New Sound Stage Lounge At DHS

Allow me to argue both sides of this issue (I've been trained to do that).

We've spend a significant amount of time at DHS over the past three weekends, waiting outside for viewing of Frank Oz (second day) on the big screen, and wanting to see what the new parade was like. So we were handing around the "hub" area at the bend of Hollywood Blvd., and there was literally zero planned places to sit. We ended up sitting on planter walls next to garbage cans, as these were the only seats that had even a modicum of shade. So the availability of a location inside, in air conditioning, is a welcome addition.

On the other hand, I'd be embarrassed to invite people into that room because of how it looks. Barren comes to mind; but, it does provide cool and seats, so I'm not going to complain excessively.

I happen to think this lounge area is a good idea for small kids to cool down and perhaps get out some pent up energy.

Aren't these inconsistent sentiments?

It does sound inconsistent. However, if you've toured the parks with little ones in strollers it makes sense. The strollers are hot, there isn't much breeze that gets to them. Plus, they've been stuck in them for awhile, or standing in line. Kids need to move. Thus, the lounge is great for them to get out of the sun and the stroller. So, yes, they can cool off and get out some energy. Hope this makes sense :D

Having a picture of Walt in an area that clearly goes against everything he stood for is just nasty. You have to wonder, was this done on purpose, or did whoever designed the space seriously think Walt would be proud of it.

"What would Walt do?"

Erm, not this.

The most likely scenario, and IMHO the worst, is that they just threw up anything on the walls they could find with no real thought.

Yeah...And D-Zone sounds like a "Great" Idea at Epcot...

Oh, I'm not giving them any extra credit for putting chairs, tables and a temporary looking convention center style snack and beverage stand in a place that people have been using for years to cool off and calling it something special but at least there, you aren't in what is painfully obviously a shuttered former attraction. At least stumbling across the Epcot one, it sort of looks like it belongs there. But yeah "D-Zone" does make it sound like it should be something more than it is, too.
