New nighttime show 'Rivers of Light' confirmed to be coming to Disney's Animal Kingdom

That entire park is made up of small, meaningless additions that manage to be pretty great in the aggregate.
I look forward to seeing if they can do something neat with the extra space, especially if it's a new animal exhibit or two.

I think we'll see a few new animal exhibits. I've heard the tamarin exhibit in front of Tree of Life will be removed for more space. They would be moved to a new area. The otters may be moved to Asia and the anteater could be moved to Discovery Island. I think we'll be seeing lots of animal changes.

Well, we'll have to wait until it's ready to see if it's right. Until then, it strikes me as a "My girlfriend/ boyfriend goes to another high school, you don't know her."

If you hang around here for some time, you will recognise certain names that generally know what they are speaking about. @Tip Top Club is one of those names. No reason to post pictures if people know they can trust this poster. And alerting people to an issue can help others to go out and find it and post the picture the original poster was not at liberty to do so.

If the Cotton Top Tamarins would be removed from in front of the tree of life, they would be moved to with the other tamarins at Rafiki's. Otters are getting a refurb, so I doubt they would move them for some time. There definitely will be animal changes, but I doubt we will see any animal exhibits in the new area of Africa.

There will, as drew stated, but quite a bit of animal changes. Remember that they will be doing work on the tree itself as part of all these changes, construction is not the healthiest environment for wild animals!

I've been hearing rumors that the Animal Kingdom would be getting a new water show, possibly the same kind of show as World of Color at DCA.

I really don't see how a show like this can possibly fit in a park about animals. The show and the park really have nothing in common with each other.

Disney officially announced a nighttime show...they didn't say it would be WOC

Ignoring for a moment that we don't really know much about the planned night time show for DAK and whether it would resemble WOC in any way.... why couldn't a WOC type show "fit" in a park with animals? Obviously, if Disney were doing a WOC type show in DAK, they would use songs/images/themes that fit in with animals and nature. But that would be very easy to do, to use projections where the theme is "nature" and not "colors".

Yes, but it seems as though it's gone way off topic. It would not seem like a good idea to just jump in and steer it back to the topic of nighttime entertainment.

Well, as I read in a book on WDW called "Four Decades of Magic", in one chapter on AK, it says, "There was no way the animal curators would allow a fireworks show to disturb their charges." Granted, World of Color was not a fireworks show, but it is plenty loud, so I have a feeling that a show like that would still disturb the animals.

The new night entertainment sounds kind of lame to me after seeing what Diagon Alley is going to look like. I suppose if the nighttime spectacular show portion is as good as WoC it will be nice. I'm all for it if it keeps people out of the MK at night. This is just my opinion but I could really use less people at the MK at night.

The current body of water, Discovery River, is not suitable for a fountain show like WoC.
They would have to build a new venue, or spend a ton to redo the river.
I'm thinking its going to be more like the Cinematic Spectacular at UNI right?

Realistically, the new nighttime entertainment will probably open around the same time as the Avatar stuff, which is likely at least 3 years away. From the description in the press release though, it sounds like it will be quite different than the long-discussed Rivers of Light processional
