Isn’t that the million dollar question? So many people claim they don’t care about theme, but get very upset about other people wanting it. People who don’t care about theme don’t losing anything if there is a theme. People who just want cool rides can still get that with a strong theme.

It's like they think the two are mutually exclusive. We used to get both nearly every time...

People need to understand that all of this comes from a place of extreme love. Nobody on this site hates Walt Disney World. Quite the opposite.

I really don´t care that much. As I always said, my favorite park was DHS with all the magic of making the films, the props and all that. But nowadays I am also happy with the SW land, things need to move foward and to adapt to the new style.

With that said, Nowadays there is a trend in retro/vintage style. And I think EPCOT could easily transform with that in mind and make something unique. and not another generic park.

The unique style of the retro/vintage coke machine, Volkwagen Kombi, the SMEG apliances, The GM Futureliner!!!

and I found EPCOT center ( and original tomorroland) to fit that style in a great way. And they can bring that together to make something unique and oustanding.

I LOVE the design of all these things. While I think they’re cool now, I’m pretty sure they were considered “dated” and “old fashioned” at one time. Retro is a tricky thing- it has to build on nostalgia but still appeal to current tastes. So retro cars have to have modern underpinnings in order to be accepted. Retro fashion has to incorporate modern materials. Otherwise, it’s not retro, it’s just old.

The problem with a “retro” view of Epcot is that it hasn’t been properly updated (or intentionally maintained) to stay consistent with an intentional design. Through neglect (and not by design!), the old stuff isn’t retro, it’s just old. The Ellen and Bill Nye video from UoE, for example, wasn’t intentionally preserved as a nod to the good old days, they just didn’t update it.

So the problem now is that they can’t just start creating new things with a retro vibe and say, “See? We were going for retro the whole time!” Because we know they weren’t. To fix Epcot, they have to create new stuff- or, at the very least, intentionally retro stuff with new underpinnings.

if you simply don't care, why are you even in this discussion?
Then perhaps it would be prudent to not argumentively insert yourself into conversations you care so little about? Ya know, since you care so little and don't want to argue? Especially with such needlessly condescending pointless posts.

It's fun to see someone post excruciatingly long paragraphs saying the same thing over and over again, when my response is literally straight to the point. Talking in circles. It is just purely entertaining to see someone get so upset about something that they can't fix. So, round 40956275...

The new Epcot will be fine. It's what the general public wants. Magic Kingdom 3.0 will be more popular than an original Epcot revision. :)

From what I understand Future World is Tomorrowland 2.0 as far as I'm concerned. That's theme enough for me. With this in mind, I'm more upset that the opposite side isn't very thematically making sense anymore. Land, Water, and Imagination. If anything, Mission: Space, Test Track, Play, and Guardians all create a distinct land that revolves around space travel and futuristic technology in general.

And I'm okay with that theme. It's everyone else that's not okay with that. And it is honestly quite amusing.

I couldn't agree more.

Look! Everyone’s marching out of time except our Billy!
I appreciate the joke. Reality is reality, though. You have three kinds of Disney fans...

1). A mix of nostalgic fanbois and "what Disney used to be" claimers, which is what this site is mostly made of.

2). The average Disney fan, who is aware of Disney movies and characters, and unfamiliar with say, "What Epcot could have been" and only really cares about seeing as many characters as possible.

3). The Disney fan that just goes with the flow and accepts things the way that they are. This is me. And honestly, for me, as long as the ride/attraction is really good, I just don't care anymore. There was a time where I would have cared, but Disney isn't trying to win over the theme park historian fanbase anymore. They're trying to win over the common everyday person. So with this in mind, two more Magic Kingdoms are fine with me as long as the attractions are good, entertaining, and enjoyable to experience.

How old do you think my kids are? Lol...

I did forget about the one after M:S, and that’s the only one they’ve ever had any interest in staying in (meaning, we had to literally pull them out or they’d have been in there for hours). They never did the one at WoL because the pavilion was seasonal by the time even my oldest could really do that play area. Bruce has been done but it’s a 5 minutes and they’re done kind of thing.

Like much of life, I'd say there are many variables in between these three as well.

That’s a lot to do with it. Not everyone is ready to roll over and just accept it. You have, maybe they will, maybe I will. Maybe by the time I can bring myself to go back to Epcot (we made a choice not to go this year on purpose) I won’t care about it either. I’m trying not to. As I keep saying, EPCOT Center is dead. I know that. I just hope what comes instead of it is okay. I’m sure it will. I know it will never come close to being as good. But that would be a tall order.

Straight to the point?

You have absolutely no idea what the general public wants.

And posting over and over that you will pay for anything the multinational billion-dollar conglomerate gives you without evaluating its quality does not make you as superior as you seem to think. :)

Anyway, it’s telling that no one can identify a distinctive theme for the emerging Future World. And even in the case of the vague “Tomorrowland 2.0” idea, PP isn’t a thematic fit.
