New Sound Stage Lounge At DHS

I understand everyone's concerns. It is ugly. I'm also one to call them out on the garbage they pull. I don't see this as permanent. They clearly could have done much better with this, but people knocked the more on-theme Big Top one too. So again, it's a case of they just can't win. Do any of you actually think this will be around for years and be a true "offering"? The park is going to have a makeover at some point in the future. It's a place to cool down. Stop putting expectations on it and take it for what it is. JMO.

I mean...What were people expecting?

Hot cheese and a toppings bar? A TALKING trash can? More benches?

WIth Todays TWDC I think I'd have to answer YES to that question.

LOL. I know. I'm trying to actually be optimistic here. Obviously I want the space used for something else. I'm sure it will be. I do agree with danv3 that it seems thrown together overnight, probably by those working at DHS. At least they're offering a place to sit down and relax. Doesn't excuse the lack of effort but it clearly wasn't something WDI came up with. And if it was, I take back everything I've said. Anyway, again, JMO. I don't see it as that big of an issue but don't disagree with the other comments.

I really appreciate the addition of a cool space to rest but the average F&W booth is better put together, This is a statement that they really DO hold the customer in contempt in they could not be BOTHERED to do even a little work to make it an attractive space.

I think the reason people get so upset is that things of this nature symbolise a departure from the historical attention to detail and meticulous quality that people perceive once existed at Disney World. It is not the issues themselves but what they represent that causes the reaction in people.

This! There have been threads here about the disappearance of printed napkins and light bulbs being burned out. Inevitably someone came into these threads and said "why are you complaining, it's just a napkin/light bulb", these people were missing the big picture.

Heck seeing them still use park logo cups, plates and wrappers is still something nice to see. But, some just don't seem to matter much to it.

No it's more along the lines of having former Six Flags Management taking over the parks and degrading it to the lowest of lows..

So you are basically saying that if people have a complaint, then it's ok for Disney to solve that complaint any way they want even dis-regarding quality? People complain about the lack of rides at DHS, but Disney could easily solve this by buying a bunch of totally un-themed (I am talking less theme then Playland or Dino-land) carnival rides and putting them there. Would you find that acceptable?

well said.....dudes choking on dust.

Of course not, but these "temporary venues"...Wonders of Life, Odyssey Restaurant, most of Innoventions, Heritage House, much of the Animation attraction and others that are temporary, have been around for quite a while. I suppose not knowing is the frustration. But then again, the Hub at Magic Kingdom is just about complete and it went from a Park to a Parking Lot and unfortunately, that is permanent.

Well, I get that. I know. But where do we draw the line? Things like lightbulbs burnt out, chipped paint, etc. are signs of lack of care, but where do we draw the line? For me, I don't see that as a downgrade. It's a thrown together charging station with benches and air conditioning. It's not something they've advertised and worked on for months only to have it turn out looking like ... what it is. For me, I don't put it on that level of neglect to being on theme and meticulous attention to detail. In some cases it just is what it is. A thrown together room to cool off and charge your phone. Again, just my perspective. I see where others are coming from, I just don't think it really applies in this scenario.

Yes exactly, Pre-Iger this would not have been acceptable onstage even for a one day installation.

Ok, yes, one is temporary, but we all know how long some "temporary" things last at WDW. Anyone with a $500 budget and a trip to Ikea could do LOADS better than this. Some said it may have taken a week to set that up, I say it took an hour.

I wonder if there was even any concept art in Imagineering for this? Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if the Jack Sparrow thing that came before it didn't have any planning either, as that was the worst attraction in the resort.
