by the way...maybe wdw1974 is merf...
Just throwing that out there since (i think it was Nole) there was a comparision made between the 2... hm.....

Not unless they're schizo, because they fight with each other over at LP. (Seriously, they're not the same.)

This is a message board. If a person posts bad information, it might hurt their individual credibility but how does that impact the value of the overall board?

I said laced. Not one person. We've all been to sites where there's nothing but moronic rumor threads that have been debunked over and over. The more threads like that, the less credibility a forum has. And in later posts, this was presented as more of a credible "rumor."

How many sites do you visit that are filled with stupid rumor threads? I know it's one of the reasons I migrated over here. There's more quality threads.

That's all I'm saying. ;)

It would not impact the monorail, the monorail could run back and forth route with only two on the line, it would be less monorail movement, but would still work.

But this rumor is definitely a rumor and not an urban legend...the Urban Legend would be that the pods for the rooms at the CR were designed to be removed for remodeling...the RUMOR is that the CR is sinking...Maybe I need to post official definitions of the 2 words..

But here's the problem with that statement (This will be my last comment on this thread and then I'm going to let it drop), the original post backed up the supposed rumor by using this urban legend. That's when I knew this was all bunk. If they're going to replace the Contemporary because it is sinking causing the modular rooms to be jammed into place then we know this supposed rumor has no credibility. The modular rooms are jammed into place because there were welded there and not ever expected to be removed again. Now I have no doubt that there are some structural issues, there are with every old building. But they're not causing the rooms to be jammed into place requiring the whole place to be bulldozed.

Here's the part of his original post that threw up the red flags bolded for emphasis.

This is a long term rumor a CM has stated thet the long term plan before the Credit Crunch, is after the BLT is completed is that they were going to knock down The Contemporary (it's sinking and the modular units are jammed inside the building) even though they have recently remodeled it, there seems to be structural problems that are just to costly to repair. They claim another Tower will be built opposite the BLT with a round building in the middle, this will make it look like Mickey from the air.

the fact that this thread continues on tells me that Disney needs to start doing something remotely interesting soon...like a new ride...anywhere.

You must be right cause I'm pretty sure I talked to a clueless CM I have trouble telling the ones with a clue and the clueless ones apart...........

not passing judgment, but comments like this make you seem like a jerk. And maybe you don't care, but why waste your time coming across as a jerk to people you don't know? Your choice, just wanted you to know how you come across.

When it comes to WDW rumors, there are two types of CMs, those that know they're B.S.'ing you, and those that swallowed the line of B.S. fed to them by the first type. :D

I sure hope the building is not sinking in any way. I have a hunch that if it were it would have been abandoned long before now. Of course an a-frame is incredibly stable so I think the building is fine,

As for if it is still "contemporary", the original still looks fantastic to me. It's a great icon that I hope the new tower can live up to. I wish Disney would release an artist rendering of the long term plan for the site. Then I think it would be more apparent that the Contemporary Resort has a very bright future.
