.
- Liberty Tree Tavern is extremely popular and an excellent option for either lunch or dinner.
- BOG is, well, BOG. Still so popular that it's hard to get into.
- Tony's continues to be a solid Italian spot.
- Crystal Palace has a popular breakfast as well as buffet with character dining for the kids.
- Pecos Bill's keeps diversifying their menu. Their crispy cauliflower tacos were surprisingly the best quick service meal I had there on my trip.
- Want a fast meal? I'm not sure if Cosmic Ray's is still on the books as the busiest restaurant on earth, but it certainly churns through a ton of guests every day.

I'm sure there's plenty of others I'm forgetting, but the point is that there's really no shortage of good dining options at the park these days.

Tony' s is pretty terrible for a place that could offer some great food!

I went to Peco's Bill and had a grilled vegetable platter with yellow rice and it was awesome!!!! I was thrilled as when they had initially gone to the Tex Mex thing, I thought it was awful and didn't find anything I could eat there. I think they changed the rice and did offer some other options, but it was a great choice for me. Marie

True Bocabear, I am a really picky eater as most of my friends can tell you. I was so pleasantly surprised with how good the veggie bowl was that I fully plan on going back for another when I am back in town!! I did make sure to stop in at Guest Relations to tell them how good I thought it was, so hopefully it will still be there. I don't have a problem eating chicken or beef either, the veggie bowl was just what I felt like that day. I did put some cheese on it from the fixin's bar as well, totally yummy!! Marie

Disney World's vegan options are outta this world. Disneyland barely had any - and even when they had something that should be vegan (barbecue tofu), it shared a fryer with the fried cheesecake. I love eating at WDW - and I'm far from a PixieDuster, but I really don't understand all the hate.

Seriously, they've stepped up their veggie/vegan game in the last few years admirably. When I got those cauliflower tacos, it was more out of curiosity than anything -- and my steadfastly-carnivore friends who'd gotten carnitas and chicken tacos both said they were much tastier than theirs.
