News New security measures

Until someone actually does get selected every time they try to enter a park, then I'm not sure a racial profile conclusion can be drawn. As for feeling like people are looking at you a certain way, I agree that since it is a new system, everyone is going to stare. Perhaps people are staring because they want to know what kind of screening is happening? As my mother always says: Not everything is about you. :angelic: Once this becomes old news, it'll be about as fascinating as someone getting randomly selected by TSA.

So, you tell me.

Did the security CM have a secret pair of dice he was using to roll a random number, that "Selected" me? I sure didn't see it, when he pointed how was that selection made? Can you show me the method in which he was directed by to point at me? Or did he "Mentally Sample" me because I looked like the type who needed sampling?

Perhaps you see nothing wrong with being pointed at and "Sampled" but I for one, see everything wrong with it! The CM didn't "sample" me, he CHOSE me by pointing at me and saying "You've been randomly selected please step over there." I believe he said that because of my looks, there was nothing "random" about it. It's not much further to jump to assume I could easily say I was discriminated against and "sampled" because of my color / race / orientation / gender.

Dial it down. He probably "samples" every 10th or 12th person.

I have randomly screened people (not for security) and I was told to select a random number, then change the number, and continue changing it, so no pattern is established. So I might have pulled aside every 5th team X5, then switched to every 7th X3, etc. Sometimes, it is a set pattern, ie, every 10th person will be checked.

You may have been profiled, or you might have been the right number.
My guess is the latter. Yesterday I was at AK (in the rain) and I overheard a security guard telling another to choose every second person, and I happened to be the one. I am a short, unassuming, Italian middle-aged woman, and I doubt I am the profiling target these days.

I stand corrected. But I mean, look at that lightning bolt on his hat. Clearly Illuminati. I feel safer already and I'm not even there.
The reality is that doesn't prove anything. Even if it truly is random there's always going to be someone who gets picked multiple times consecutively. Something like that just goes a long way in swaying the public opinion and certainly does make people question whether it's truly random or not.

You know what's funny?
It is like a coin flip. Each coin flip is independent and does not depend on the previous flips. Always a half-chance to land on heads...and always a half chance to land on tails....every time... :D

We will never hear about such things if it is under Disney's control.

We're heard about sexual attacks and kids dying via bus accidents. I'm pretty sure that a shooting or murder of some fashion would make it's way to the general public's knowledge....

Because some people are just out looking to be offended. We can't have anyone having their feeling hurt now can we..

It's pretty much accepted science that the human brain CANNOT do random. There have been multiple studies on this.

Yeah. I believe it was Apple that had to reprogram their shuffle feature on iPods to be less random because people thought it wasn't random enough, which... Yeah.

No, it pretty much sucked completely.. and didn't shuffle for crap. Forget random.. it couldn't figure out how to DISTRIBUTE playtime.

I am a 62 year-old, white female. My daughter is a 98 pound 20 year-old, and her friend is an 18 year-old blue eyed, blonde. We were all pulled aside and screened. I believe it is totally random.

Sounds like the 'check out the cute girls' you see so much in 'TSA random' screenings. DW is cute and gets selected for 'extra' attention frequently. The 20-30 somethings with crazy eyes not so much.

I'm sure that's one great subject the Disney lawyers were looking at and pushed hard for a 3rd party to run the screening. Yes, the media would try to spin it to being Disney, but TWDC is shielded from any direct lawsuit and would just spend a few bucks to spin it to be very clear it was CSC that selected folks for screening.

Since CSC is acting as Disney's agent it's still Disney's problem not going to hard to pierce the veil so to speak

Sorry if this has been discussed, I haven't followed this thread past the first few pages. So what happens if you just say no to the random screening? The most they can do is turn you away from the park, and then you just go to another park.

I would assume that if you decline, correct, they turn you away but then your admission ticket will bring up the red flashing Mickey head if you try to enter another park and further discussion will take place.

They don't know who you are or scan your ticket at the security checkpoint. There is no way to revoke the ticket.

True, but they will ask, at which time, you could say buzz off, but again, further heated discussions will then take place, probably with the OSCO folks standing nearby.
