News New Park Entrance coming to Epcot

Interesting they've already moved rope drop over to the east side of SSE. A sign of what to expect I imagine as we approach demolition hour on the former Innoventions buildings.
On that note, walls are up around Coral Reef and strangely the old main entrance to West. I would imagine this is to whack down the overgrown foliage before they can swing that wrecking ball

That area is the 1994 addition to Communicore. I wonder if it would have to be removed first.

Still the wrong decision. But that’s just me.

It's enough that you could easily build an entirely new theme park with the money. If it's executed well, Epcot will be the best Disney park in the world quality wise. I just can't believe the amount was approved.

This is why there will never be a 5th park at WDW: It takes the same amount to refresh an existing park every few decades. Why would they want to have another hungry mouth to feed?

Honest question, is that a separate structure or not? It was my understanding that when the building was expanded it all became one thing. Like Energy and the BBB

The fact that Disney wasn't able to keep 4 parks updated with consistent investments is proof that they shouldn't be building a 5th one
It’s not that they can’t upkeep, they just don’t see the need to. As long as the parks are consistently pulling in guests and making revenue, TDO doesn’t see any point in spending money if people are going to go anyways. It’s quite unfortunate.

I have no doubt in Disney’s ability to inefficiently spend money. After Guardians, Ratatouille, the nighttime show, a refurb or two, and an overall park redesign, I imagine all they’ll have left is a few dollars for lunch. What I listed is certainly a great amount of stuff, no doubt. But for the money being spent there should be more, and I don’t know that there’ll be as much as some seem to anticipate. Alas that’s nothing new.

Because those hungry mouths are also incredibly profitable. What they make outweighs what they spend on any domestic park.

Another reason not to build a 5th park lol

It was a view that even its strongest supporters, including Bob Iger, have realized they were wrong on.

Are you going on record saying that it’s going to happen?

Hell no. I’m sure they have no intention of building a fifth gate. But they no longer think the market is too mature to see returns on investments in their existing four. And regardless, all four make far more money every year than what is spent on them. So my point is, neither reason I quoted is accurate nor applies to why they wouldn’t build a fifth gate.

Contrary to popular belief, there is such a thing as over doing it. I really don't believe that adding another park is going to increase sales, but, even if it does it will not increase profit. With Universal expanding, Disney will really be competing for people to fill the 4 parks. Unless it is something never heard of and costing in the trillion dollar area they will no longer be able to draw people away from Uni just by building another park. While Disney spent the last decade napping, they were winning over some of the guests that one time only went to Disney plus attracting a newer generation that wasn't necessarily brought up with Disney like many of us were.
