Snide remarks aside. Someone in park operations probably thought that since the space isn't being used for anything else and they are still paying for electricity that a spot for guests to cool down during the heat of the day wasn't a bad idea. It probably only took a week or less from idea to execution. I won't complain about the scenery if I decide to step in there to get out of the heat.

Yeah, too bad they haven't built any AC'd attractions in the last decade. I get the idea is just provide a cool space and change is coming, but it doesn't make the whole state of things any less comical IMO.

You know, this wouldn't have been half bad if they'd called it "The Air Conditioned Toy Story Midway Mania Fast Pass Return Time Waiting Area" instead of "Sound Stage Lounge".

It's lame and lame isn't always a bad thing when it's something that is understated. Calling it a "lounge" implies things, though. It's also telling that this pops up just as another largish indoor air conditioned place which actually had stuff to do (animation) closes.

I get that this park is in a transition but it's a safe assumption that we can look forward to half a decade or more* before that transition starts to look like something other than a mess. They really should be including Hollywood Studios as a free hopper option to a single park ticket purchase at any of the other three parks as a limited time promotion or something until this transition involves adding something included in regular park admission. It isn't worth full price for a guest anymore but might help cut out a little traffic in the middle of the day at Magic Kingdom.

*I say this assuming we are already at least a year or two in.

Agreed. Lounge provides a huge clash in expectations and delivery. It's the details that matter even when there aren't many.

Maybe they'll decide to offer discounts during the overhaul like they did during the Poly renovation and that delux turned into a construction zone...I mean like they did when the WL pool was closed...nevermind.

If they wanted to make the park about as exciting as going to the dentist they could at least have placed a coffee table with some outdated magazines in the middle of the lounge.

People complain there aren't enough benches in the parks. Disney utilizes a vacant space for benches in A/C. Benches aren't themed to something other than benches, so people complain. Makes perfect sense to me...
