If you do not have any parts for the potatoheads and need a potatohead...you may want to get the starter kit ($20) and 2 boxes on top of it...these new pieces are really big!

I agree. With the original set of pieces, the bottoms were hollow so you could shove small items (ie earrings, the ice cream bars, autograph book, ears, etc) in them. I once got almost 80 parts in a single box! But now those parts are BIG and heavy! The buzz base probably would take up half a box, and it is solid. And, the hats (the groom hat, mad hatter hat espically) are huge!

Man, I wish I was going. Getting parts from ebay, and putting together your own box are two completly different things. It's so much fun doing it yourself!

Now I'm just depressing myself:cry:

The Buzz base is really big...almost too big to even call it "fair".

If they had hollowed it out (like the teacup) it would've been much better when it comes to filling a box of parts.

Same could be said with the poncho...if it would actually fit in the box...I could see it being part of the package...because it's hollow and you'd still have plenty of room to fill.

EDIT: I just wish Disney would come out with a price that includes every piece.

Or a box that is big enough to fit every piece.
The 16.00 was very reasonable, considering how many pieces I actually got. (the first time around) The silly suitcases go for about 12-15 in stores like Target and Kmart, and they only have about 30 pieces in them. And, they aren't disney pieces. For Disney, I'd pay anything:animwink:

Also, about the make your own box of Legos in the Lego store. The lego's are square, but they give you a round bucket to fill. I really don't think that's worth the price.
(In comparison to what you get for the Potato Heads)

No, but I do the exact same thing to my cat and bunny! I have so many pictures of them in Potato Head parts! They fit perfectly. I'll post pics if I can find them.

Hmmmm...good question. Let me email them and find out. It would definately be cheaper then using Ebay.

Thanks so much for this thread! When we were there in November I did the build your own and got a fun box of PH goodies at a store in AK. But it was only later on that I heard I should have gone to WOD. I'm going back in August and will most definitely be adding all the other parts! I'm especially excited about the Dumbo, the teacup and the rain poncho!!

We aim to please!

Soooo.....this is the third time they've added another part in the past few months (the gloves, the poncho, the dumbo) in addition to the whole new set in the make your own box. Does anyone know if they are going to continue in this fashion? (adding a new part every few weeks?)

It seems to be really popular, so I am sure they will keep making new parts. I just wish I could get all the new parts without having to go thru ebay. I am probably going to Disneyland in August, so I am going to see what they have there.

Just an update:
This comes from another thread, and thanks to the author of the thread: NSCMC
(And I quote)
"This morning I was at Once Upon a Toy buying my box of Mr. PotatoHead parts. I saw the yellow poncho but wasn't overwhelmed - it's just a yellow blob with a sticker on the front that says both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. NO Mickey on the back! I did finally get the Tea Cup, plus the Dumbo and lots of assorted hats and accessories I didn't already have.

But on to my news - the CM at the store told me that in the next few months they are coming out with a Monorail and a Test Track vechicle for the PotatoHeads!! So watch for that at your local Once Upon a Toy!!"

NEW PART ALERT!!
Woo Hoo
Found these on Ebay today. They are actually existing parts that were once sold seperately. Supposedly they were "limited edition" sets only sold in Wal Mart for a limited time in 2002, but now I guess they had extras and are being sold in WDW. Here are three links:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=1383&item=2265013757&tc=photo

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=1380&item=2265013740&tc=photo

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=1383&item=2264812088&tc=photo

I'm a little upset because I payed about $20 for each of those sets (they were boxed, and came with a potato), and now here they are, sold in pairs, for less then I payed individually.

Also, one more update. My friends just got back last week, and in DTD, they were all out of Dumbo bases, Ponchos, and most of the fill your own box stuff was empty. They were out of yellow shoes, minnie bows, princess wands, glass slippers, and many other things!

I am going next week, I will check out what they have. The hotel gift shop at Pop Century has a good selection too, as does one of the shops in Dinorama at AK.
